First day back for the staff and 8 computers haven't updated, is there a time out on the deployment? I am really gettting sick of every time there is a Sims update there is an issue. Why can't you force an update instead of having to ask the teachers to run the simsapplication setup to force it? At least intouch is getting sorted.

Apologies, I was told a while back that it did batches of clients resulting in some taking q while to update. I would still say the process is flawed, if a client was off when the update happens the incompatible database error appears and there is no way for the user to know why. Solus can take a while to think about getting its update...shouldn't the agent instantly ask the server what version I am on? "Hi I am desktop28, what version of sims should I be running" if its the wrong version a pop up should tell them to sit tight and shut up. Just my 2 penneth

Thanks for this, the UK support sorted me out straight away with an issue on the box. As I am testing I won't do the ad authentication just yet. I uploaded all staff details and its sent them all out invites so I have a few testers. One teacher did get back to me regarding the US bias. He said the standards aren't up to date or haven't followed the UK curriculum. Sciences not bring split, and there is no ks5 stuff. I think the grades bit when you allocate pupils to a year needs to say year. We had to put up with favorites for years so need to make a stand now.

Just spoke to them, at least 2 more months for non hosted sites... and then asked if I wanted to become hosted.

Morning, Has anyone got the update to Eclipse.Net that was slated back in january? I was told back then that it was being tested but not heard anything, hosted were going to get it first and then locally hosted peeps. There is a fix we are waiting for thats included but they aren't the best company I was dealt with.

So is there no way to let them use their AD passwords?

So I was testing out some new filtering software and testing the way it can block P2P. I haven't used torrentz for ages (since I became legit) so I installed Vuze and tested it on an episode of The walking dead... the finale that will be shown this Friday. It did block it then in curiostiy I allowed it and let it download. Damn good end to the series, i would advise peopel to watch it as its full on. I do wonder which English actor will be showing up in Season 4 with a dodgy American accent. Maybe Stephen Fry?? PS. I never download illegal stuff ever and lied about this Mr CIA spying on me. That's the issue with solus 3, it updates the clients in batches. If you have 100+ and the update happens overnight there will be incompatible errors. I usually test it works then rdp in and run it. Then remotely start the computers to run the client upgrade. It's a major ommision there isn't a check update option in the solud client taskbar. Solus 2 was easier.

I have a LS test box till May so don't want to do too much configuring but fancy rollign out MBC to staff. The way you upload the users and groups is interesting. Real shame it doesn't have SSO, it would be useful for our kids not to have to remember more than one password. Also... not too keen on the US based theme, be nice if they UK'd it. Ohh and if they get a timetable facilty... boom... be perfect.

I like Zombie films but this underwhelms me. Not sure how they will end it as the book works really well. One of the best bit in the book is the one with the pilot crash landing and the bit with the dog owners, can't be in the film by the look at it.

Hopefully the Solus release wont get pulled as I have just manually updated the clients for the staff that I know are in school.

I set this up last week and just denied them access to gmail and left the Mx record as is. Seems to work fine. Only done staff up to now as kids don't have an email address in AD. Next job is to work out how to sync AD groups rather than distribution groups.

Been using clonezilla for years, I create a flat w7 image on the smallest hard drive I can fund then away I go, 90% of time it gets all its drivers. I did get it so its a bootable usb too which is cool. 6 mins.

40 minutes on the phone to BT. The DNS routing was failing on a few sites. When I did the MX lookup it failed too, I didn't use Googles DNS as I got through to BT. They tested the smarthost and its working and lo and behold, it started working on mine too. One thing that I stupidly did was have the wrong address space in the connector on the second connector I had already set up years ago so obviously I was getting an error on the connectors. So fingers crossed, its working again. My biggest worry is the reason it all failed. Now BT are adamant nothing had changed but the fact none of the routing into the school worked including SMTP and RDP suggests to me they have done something and not told me. I do need to sort out my secondary connection so I can do a bit of external testing whilst in school. Because they dynamically assign the router an IP address then just route the static IPs to that there is no was to tell if the assigned one is correct or their routing is.

Nope, got some queues forming with 451 4.4.0 primary target IP unable to connect errors when I just have it using DNS to route. Most emails seem to fly out but some are hanging.
