  1. there is a policy setting in chrome admx to force pdfs to open externally from chrome - maybe i could stick those two policies in coalition
  2. I have just rolled out Google Chrome which i've noticed allows the student to work it as a file explorer for access to C Drive. Essentially you can get to anywhere on the 'C Drive' (or the computer) by simply typing in the path into the address bar same as other browsers, (ex. file:///C:/) is the root drive and you can access whatever. I do not want to have students typing in paths into the address bar. The students are prevented from accessing any files or folders in that drive via GPO but does anyone know of a way to block that feature completely? It's disabled through IE with a GPO but cannot see a policy to disable it for Chrome.
  3. Could anyone share their Google - > Google Chrome GPO setting with me so I have something to base our own policy off of?
  4. and you used powershell to import the words from a CSV? all i can see is one work entries
  5. I specifically want it for exchange but it wouldn't hurt to have the DLP running over sharepoint and onedrive files too How do you do yours?
  6. All sorted now via ACL's Thanks to all for your input
  7. Only reason we ever used IE was because we had a sharepoint 2010 intranet with SIMS integration setup by a company called CoreECS (now liquidated) and chrome didn't play nicely with AD and SSO at the time We ditched Sims Learning Gateway and now use Sharepoint on Office365 for our intranet and SSO works seamlessly via both IE and Chrome - so time to change We do have both Office365 and Gsuite platforms setup with AD synchronizations for the school
  8. Has anyone made the shift from internet explorer to Chrome Browser for Enterprise as their default staff and student internet browser? been looking at this and really want to change as I hate IE : https://enterprise.google.com/chrome/chrome-browser/ If so any pro or cons about the changeover?
  9. We don't use windows wireless devices, nor can I see us doing so in the near future I was having issues multiple issues with various adobe CC, the only solution I could get working was to redirect appdata to homedrives But yes you are correct about NTFS permissions - inherited permissions allowed authenticated users read access - when I started this post I disabled inheritance and removed this group from our students home drive share, a few hours in its only 200 folders in from the 2000 it has left to do I am hoping when it is finished Access Based Enumeration will kick in and prevent access to other students folders However I would further like to lock down file explorer by disallowing common %% UNC paths from being accessed via the windows 10 search menu
  10. Yes thats probably why you cant replicate it - I redirect appdata to their network home drive since we found issues with some apps redirecting to the restricted c drive policy Out of interested though try %homeshare% and see if they can traverse back like that too
  11. Version 1709 See how its allowed me to access the network location in the background window? if i put %appdata% into the file explorer window they are unable to browse and get this message
  12. Just found out if a student types %appdata% in the windows 10 search menu they are then able to traverse into the file server and view other students files We had this disabled in file explorer in windows 7 and stopped them from accessing it can anyone advise on how to lock it down on the search menu please?
  13. this is such a PIA when using xbox, when my kids sign in everytime it asks me as a parent to sign in and enter CC info - when i do this it just loops back and asks me again - have to switch the game off and log them in from the home screen where again it prompts however you can select "skip for now" which actually works from this screen
  14. Thanks everyone, setting appdata redirect back to default via GPO worked
  15. Yes it doesn't show any useful information on the crash, strangely enough though when I have auto-scroll enabled it crashed at the "reading preferences" splash screen and not the "initializing Panels" one
  16. We are using latest version of photoshop CC 2018 on windows 10 1703 and above When the media teacher opens it, its crashes on the splash screen whilst "initializing panels". This issue is specific to this user only and the crash report is blank This happens on any workstation he logs into, those same workstations load photoshop fine for other staff and students I can right click on photoshop and "run as different user" whilst logged in as him and photoshop loads fine All other Adobe applications work fine for him Tried to delete his local profile, programdata and appdata folders, resulted in no joy We don't use roaming profiles When we tried him on a windows 10 machine with 1607 it works for him, also works with windows 7 Has anyone else experienced this issue please enlighten us how to fix it? Adobe forums aren't much help, its taken two of us a week of diagnosing without any luck on resolving it so far
  17. It's a desktop MB, trying to get it to boot setup or bios menu it prompts for the password
  18. I have one of these motherboards, unfortunately setting our admin BIOS password on the PC it was installed on slipped under our radar Despite clearing the CMOS JBAT1 whilst powering off for 15 seconds (and also trying 24 hours) the password still does not clear from the BIOS I contacted MSI, this was their response : WTH!! In all my 18 years of working with motherboards its the first time i've come across a mainboard which doesn't allow admin bios password resetting I would change the BIOS chip if the manual would show where its located, another FAIL by MSI Be warned, stay away from this brand
  19. Hi All, Our VL is due for renewal soon and I'm on the market for a good knowledgeable Microsoft Volume licensing supplier, any recommendations?

  21. We use unifi and built the system in house over the summer holidays - whole system across two sites cost us £3200 for all the ap's and 4 technicians 2 weeks of work over the summer holidays we run it across 2 sites - love it works great as a set and forget system
  22. Joomla is a dead/dying platform, I used to use it for an intranet back in 2005 but I wouldn't use anything besides WordPress these days Checkout your site speed, it's marked as poor according to google so wouldn't rank well in it's listings, this link shows you what you will need to do in order to speed it up https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.northgateprimary.norfolk.sch.uk%2F&tab=mobile
  23. Could anyone direct me on how to disable the ability for students and staff to change their photos in O365? And also bulk remove those that have uploaded their own already
  24. Am I wrong in thinking I can have my O365 group in my left hand pane similar to an actual mailbox? If not then how do you get it to display?
  25. took us almost 3 days to restore a backup due to an issue with the log files, hence sparked the need to move over to office365 - I know there are ways to purge the logs but that job sometimes gets overlooked
