  4. I wonder if anyone else has had problems installing a KMS key (via Volume activation tools) for Office Pro Plus 2016? I called MS up to have it added however KMS claims it is invalid. I will call them in the morning about it but in the mean time wondered if it was maybe a known issue? Thanks

    Dropbox

yes it is. Also free to schools (along with a few other perks such as googles unlimited storage or MS office free for all). If dropbox was free to schools I would be all for it but seems to me this setup is a disaster waiting to happen.

    BETT 2016

I hope Millbank is doing it's cocktail thing again. Anyway I need my yearly stash of new pens and talking to attractive oriental ladies.

Just to throw my hat into the ring with JoHimself here, seems odd to me to use dropbox over MS or Google who offer automated systems which sync with AD. Sorry its not exactly to do with your question but to me it sounds like someone in your IT department has a hardon for dropbox without thinking about the schools requirements.
  9. Hello all, Trying to get my head around how I would go around setting up single sign on for Google and 365 (Google priority) and am totally lost on what you need to do. Some say you can do it with LDAP which I have in place, some say you need ADFS servers and others say you can use Azure. If you can do it with LDAP enables alone, does anyone have a decent guide. Im not too silly but the pages I have found so far scare and confuse me. I did get a quote for ADFS a while back but seemed very overkill for what I want and although I don't have Azure, I do have 365 so surly it cant be too much cost involved in that if it does the job. I have looked at some guides but they don't really help me understand the simplest way of doing it. Setting up ADFS looked fairly easy on the guides but feel there is something waiting to go wrong if I start playing wit that. I'm happy to pay a company to just "make it work" if someone can recommend somewhere which will reply to my email and give me a quote. Preferably a Google reseller who has done this before. Thanks all. I hate being confused on things like this as I am sure it is fairly straight forward.
  10. Room booking system all the way.
  11. If you use Google apps for education you can use Blogspot, safe in the knowledge you can control passwords.
  12. thank you all. I am not 100% there yet as there are some ports being blocked on the licence server but it seems to deploy quite well for something which is about 17GB and should have it sorted by late morning.
  13. Don't want to throw personalised quotes around on here but we just signed up to schoolcomms and believe you would be happy after a chat with them.
  14. Somehow managed to place this in here rather than educational software thread. Sorry folks.
  15. I know this is lazy of me and sorry in advance but am looking for any known "gotchas" with deploying Autocad on a network. I am bloody busy at the moment and a couple of teachers have decided they want to run the F1 Autocad competition. I asked a tech to deploy it but he ran into issues after declaring the network install method is never going to work, performed a few local installs and said something about needing access to the default profile on the machine.... He then went to Florida for 2 weeks so my Monday job is to knock this thing out as soon as humanly possible. As I said, lazy sounding I know to ask for help before even looking properly at the thing but if anyone out there knows of any obvious issues with the thing I would so appreciate. My job list is getting out of hand and cant cope with another "install software just to find error after bloody error". Thank you all in advance. Stressed and miserable network manager!
  16. because I have a functioning Ruckus system in place and not the money to rip the whole thing out so really just patching the darker areas and new areas of the school rather than start from scratch. Just looking to put a few more AP's in areas and new AP's to handle increased workload.
  17. We ditched securus last year as it was clunky to look through and its list of words it would watch for was written by someone born in 1910. We have Lightspeed reports in place so can monitor certain students if we wish and are going to look for a solution to educate students and parents at BETT this year rather than the IT route.
  18. Have many people here upgraded wireless yourself? I have a pretty OK system in place but its starting to show signs of needing improving what with extra devices and new parts of the building popping up. I have some funds put aside for this and a wireless survey booked but was let down at the last minute so got me thinking if it really is all that hard to do? In seconds me and my tech had a laptop with wireless range testing software on it. I am in the process of purchasing an updated access point so I can test how much of a difference that makes in areas and the time aspect aside, can anyone tell me of any massive flaw I am missing in getting a "pro" to do this? Im only upgrading my current solution as I dont have the funds to rip it all out and start again so no huge tender process required.
  19. My ICT teacher asked me for Microsoft virtual PC 2006 to be installed over the network about a year ago... I would run over my own parents to have a member of staff who was a little forward thinking...
  20. wait you had a teacher excited about a piece of software built in the past decade....... You sir are the most lucky person on these forums and wish to one day emulate you!
  21. ShareX on Steam Not tested myself but claims to do the job for free.
  22. Stone pick mine up. Done it twice so far for us and they turn up early armed with paperwork. All goes very well.
  23. I totally agree but you have not met my staff. I know you can save thousands and improve efficiency but my SLT wont have it.
  24. Long story short (to any future people).... I just found a macro maker and programmed the commands in to it and ran it 4000 times while I got a coffee. Its not THE fix, but a fix.
  25. Whats the fasted connection schools broadband will offer? I looked into it a while back and seemed to list 80 as the highest. Im going to need at least 150mbps.
