Registering for a .ac.uk domain name
chrisjako posted a topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Could anyone clarify this for me, We are a large secondary school with 400+ 6th form students, when asking JISC to register for a .ac.uk domain name i was told by a phone operator at JISC that we need to be a primarily based 6th form school in order to register. Days prior to the call I submitted an application for a .ac.uk domain name and we paid the fee for it. Thinking it would be rejected I dismissed pursuing the application process and now when I login to my domain name registrar the .ac.uk domain name is now appearing in the control panel. Has anyone else in a secondary school managed to get a .ac.uk name? or have I managed to register one by mistake? -
Just wanted to know what are peoples thoughts on keeping archived teams. Do you delete them after a year of being archived or keep them indefinitely?

Hey folks, I need to call upon the collective powers that be on this forum to try help figure out why Windows 10 logins randomly add ".domain" to a users profile within the C:\Users path Our major issue with this is that our group policy maps known folder locations to c:\users\username\Onedrive\ so when they login and get c:\users\username.domain\ as a profile path they dont get their desktop or documents redirected to the correct location. Onedrive which is setup to SSO on login also crashes out with a 0x8004de40 error We do not use roaming profiles or map home drives, everything in the profile section in AD is empty Now, I know the fix and workaround: 1) Log user off 2) Delete folder : c:\users\username.domain 3) Delete registry key machinename\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\sidnumber 4) Log user back in 5) Close OneDrive and open CMD to run netsh winsock reset catalog - This fixes the 0x8004de40 error However i would like to try get the the route of the problem and try implement a permanent fix so any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, out of 200 daily logins by staff we have to tackle this issue on average 5 times per day, it's not the same staff and not the same computers the issue arises on so I am ruling out hardware and user account specific probable causes.

CCSGraphWebClientApp Modifying usernames in Azure

*bump* another MS call for 4 hours this morning and still no joy -
This is the same setup we have, unifi is installed on a DC where DHCP dishes out VLAN 10 BYOD traffic with radius set to tunnel the traffic to VLAN 10 It doesn't take much to run the controller so any machine will do My only gripe with SW is dishing out the SSL certificate for the first time via radius, looking for a way to auto push it out as soon as you authenticate but not having any joy with that so far

"Should" being the keyword here I like the sway link, will pass that onto our communications officer, thanks

Maybe so however, out of all my 168 teaching staff less then 3% will have even heard of keynote let alone know how to use it, it would not be feasible trying to educate them into moving over from PowerPoint to keynote It took a deadly virus In 2020 to convince them to start using office365 apps after I had it installed, regularly promoted and available to them since 2016

Is there a way to get similar teams insights statistics for IT admins as a whole school collection? I have a member of staff who want to know how many assignments have been looked at and submitted across all the teams, the general report on admin doesn't give this information however insights does but its only for owners of each individual team

@Brimstone - Is this something you have enforced through your MDM?

I think our problem is that our teacher use powerpoint, some kids have reported links not working when using ipad, also when teaching in teams the top and bottom of the screens seem to be cut off when powerpoint teaching
-
Thanks I will take a look Feedback from a few teachers and students is that office365 and teams is not great on an iPad - looks like we may go down the route of a pentium laptop

Replacing student paper planners with an app
chrisjako replied to chrisjako's topic in How do you do....it?
He wants an app for immediate updates to individual timetables - messaging services etc. Said he was very confident that it will massively improve communication between staff and students. Student voice has clearly indicated that they are far more likely to interact and use a planner on their phone than on a piece of paper. -
also spotlight your video as the host, this doesn't allow any other to take over speaker view
-
Schedule the meeting, go to edit in and switch off the option under VIDEO -> PARTICIPANT = OFF

My head of 6th form have just asked me about replacing planners for 6th form with some sort of app Currently we spend around £1k per annum on physical paper planners, with the school now heavily dependent on Office365 with SDS I was wondering if there is some for of integrated solution out there already available?

Yes you can still buy on premises licenses Been told each staff m365 licence you buy you get 40 free student ones I never went ahead though as I started looking into UEV but then covid19 hit and my attention was diverted

Can anyone spread any light as to why CCSGraphWebClientApp is modifying my usernames in Azure? Not even Microsoft know, randomly my student usernames are changed from fort example [email protected] to the format [email protected], teachers are [email protected] On AD user proxy addresses no change takes placed it keeps the proper format - only happens in Azure

Thanks i'll give the XML a try The "Keep favorites in sync between Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge" seems to have been removed from latest GPO fileset
