  1. Google - proxy.pac
  2. I've just gone to school.apple.com to see if it's any use, logged in and I just have their whirly thing whirling round in circles. Good stuff this innit?!
  3. So if you "Replicate Now" on a DC between it and all the others, it says it's replicated all the connections?
  4. I assumed the same, but then when "GB" was pointed out twice, and he stuck with it in his questioning of overkill, I wondered maybe not....
  5. Massively overkill. My previous school was 1,400 students, 1,000 iPads, and around 250 desktops and 100 laptops. They managed absolutely fine on 500meg, and that cost them something like £35k pa for the line, the hardware was on top of that.
  6. With some help from @cburrows I have now managed to upgrade them. Thanks to all for your input.
  7. I thought I was, but apparently I wasn't. @cburrows has now sent me some useful stuff.
  8. I'm trying to do it in stages.
  9. @cburrows - That would be very much appreciated. I'll PM you.
  10. That's the route I've taken, but it remains greyed out for me.
  11. These weren't purchased without the knowledge of the IT department, just purchased before I started here. They're a pig though aren't they? Guess I'll be taking them home......
  12. So I found out the other day that the school has Kindles (which I've never touched before here or anywhere else) and has had since before I started. They need updating. We have a "Kindle Keyboard (Wi-Fi,) (3rd Generation)" and a "Kindle Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display (4th and 5th Generation)". Neither will connect to our Wi-Fi as the both say the password is wrong and it isn't. You also can't specify a PROXY in either device and we require one. I figured I'll update them via USB. I've gone to http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200203720 and downloaded the correct (I believe) files but I can't get either of my Kindles to update. "Update Your Kindle" remains grayed out. Do I extract the file which I download? The e-ink is currently on 4.1.1 so I tried going to 4.1.2 and 4.1.3 with the same amount of success. Any suggestions please? I may just take it home and try there..... Thank you Stuart
  13. A move is literally that. It sets up the server at the new location and removes it from the old. Tends to lose network connectivity for no more than five seconds when I've done it.
  14. Wrong screenshot?
  15. So I'm coming to build my new domain. Everyone has an @DebEnhamhigh.co.uk email address, yet our OWA address is mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk so that is how our exchange server is set up to be viewed externally. I'm guessing my new domain I setup should be on the debenhamhigh.co.uk format rather than the debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk as we don't use that anywhere other than to access OWA?
  16. So what has anyone done with theirs? So far I've made it be a die, where you shake it and it displays in quick succession 15 random numbers and then stops on the last one, and a game where you move a two LED wide thing at the bottom of the screen and have to avoid the dropping things which speed up over time, then when you get hit it displays your score. I'm rapidly running out of ideas for it as a standalone unit though. I'm sure there's all sorts you could do plugging it in to things.
  17. Watched the last hour and a bit of "Olympus has fallen" last night. I did think it was ridiculous that the Americans didn't just say "kill the president if you like, we're leaving our boats where they are". And also a self destruct on a nuke doesn't detonate the nuke does it, so what were they panicking about with "Cerberus"? I was quite looking forward to seeing London has fallen, but that put me off a bit.
  18. If you're that worried, is it worth taking the disk you want to wipe out, wiping it in a different PC and then putting it back? Then when you install the OS, it will go on the one with all the free space.
  19. If there is, how will he apply it?
  20. @elsiegee40 - Title needs an edit as closing date is March, not June.
  21. Didn't realise you meant it won't boot from ANY CD. USB stick? USB CD even if it's a faulty internal?
  22. I booted from a Linux live CD on a Windows 2003 box with a RAID with a failed disk and it detected everything and let me copy files off. Worth a shot?
  23. Mine very infrequently pairs via the app either. Out of curiosity, without pairing it in the app, can you at least see it as a Bluetooth device in the list of available devices in your phones settings?
  24. Anyone having difficulty getting their bit to pair to a phone? I've had it a couple of times generate a number which needs to be typed in on the phone to pair it, but not very often. I'm trying to pair it whilst not in the app, which I assume is possible? I'm struggling to find a lot of troubleshooting stuff for it. Stuart
