I've found colour Kyocera are rubbish compared to their mono counterparts. Got rid of all our Kyocera colour printer. If you don't need colour would recommend FS-2100DN

How is everyone using Onedrive in a school or college environment? we are currently holding out for a way to map a drive to onedrive, but at the moment its not on the roadmap for office 365. How do your student store and access documents? do they have local storage as well as onedrives? and do they edit excursively within Office 365 online or download to use Office installed on their computers?

+1 for Xibo, We have ours running a on VM for the server and some old laptops hidden for the clients, linked to tvs. Once its set up and the templates are set, we have our reception team add and remove content.

it is a very weird move I know Moodle isnt used to its full potential here and lecturers are still printing out reams of paper, we'd like to get away from that and have a fresh start. Already we use wordpress.com as a blogging platform for students to use as an online portfolio. Moving away from moodle to wordpress would consolidate the systems we use. Moodle is currently more used as a document store from than a traditional VLE

We are planning to move away from our current Moodle as our college VLE to Wordpress ready for the new term in September. The move should provide an new, up to date/modern experience and provide students with a blog. I'm currently evaluating three different wordpress plugins/themes to help create courses and content manage. Namaste! LMS: Leaning Management System For Wordpress WordPress - Academy - Learning Management Theme | ThemeForest http://www.woothemes.com/products/sensei/ Has anyone done this or used these products and can offer advice?

We have been using them for about 3-4 years now. Can recommend them highly. We have 50 units (120 and 121) to cover our college. Works well for our staff and students for BYOD and supporting our ipads/Laptops. The cloud controller works wells and updated regular with new features. If your walking around college, the access point your connected to will tell the aps around it to get ready to accept your connection when you move out of it so you virtually have no drop off in signal. Pm me if you need any info.

Ditched Fronter - possibly planning on edmodo.
mark100 replied to timbo343's topic in Cloud Services
We are looking at getting rid of Moodle and moving to wordpress, Currently evaluating different plugin/themes. Moodle is a solid platform and works well as if some else has said, you have a driving force behind it, if not like ours it just sits there holding documents. Wordpress should hopefully be able to give students a personal blog and a good learning environment to host all the course material. Our ICT department use edmodo, with success but I cant see how it could be scaled up to support a whole school/college. -
Whether to virtualise our main servers
mark100 replied to Jollity's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Best thing we have. Saves sooo much time, can quickly deploy a new server or if you mess up can roll back to a snapshot, lifesaver!!! -
Yes please

[quote= More awesomeness: Teacher- I cannot access the teacher drive Company- Well the solution is to reformat your PC, it'll take at least a week 'Could you plug your iPads into the ethernet?' 'Ah, the whiteboard has a USB B connection, your PC has a USB A- you'll need to replace the whiteboard' I'm starting to love this company, not for the IT Support which is shocking but there amazing answers. They are giving us a laugh in the office

Would definitely be going to smt with this and maybe some quotes from other companys who could provide the same service. Show them how much money they can save. you might be able to break the contract because they are providing inadequate services

The logs were full of redirect issues, "Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace." This might of been related to the blogs being created when we were using https instead of http, but we couldn't find a way to change everything pointing to https to point back to http. Im thinking a fresh start might be best

In September we launched a single virtual server to host blogs for all the students. The site had about 1500 blogs, but after about 40 students were using the site, it would fall over and apache would need restarting to kick it back in. Has anyone had an experience in using wordpress as a blogging platform for students and if so, what kind of set up did you use? Looking at separate virtual servers for different departments or multiple databases, w3cache, cdn, but dont know the best path to go down to have a quick and reliable site.
