  1. Time to update all 6 Tenancies....
  2. All our 5 secondary schools use normal local profiles, with redirected documents folders to the OneDrive path (not known folder redirection) so nothing breaks before the sync happens, and profiles are deleted on logoff or up to 60 days depending on workstation. Users are directed to save to the built-in "OneDrive" option in Office apps which negates the client sync issue as it's saved directly to the web, so only applications that really have a potential for not syncing if a student logs off straight away is Adobe and Serif suites. We don't have any file servers storing any user profile/data so unlike the FSLogix option there is no VHDX, but in the last 2 years there have only been a handful of instances where files users have worked on have not been accessible. It depends if you want to keep a central vhdx container for each user, or decease your centralised storage as was our choice since we've moved as much to OneDrive/SharePoint as possible for ease of access
  3. Doing a quick search in the Google Sheet Functions, putting the old style cell reference should be all you need to change. They do have something similar to the Excel Table function, but it looks a bit more involved, but as long as you set your cell range to be big enough or you remember to update the formulas as you add items it should work, where as the Excel Table method automatically extended the range to make it easier in the long run.
  4. Ah the downsides of Google Sheets... You can replace the replace the formats easily enough to be cell references So the "Age" formula would go from =DATEDIF([@DOP],TODAY(),"y") to become =DATEDIF([i2],TODAY(),"y") The CountIf/CountIFs you would replace Assets[Age] with J2:J9 I'm not 100% sure if Google supports the CountIFS as I only use Office365
  5. Here should be a copy of your example data. Converted your information into a Table by using the "Format as Table" option and called it Assets. Column headers are used in the forumla. New row to get the number of years old the asset is based off todays date. Information in Col L and M is your age range, so it's under 1 year via a CountIf From 1 to 3 and 3 to 5 with a CountIfs Over 5 with a Count Book1.xlsx
  6. Might be a bit overkill, but also an option. Personally these days for something like what the OP has mentioned, I'd set all that information in Excel to be a Table and give it a name. That way the formulas refer to column headers in the table so you don't have to expand the selection range if you add additional items as the table automatically updates.
  7. Assuming the Age is in Column B, a simple CountIf should do. If you have 400 rows, and you have the value "1yr" in the cell (other text is available) then drop this in a cell and it should give a result your after. =CountIf(B2:B400,"1yr") CountIFS would be if you want to have 2 or more ranges of criteria to match
  8. Well as long as you have a TV licence, not really much reason to ban the game if SLT/Teachers want to show it. Apparently we're showing it in the hall and teachers can also show it in classes. Personally I can't see why education should be disrupted for the afternoon for a single game. Not as if we're doing it for any other teams where students or staff might have come from. Now if your school doesn't have a TV licence then you can't show it but thats a whole different issue.
  9. The new look can be rolled out to different users on the same tenancy randomly. Would be nice if it was everyone all at once at times, but I've got users that are still on old style and new style. As LeMarchand said, the bar will be there when your composing your e-mail, but will be lighter than before. IT won't be able to switch the scheme back to the old one though as we are at the whim of Microsoft
  10. Microsoft are always updating the interface in Office 365, and thats the latest version of Outlook App.
  11. Powershell A simple for loop to read a CSV file and rename command could do it. Rename-Item -Path -NewName
  12. Its sometimes handy to switch the IP back to an existing one when the DNS role has been removed, especially if you've lots of devices with static IPs pointing to that DNS box, but it's nothing too major.
  13. Well if the network already has 2 DC's in place, not really a need to let users know, as adding a new DC doesn't impact them, and migrating DHCP between servers is reasonably painless as well these days and stations will only worry about that when they need to contact it again. If there was just a single DC.. yep letting them know there may be downtime is fine... but adding and moving FMSO roles etc should be simple. DNS these days can be AD Linked so adding a new DC with DNS role automatically picks up the zones and conditional forwarders without needing to do anything extra.
  14. We've been using OneDrive for our users storage for a while now and just using the standard "AllUser" installation of OneDrive on Demand. Our Users GPO has a GPP Policy to create the OneDrive - SchoolName folder in the C:\Users\UserName folder at logon so that the Folder Redirection works even before OneDrive has connected. Same Policy has GPP registry values for OneDrive so that it automatically signs in as the user with their e-mail address etc. Only issue is the couple of times a year when the OneDrive client decides it needs to update so it takes a bit longer before it connects at logon. This was the method we used, and have rolled it out to all the schools in our Trust. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/216456-microsoft-onedrive-365-a.html We have not bothered mapping or allowing access to SharePoint/Teams files via the old Windows Explorer View, instead users are directed to use the Website to access the resources or via the Sites link within Office applications.
  15. These days offloading your file storage to Office 365/G-Suite for access from anywhere is sometimes the easier option than having to go to the trouble of VPN tunnels or third party apps.
  16. and there I was thinking it was a shed tracker.
  17. Yep the team over there are good like that. As I knew the distance and checked the features for the unit I wanted, I just cut out that middle man step, plus needed it PDQ as the old one had a failing bulb, and a donated one turned off mid use 4 days before Open Evening... so overnight delivery of a new unit was in order before we could get a PO authorised. Any good AV supplier should be able to provide alternatives if you let them know what you currently have.
  18. It's actually down to the maths. If you know what size your projected image needs to be, and the current throw distance, then most manufactures have a throw chart available. The Viewsonic LS750WU we included on it's spec sheet the maximum throw distance (which was 1 meter further than our current pole location). Units like this one, and the Epsons also have "Quick Corners" so even if your projector is slightly out of alightment, you can make the image look square. Projectors in this type of range also have adjustable lenses to move the image, plus digital/optical zoom in case your slightly too far away and can't make the image smaller via the normal dials.
  19. It depends on the size of the image your wanting, and how your hall is setup. A couple if us have recently just installed a 5000 Lumen Laser Viewsonic projector to replace aging ones because it was more cost effective than a screen for the size of image. Our main hall has a 3 meter wide projection screen (and while it's still a 4:3 screen the projector can do 16:9), which works our to about a diagonal display area of 1355 inches (if I trust the online calculator). Considering the projector was only around £1700 which is similar price we paid for a 65" Display panel.... it was a no brainer especially as the hall has a stage so having a very large movable screen isn't really an option.
  20. As your using AAD Sync, Teams picks up the Display name field from AD. We updated all our students names in Lockdown 1 to be Surname, Forename instead of Forename Surname to aid teachers taking a register. It can take up to 48 hours for Teams to show the display name change so don't panic if it doesn't appear straight away. It will also update the information shown in internal e-mails, so if they send to students maybe they need to decide which they want....
  21. You could use a Microsoft Form, since you can select it to accept anonymous entries and allow submission from users outside your tenancy (we use it all the time for parent surveys) It can allow files to be uploaded to it.
  22. I'd agree with the others, it will be more cost effective to look at replacing that projector with a newer EB-X49 which will be more powerful that the old S4. Yes it's only £110 for an original bulb compared to £368 for the X49 (slightly cheaper for the X39 which is 3500 lumens compared to 3600 but both twice the power of the S4) Depending on your existing mount, if it's not a universal one and the bolt patterns don't match up, a nice A4 sheet of 4mm Aluminium and some bolts can be used to mount it to an existing bracket (did that on around 30 Promethean brackets for the old Sanyo projectors) Also those models have corner keystone adjustment so even if the projector is off centre compared to the old one, you can compensate without it being a terrible keystone.
  23. That option has been in Outlook application for a while, but requires the application to generally be running at the time for the message to be sent as it just sits in the outbox. If you close Outlook the message will not send until it's reopened so like the other delay send, it's of limited value and requires users to manually make the change as it's not something that we can push out centrally (especially when these days we want users to go to the web version as it saves downloading months of e-mails all the time)
  24. When we looked, the simple answer was "no". There is a great youTube video from one of the Office 365 content creators going through "recalling e-mail" and how to setup delivery delay (has to be user side, you can't do it centrally)
  25. Are your tills on the same IP range as the server? Since the start of term our tills and workstations decided to stop recording new biometric prints giving a "socket error #10060" on stations and "parameter incorrect" on the tills. I've gotten round it on the tills by going into the programdata folder and finding the impactclient.ini file and changing the IP address for the hostname for the tills, and I'm having to look at switching the stations we do prints on during the year to have a 2nd NIC with access to the VLAN/IP Range that Impact server is configured to work with. I think something in a Windows update might have changed something since we had zero issues with our setup from November til July, but suddenly issues in Sept.
