Hi All, After a bit of advice, I manage 2 sites connected via 1GB fibre - from our 2500 staff and students only a handful of say 100 bodies actually travel between sites for login access These file servers contain user home areas, network drives and profiles - once consolidated into one server I want them to replicate with each other and serve users on site A for server A, site B for server B - however if server A was to go down users would automatically pull data from the site B server How would I go about doing this? i'm thinking of something along the lines of similar DFS replication that happens with the domain controller - or is there a better more reliable method?

So I've just had a member of staff (teacher) who came into the support office bitter about the fact that students can see images of staff when using email (we upload their ID photo to their AD account) and that he was upset that his students spent half the lesson screenshotting and editing profile pictures of staff in a mspaint style humorous way He tried to order me to remove all staff photos at once, I told him that students misbehaving in class is a disciplinary issue, however, Is there an option to block students from being able to see the ad thumbnail but yet allow staff to see them We are a large school with over 267 staff so I'd like to keep this perk available to all staff

noticed the network crashed yesterday after checking the logs on the server it was saying DHCP was full I noticed a shed load of unique ID's all very similar, deleted them and everything went back to normal - this morning they have re-appeared Can anyone advise on how to track this down? the logs give no help other then notifying me that DHCP is full

The Head has just asked if it's possible for the following feature on sims in touch: Once a week we would like to send attendance figures off to parents Saying something like your Childs attendances is XX% (reading info from sims) As far as I am aware this is not possible with in-touch - has anyone got a system setup similar to the above?

Has anyone managed to get an internally hosted sharepoint 2013 SLG installation to authenticate using ADFS? If so do you have any advice or a guide i could follow? " I've managed to get as far as logging in using ADFS but instead of directing to the SLG web application i just get a message after login saying "Let us know why you need access to this site."

For some reason whilst trying to use an iPad to login to office365 it just times out after the redirect to our ADFS server, using a windows based machine redirects and logs in fine Anyone else experience this? How did you resolve?

We have our SLG hosted on-premises running off a Sharepoint 2013 Currently logins for parents are windows authentication based, which means they get the security pop-up asking for username and password when they login, unfortunately this method of authentication is not compatible with IOS devices which is causing a lot of parents to think the system isn't working (despite my instructions to use a PC or MAC) I am wanting to change this to forms based authentication via our ADFS server already setup for office365 I followed this guide https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh305235.aspx all works a treat until you actually sign into SLG, it comes up with the "Request access to this page" prompt It's like it cant match my domain user credentials and is denying acess to SLG based on the fact it thinks i am a unregistered user of some sort I think this is to do with claim rules, attached is how its setup but if anyone can advise me on the correct claim rules i need to pass through to SLG it would be much appreciated

Can you not just map a network drive using GPP to the location with the %username% variable?

Having a weird issue with IE where as when students staff or sometime domain admins for that matter go to download a file using IE the downloaded loses its extension, thus resulting in the user not being able to download the file it works ok in chrome and I've taken smoothwall out of the equation to find it makes no difference Here's what's making it really hard to diagnose, it works sometimes on the same login experience with the same user on the same machine. Has anyone else experience a similar issue?

Anyone else experiencing this issue this morning? from a quick look at the events all out SQL services which ran off of NT service\***** credentials stopped and where unable to restart due to insufficient access rights Simply removing the password from the logon tab and clicking apply allows me to then start the service back up

No security inheritance, I need to give a specific service account access to all my AD accounts, usually done via security tab on OU however the accounts themselves do not have inheritance enabled so it would mean me doing each one manually for almost 3000 accounts

nope localhost doesn't work either bringing up the default IIS page, the port 120 is mapped to the site in IIS bindings - just been looking at my sharepoint server, localhost doesn't work on that either however the DNS name does http://sp1 which might be related Its not a brand new setup, capita initial installed it in august and it did use to work but stopped back in November which is when I got a load of adprovising error logs

Hi All, I run windows 2012 R2 with IIS on our SQL server for active directory provisioning and I cannot get to http://sql1:120/sims.asmx when I try to browse locally on the SQL1 server - all I get is a page cannot be displayed error even when trying http://127.0.0.1:120/sims.asmx or http://localhost:120/sims.asmx. In my hosts file I do have 127.0.0.1 localhost uncommented Tried IISresets and reboots to the server with no joy, removed our smoothwall from the equation with too
