How much RAM do you have, Windows seems to chuck the whole lot in RAM then spool it out from there, had weird issues with it in Server 2008 R2. As above Robocopy works fine, I would also look at a packet capture from wireshark as it could be some network hardware not coping with the TCP windows or falling back too quickly. It could be a bad MTU or a device that does not have jumbo frames enabled or something.

I have been prepping for ip6 with hardware and software for years, have finally got an ip6 ISP so at some point I'll actually be able to go native IP6 for the whole network with v4 as a fallback for older devices and Macs As above though, total hassle to actually do however it will mean we avoid a stack of the issues as ip4 keeps circling the drain noisily.

Have made a MSI for 2.1.5 on Windows 8 that does not take over any file associations but advertises itself as a suitable program when a DVD is inserted. Have not managed to suppress the update and media information prompt but otherwise works fine. PM if you want it.

This does explain a lot of the junk that has been going down today, Vodafone in NZ or at least a stack of their edge providers probably use this as many sites were simply unavalible from mobile data.

Yes, all untagged in vlan one means they are all native in the same vlan, to have separate ones you need to isolate them out and have ports native to the other vlan. If you want to communicate between vlans each vlan needs to be on its own subnet and you need a layer3 router inbetween the vlans, if your core switch is layer3 it should manage this but otherwise you would need an external router. In order for these vlans to get to the internet the internet router must also have routes back to the internal vlans using the layer3 switch as their gateway otherwise the traffic will not make it back.

Well MS is at it again, their bad decision machine has dumped out yet another travesty. First they pull the Skype App for MacOS 10.5 which was unnecessary, this caused outrage and so they reversed it and pulled the plug on the Windows Phone 7 one instead. How they have less support for their own platforms is unfathomable. I wonder how many people work in the internal sabotage and stupid decisions department at MS, there must be a lot. I think this is about worn but not worn out tires rather than retreads/remolds. As to retreads, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, they are generally not good and personally I'd probably shred them on the way out of the tire place accidently.

Something no one has said yet is that you should really look at replacing two at a time, doing only one is begging for trouble due to uneven tread and probably compound differences. There is also the case of why it is doing it in the first place, perhaps the wheel alignment is out or the suspension is a bit off on just that corner. If you can get part worns from a reputable place - bearing in mind you want two of the same type (decent brand and decent spec) and as balanced as possible, also tires have a serial number on them that can tell you the manufacture date as tires beyond a certain age are illegal and unsafe. As long as the tires are alright in those regards it is probably worth going with the part worns and getting a wheel alignment/quick check on the suspension. This way you may well end up with a safer car overall and make sure that the underlying uneven wear issue is not something that needs to be looked at further without burning a stack of money and brand new tires. Additionally I know what you mean about odd tires, mine are 235R60 and so decent tires come in at about 160 pounds each but as I always say, I'd much rather be a few hundred dollars less embedded in a power poll if things go wrong so its worth the money to get decent balanced tires.

Maybe if you precreate the ipad in profile manager and populate everything like the user it is tied to, serial number, device group etc it might, doubt it though.

Even papercut relies on you either uploading a jpg/pdf to a print server or running a mac server with papercut on it to act as a bridge to the windows stuff. If you are not monitoring printing some of the printers may have apps that allow you to print drect but it is a bit of a hack with lots of different printers.

Having a stack of them is not too bad, it is only the ones that are needed that are copied at install time, They system/net and storage drivers are integrated into the boot.wim by default but this is not usually that bad.

Disabling the firewall is really only a diagnostic measure, I would not deploy clients like that, much better to have the firewall up and allow exceptions, a gateway firewall means nothing if someone brings in a USB key with a virus on it and it bounces about your internal network like a ferrit on speed. I'd advise pushing java via GPO too as it gets updated every week with the next hundred security vunrabilities. Jave is easy enough to push out if you are not customising it, just get the full installers from java.com, run them and they dump MSIs into the local temp folder that you can deploy.

Agree with the third party comment, the Apple tools do seem to be able to get the job done, at least partially with ipads but with 30 of them on there the brand new mac mini slowed to a crawl. It takes a good couple of minutes to log out locally and log ins take as long. Hardware is fine but the software has got the wrong end of the CPU somewhere, it makes me wish for Windows NT4 let alone a more modern server OS.

The UAC prompts are only for when software tries to write to protected areas like updating java, this can be combated by pushing the updates via GPO constantly and disabling the auto update. You may also need to use GPO to add a few exceptions into the client firewalls to allow certain teraffic like network shares through - this should be on by default but it depends on the setup.
