Are you trying to do it for just a specific user, or in general @newpersn ? I normally just filter ours to the specific student if we need it, and the results are then much smaller, but depends if you are pointing your users to the userproxy, or if your still using the old single use/transparent proxy setting (in which case can filter it by IP if you know which device a user was on during a specific window)

How users sign in will depend on the method you want to use. In a traditional network, you would have all users in your AD and sync them up to Entra where you assign your Office 365 licence, but you can just as easily have pure cloud only accounts, especially if you go down the route of having only Entra joined devices and not Hybrid joined. Either option, you can assign a licence type to a user group, so you don't have to manually assign licences to every user, just add the user to a "Student" group which gets assigned the "A3 Student User Licence" and the specific apps you want, or to a "Staff" group to assign the "A3 for Faculty Licence". The group can either be purely a "Cloud Only" group, or can be a local AD group, it doesn't matter. If the user signs in to the device with the user account/e-mail address associated with the Entra account, Office will sign in. If you aren't signing in (such as a home device and you have the ProPlus option), then once Office 365 is installed you just sign in with your Entra username and password. Most of our devices are Hybrid Joined devices, so they all exist in AD, but devices have Office 365 installed in Shared Licencing mode so as a user logs on, Office is licenced based on that users rights.. so if Joe Smith has a network account, but we've not provided them with a Office 365 licence, Word pops up the nice red bar saying "The product is not licenced" Now which licence agreement would be best for your use can depend a lot on what existing licences you have, what you want to do etc. On the old OVS-ESS agreements, you would get your "Core Cal" pack which gave you your server connection CALS for joining the AD etc, as well as your Office installation. These days having a MS 365 A3 is similar as it includes your server CALS (needed if your connecting to Windows servers), but also licences you for InTune/Conditional Access/MFA etc which might be a better option over just a Office 365 A3. If your moving from a pure Google environment with no onsite Windows Active Directory setup, then it's worth finding a good reseller to go through the licencing route, as you don't want to find out you don't have the correct licence type so your users aren't licenced to access a Windows DHCP server for example.

When I setup our Address Book Policies many moons ago, I used "Office" field in AD instead of assigning them to AD groups, as it was the recommended method to use (even the extentionAttribute ones could be used) You might find that is a method method that the groups

Insomnia.. used to be worthwhile going to the summer one when they actually had lots of other booths in the NEC, but it went downhill after i63. However the bars at the NEC (and the Ibis hotels) certainly got a lot of custom from us during i65

No you didn't read it. For each A3 Faculty licence (not student since they are free add-ons) you get an additional 50Gb to your pool on top of the 100Tb pool. Taken from the MS site previously linked User storage is limited to 100Gb regardless of your tenancy pool total, since your pool needs to cover Staff users, Student users, Teams Storage, SharePoint Storage etc.
-
It depends what licence agreement your on. If you've moved to A3 or A5, you get an additional 50Gb per licence on top of the base 100Tb pool. So for us with 135 A3 licences we should have an additional 6Tb of storage on top of that pool.. and we have about 650 A3 for Faculty licences for the MAT which is another 370Tb If your still on A1 licences then you are stuck at that 100TB pool.

Your in luck, I still have the files DJ-1701 left on our server when we upgraded our 2 units. Copy the upgrade file out of the folder, as the rest of the files are the Windows 10 x64 drivers MDX-40A x64.7z

It depends on which supplier you go through, which scheme your on etc. Talking to companies like VeryPC and Pugh can point you in the correct direction as costs for Education is normally per year and not per month like it shows on the MS 365 Site.

MS are currently rolling out the "New" Teams to most tenancies for Jan, so the old Machine Wide installer for "Classic" isn't going to be much use soon. Nothing wrong with just using the web version if your not using Teams on a day to day basis.

Already had one of the music teachers asking for the app to go onto the school iPad he has. Pointed out it's better on their personal phone otherwise they won't be able to logon elsewhere otherwise

The Users themselves still see the Recycle bin in their OneDrive view, so can always "educate" the students on how to restore their own files
-
MS have "hidden" the option to get to the users recycle bin from the GUI, however if you update the URL to change it from ?view=1 to ?view=5, you will see their deleted files

@Max_Power We've moved 5 of our 7 schools over to teams (last 2 will get done in the new year), and my site has been running it for the past year or so now. Was a bit of a learning curve for staff to get used to since we only put in handsets in "communal areas", or rooms where having a computer wasn't ideal (such as sick room), and everyone else uses headsets with the Teams App. It's certainly allows us greater flexibility for setting up call queues and auto attendants compared to our legacy PBX system, and the fact voice mails get e-mailed means no more having to go to specific handset to recall the absence line as anyone in the group can read it.

We have a dedicated account for creating the Teams and use that as one of the Owners, so that it doesn't clutter up our own mailboxes, and means if we need to assist staff with accessing resources within the Team it's reasonable quick to open a new browser session with those credentials, without hunting for the right team in the admin console (as we have over 500 teams) then adding the account, then accessing Teams to help.
-
Well with how the New Teams is deployed out, you won't need the "machine wide" installer anymore, since it's just a blasted MS App (which also means making shortcut can be a pain if the app number changes as it's currently in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MSTeams_23272.2707.2453.769_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\ms-teams.exe)
-
We have been using the Machine Wide Installer, and with Windows 11 22H2 build, it meant we also had the "personal" version of Teams, as well as the "School or Work" version (difference being the colour of the square and the T on the logo) Deployed out Windows 22 23H2 this morning, and so far test stations don't have the "Personal" version of Teams in the educational build. As for rolling out the new teams, well you can download the msix file for offline deployment, and use the command line to update the package on the station.

Spellcheck on New Outlook and Outlook on the Web
Boredguy replied to stebo730's topic in Office Software
Wonder if the HTML spellchecking in OWA (and new Outlook client) has an issue with latest build from Chromium as spell checking in OWA only appears to work if you switch the e-mail into plain text instead of the default HTML. Not tried on a different browser engine yet. -
How do I manually force a password sync between AD and 365
Boredguy replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
If you already have a copy running on a 2016, you can stop the version on the 2012 server as long as both are configured the same. You generally only need 1 copy of it running on your network at any one time otherwise it gets confused. -
How do I manually force a password sync between AD and 365
Boredguy replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
You are running version 2 of the Entra Connect/Azure AD Connect, and not still on version 1 on the 2012 server. You might be best to export your current schema from Entra Connect, and install a new version of the client on a 2019 or higher server. https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home#/dirsyncmanagement will show you when your last password sync was -
We set it for all Staff users, but use the group section to apply the default settings when new user accounts are created. You can bulk set the option from the users -> Bulk Update and apply it to a group the users are in (in our case "Teachers" and "Students")

In Papercut we setup "Accounts" for each of our departmental areas and they are assigned to the corresponding AD Group to populate the membership. Staff Accounts are configured so that printing gives a "Account Selection" option which is set to only allow users to print from the shared accounts list and while charging is from personal account it's also allocated to the shared account for reporting. This way a user can pick from the drop down when printing (or on the copiers) which department to assign that job to, and then each month we run a invoice report on the account areas which gives the department totals.

Other than our English AQA course that needs files sending off which they have no Password for on their website, and the helpdesk said there was no requirement, so still encrypting it and inclosing a note with contact details for our Exams Officer to get the password.
