Oh, did that migration last year from an unsupported ZD to a shiney new vSZ. Was totally worth it even if the SZ is a whole lot more complex. Would be interested in the video and/or details. As to questions: Are the new versions covered under the support liscence? They jumped from 3.5 to 5.0 just after I did the upgrade so am curious.

Depending on brand there may be diagnostic utilities to ru. On the ssds in situ or on a seporate system (main system offline) to rule out some issues.

ILO software can be very finiky with disks especially those which are made after it's release. Backup everything then look at firmware for ssds and raid controller. Could also be the backplane that the drives attach to but unlikely unless it is an older server. Get the backup quick as especially if battery backed write cache is involved it can make a large mess very quickly.

If you don't want the niceties of AD and most of your server side software is cloudable this is doable. Just remember if your net goes down you may as well just leave till it comes back up. Don't bother with dhcp in the cloud, certain core stuff can just be run off the core switch. If you are a large site and don't have managed network gear/leave it to Google you get what you deserve. If you have chrome books or o365 with in tune then you can pull this off from a client managment point of view. You do not have the power of ad but you have enough for most things. Some stuff just needs a server if it is not cloudable like papercut print managment, you can rent expensive cpu time to do it off site in the cloud or just deal with it like a sane person and take it into consideration. Depends on your budget and how stock standard you want it. The full fledged melt my face performance option would be to add more ram, replace the hba with a gen 9 p series raid adapter, add the battery backed cache unit and add a pool of three ssds in raid5 using the smartcache feature to keep it all largely transparent to the OS. Or as your dbs are small a raid1 or 5 of ssds with the current controller would also speed io. Adding another drive or two may increase read speed but decrease write speed for little transactions in some cases. @pete - a late reply I know but many of my schools are still using accessit and it is the best option available here, good and quick with tech support, support lots of integration options including ldap, click view and even a database to database import solution to keep up records if required from an SMS. Not sure about the magstripe stuff but I would think so, you can also just barcode scan or username and password them, especially on the web site version. The librarians are happy enough with it and support time is negligible, every so often it will off itself thanks to an update but the fix is usually quick and simple. It runs nicely as a service on a server and has sane system requirements. Generally I'd say it is totally worth a look.

This should give you a nice short list to look through to find where in the registry it stores the setting. Hopefully it is in a nice universal place across laptops but it could be hidden under a unique device id in the registry which makes it trickier. Another thing to check is that if STP is on, on the switch make sure it is set to access/portfast for the printer as it may be taking too long to exit blocking mode by which point the printer has given up waiting for a response from the DHCP server.

You need to do it live, boot into the existing os with network support and either transfer and apply the image manually or use something like mdt with the above tweaks to image that way. It's not ideal but it does get the job done.

Nice, those are generally built cheap of reference platforms and TBH W8 is way more reliable a bet on a tablet in my experience than the mess that can be Android unless you are buying top of the line android tabs.

You are trying to find a paid solution for something that already exists for free, it's just not open source. Terminal services gateway is a nice little feature that has been around as a server role since Server 2008, it allows you to offer out RDP over SSL to whatever internal servers you choose, kind of like a reverse proxy. You set up the RDP gateway and then tell it what server you want to connect to and it will pipe the whole thing over SSL for you. Nice, clean and only requires one port opening, you can even stack the service with other SSL if you have ISA/TMG as the firewall. You need to make an SSL cert but you can do that for free with any number of solutions or just install the self signed one on your device. MS Remote Desktop supports this great and a handful of the weirdy OSS ones make a decent attempt.

A lot of the apps are actually a bunch better, the MS made Facebook app is actually better than the Facebook developed one. Stuff like Geocaching apps are actually free for all the advanced features instead of $12 on other platforms. The Facebook app does not helpfully upload the contents of your phonebook and text directory. The twitter app and my banks apps are also very smooth. Most of the main services have decent apps, you know apart from Edugeek of course

I have a 920 and it is great, it was better on 8 than 8.1 though, the new features of 8.1 are really good but it can lag out and hard lock on the 920. It is still better than any android phone I have used and the 925 is slightly later so may not have the same issues. I still like the platform but it is not as faultless as it used to be at least on the 920.

These tablets are junk for imaging, the Acer Switch are way better but anyhow this problem has be tackeled. OneNote plus Onedrive gives me decent apps and a web editor if needed, I still have an evernote account but I don't use it as much as OneNote.

Does it need to be a pdf, html5 canvas plus an svg graphic should work on most newer systems.
