@paday can I just say how impressed I am with the way Hitachi has handled this problem. A lot of companies would have tried to wash their hands.

As already mentioned, diesels do need a comparatively bigger battery than petrol because the starter motor has to work harder. I got one of these from Maplin that I put on the school minibus during the holidays and it works.

Very commendable @creese. When I travelled there regularly on business I used to fill a bag with stationery (paper, pencils, rulers etc.) and just pop in to a small school in the bush. The look on the faces of the staff when I'd breeze in, open the bag as say "can you use these?" The kids would all be immaculate in crisp, white shirts all the more amazing when they live in one room rondavels.

I had the honour of talking to him on a plane from Johannesburg to Durban in 1990. He'd not long been released from Robben Island and came back into "cattle-class" to say hello. He took time to speak to everyone who wanted to meet him. He had an infectious grin. There were as many whites as blacks who got out of their seats to shake his hand. A truly remarkable gentleman. RIP

Agreed, but it has been levelled at me by competitors and governors. The former, I have crossed off my xmas card list, the latter I have pointed towards some of the youtube videos that show that Learnpad isn't a "Fred-in-a-shed" operation.

I sent an email out to staff to see if they had any computers speakers going spare. I got a reply from our HT saying she had a pair that were shaped like dogs. I sent back asking what the woofers were like. No reply. I wonder if she has any shaped like birds?

Does anyone know of companies that can offer a Windows tablet solution. I'm not looking for a box-shifter, more someone who can explain the benefits of Windows tablets to our SLT as opposed to Android or iPads.

We went down that road as well. In my wife's new Nissan with uptodate maps. I've heard recommendations not to put Home in on your satnav. The thief has your car and doorkeys and the they know where you live! I've just got J5 M5 in mine. I can find my own way from there.

Wilkinsons has one for £15. Quite compact and looks good. I think it's ony 1750mAh but that should do in an emergency.

I'm using Navfree on my android stuff. It's ok, a bit of lag but there are free maps for just about anywhere.
