We looked at your solution as part of the tender process, whilst i agree fortigate seems like a solid high end solution, i was put off with SBB outtages for the actual internet service, being on other network manager forums it seems like you have suffered with a few more UK outtages since we moved all our schools away. For the schools we had to move off SBB, the exit procedure was a bit of a circus which has left a bitter taste tbh.

Our LEA had that solution, when the main box goes down every site is totally screwed, the way we have it now is more resilient (from past experiences) - we don’t have essential services on VPN for secondary to primary connectivity, its more for convenience in that manner The VPN is only essential for one of the secondaries which is a split site school 1 mile apart that shares printing, canteen and financial system

We have a smoothwall multi tenant build across our MAT: 1 x Parent S15 in secondaries 1 x Child S10 in secondaries 15 x Child S1 in primaries In the past been a big advocate of their solution in education however, Our secondaries are split-site so we depend on internet breakout and smoothwall VPN for some essential services, for example our canteen civica cashless system, papercut and Peice of Sh* Financials (PSF) Until our suppliers offer a proper cloud based solution for these services, we are at the mercy of the VPN mutli tenant build solution provided for by smoothwall We seem to be facing issues on regular basis, VPN control randomly failing, web content filter service not working, system logs getting full despite settings telling logs to recycle. A handful of S1 boxes where handed over to us with default username and password along with SSH access so got comprimised, we where blamed for this by the installations team for not changing them after they where the ones who had configured the multi tenant build. Kids have been unable to eat as we are cashless and cannot checkout at the tills, our examination officer has been unable to download papers this morning, when printing goes down, the guy who sells pitchforks to the staff mob around the corner rubs his hands together in glee, it's becoming so disruptive I'm now no longer an advocate of their solution and looking for alternatives Yes we have backup procedures but still its not ideal when i or the senior techs are offsite trying to implement them remotely on a last minute basis What alternatives are their for a MAT build, i realise every company has its flaws, i just want to keep options open when it comes to renewal

I'm sure this is something that is a widespread concern at the moment with regards to plagiarism; but I am concerned that students are completing coursework using AI ChatGPT and then using a paraphrasing tool to change the wording. We can use Senso when students are doing pc work in lessons to check at a quick glance that they are on task, a teacher reported to see a student work on his business coursework by entering a prompt and then pasting this into the paraphrasing tool Quillbot. I suspect other students have done this for their exam preparation but it is really difficult to prove. We have a duty to ensure work is in students' own words before sending samples to the exam board but I'm not sure how we can do this effectively. We are approaching the quotation phase of our connect the classroom project, and I have just been given the models of Aruba kit for the install. Researching the model i see the latest Aruba AP's also have Zigbee. I have a fairly smart home, to the point I can tell Alexa to cut my grass and my robot lawmower will begin it's next cycle (its scheduled to do it anyway, just really a party trick more than anything else) so I am quite familiar with smart home use cases. However, I'm looking to find best use cases for smart control and automation in a school building, the most obvious is lights, temperature control and possibly locks I want to take advantage of this technology to try save make us more efficient where possible, does anyone have such use cases they can share?

Update: After 38 hours of having my head buried in this issue, a simple out of hours restart of site B smoothwall box fixed the problem - still don't know what the underlying issue was but at least i know my configuration was correct My smoothwall fanboy karma score died a little today

No, my DNS setup is golden with proper name servers, reverse zone and zone transfers configured - diagnostics have been run and its all fine I've just run a port scan (from site A) to site B printer and it finds tcp 21,80,443,515,631 also returning back the DNS name from the IP scan The GUI i'm trying to access from site A is the IP anyway, not the DNS name, neither work regardless waiting for the day end now so I can plug a laptop directly into my main Smoothwall lan interface to remove any of the procurve switches we use out of the equation

No, when I remove the manual proxy setting from client on site A, it cannot connect to the printer gui on site B

We have 2 smoothwall boxes setup on IPSEC to talk to each other I can ping devices from site A to site B but i have a printer on site B which doesnt load the web gui from a workstation on site A, it does load from site B directly workstations Firewall for IPSEC on both smoothwall boxs is set to allow anything inbound and outbound to the IPSEC interfaces Any suggestions as to why web browsing devices is getting blocked? What i have found so far - Wireshark suggests there is packet loss - Setting the client internet options to manual proxy on port 8081 works - however this isn't a viable resolution - Smoothwall itself returns the correct GUI pages when using putty to test

We are moving a school away from the LA to their own private Office365 tenant using microsoft's guide to a cross-tenant online only migration, I have successfully setup the source and target servers I am stuck on configuring the users exchangeguid and emailaddress for the legacyDN entry needed for the endpoint migration to continue All users are in Office365 via AD connect, i need to set each users -exchangeGUID and -emailaddress via powershell, however AD connect sets users up as a 'mailbox' rather then 'mailuser', of which set-mailbox -exchangeguid does not work within powershell (unrecognised command) Has anyone come across this issue before and how did you resolve?

It's our main internet line and unfortunately we have no backup line Whilst I get this sorted, can anyone recommend a mobile data router i can get as an interim solution ?

Yes site 1 and PBX are on the same subnet, the failover PBX is on site 2 I've decided to use an old smoothwall S8 box as an SBC controller, they have I7's in them with 4GB RAM and i've been told by a titanium 3CX reseller it should easily handle 200 extensions simultaneously running - we are only licenced for 32 anyway and a custom 3CX report shows only 12 have ever been in use at any one time

My 2 sites have Smoothwall connected VPN to join our domain and networks Site 1 on the subnet where my 3CX PBX is hosted the portal picks up provisioning phones no problem. Site 2 I have to connect DHCP reserve the handsets IP address, then add option 66 to point to the unique handsets provisioning URL, plus add the mac address to 3CX prior - it's a long winded way round of doing it in comparison to site 1, but it at least works. Can anyone offer advice on how to get 3CX to detect handsets on my site 2 for provisioning? I can't setup a SBC for site 2 as there are over 120 handsets which is pushing the boundaries of SBC

After migrating to Office365 I now have a redundant 46TB Dell R720 file server I want to make into a Debian backup server, to backup system images of my remaining onsite servers, domain controllers, sql and CCTV including backups off servers in a remote building site. Any advice on what package would be good to install? I've been looking at UrBackup but if anyone has any recommendations I would be glad to hear them
