I dont get this.(perhaps not a fog related problem) I have this 1 machine that fails to image. the machine itself seems to deploy without a problem but upon reboot it hasn't!!!!!! still the old image on the machine (orgi ally deployed with RIS, this is driving me crazy. the machine itself is identical to 20 other machines, which all worked fine. even got the old windows CD out and did a full format of the drive before deploying with fog...... same again, old host OS still remains on the system! any ideas?

Last year we had no bells! this year we switched to a crazy 55min timetable and bells are slowly being turned off 1 by 1. biggest problem now is we have no am registration, straight into lesson 1. so we have a bell 3 minutes before. Lunchtime is crazy, KS3 have lunch while KS4 have 20 mins tutor session each day, 20mins everyone is out at lunch then KS3 have tutor session each day for the last 20mins. think there is a bell just before the KS3 tutor session. the fun comes in on Wednesday! lunchtime is early 11.45-12.45 and the kids finish at 2.30, instead of 3.30.

I still think the 9/11 documentary the 2 french brothers had done about the rookie firefighter was probably the best documentary ever aired on TV. Like theblacksheep said, i was suprised about the 'secret service' agent in WTC 7. He definately looked fairly clean considering all the dust around him. suppose he was in a cleaner part of the building, definatlety 1 to back the claims for the conspiracy theories. I had been helping out over the summer hols and was covering for 2 weeks at where i now work while the network manager was on paternity leave, found out on MSN and was laughing at the peson telling me as i thought he was joking. Also watched UA flight97? for the 1st time on sunday night and you can easily see and start to understand why it happened as what was happening was far far bigger than anyone had experienced before. The naivety of the traffic controllers when they assumed the plane was just turning around to land at either of the NYC airports.

Michael you are a legend. Just tried it on a machine and it worked! will see if it works on the rest 1st thing monday, sadly we get kicked out the building on fridays at 12.30 so haven't got time to do the rest just yet. so simple but works a treat. THANKS!

I have 60 1 year old Pc's with Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L Motherboards which run Acer Widescreen displays via intel graphics. Default resolution for these screens is 1440x900 and when building the master image everything is fine. i can set the screen res fine. After imaging these machines a bunch of them just resist seeing 1440x900 as a option which is 1 serious pain in the...... I would say the problem is on 10-15 machines spread across 2 rooms! Anyone any ideas? before i waste some time trying to fix the problem.

this just shows the problem F1 has with no in season testing. things falling off cars and no upcoming drivers to replace those that get injured by said pieces falling off cars! Although if he's still got the skills should make for a fun season.

1 of the 1st few confirmed cases in our small town was my techs parents, then he got a mild version over the weekend and was fine by monday. All fun

Just looking at some guide prices for our new college network and came across some Nortel network equipment. I've never seen/heard of nortel, so how do they rate against cisco/HP etc?

sorry kinda off topic! An example of what i feel is good management of resources although our teachers obviously didn't think this as we had top heavy pay where most people had extra points due to management responsibilities, 1st thing our head did when he arrived was slash the number of middle management and SLT. the effect has been a trippled training budget and once the pay protection drops off next year more IT Staff

I generally find in the long term we have less problems when machines have fresh images applied to them. Being 100% sure of what state the machines are in on the 1st day of term is a good thing. compared to a year or so of updates slowly slowing machines down! you might not like this bit but if you dont understand why we do it you shouldn't be in charge of a network sorry......

I suppose it all depends on how supportive your management is of your department. I suppose you could start by asking if you could Hide away for a few hours to get on with some development work ensuiring that everything is runnign smoothly and that staff are in place to cope while your 'Out'. SLT here go off site a couple of days per year to do the heavy planning stuff. oh and our college manager works a 4 day week , although tbh she really does the hours! infact we are both as sad as each other often having conversations late into the night via email (we both have push email to our phones, bad bad bad bad bad) With alot of tasks i have been asked to do over the next year or so i have been told i can 'lock' myself away for the day.

This is my 1st year where i have had 100% responsibilty for the planned summer work. Last year due to some ummm yeah..... i became the IT Dept, not really having the man power to do some real maintenance on the servers and just doing the absolute vital stuff such as deploying new kit. 2008/09 it seems we have just made do with what we had. Aim for this summer is to set a solid foundation for the IT Dept team allowing the school to move in the right direction in the college's last full year before we move to a £1.6million network in November 2010! new music suite, 15 pc's + software and various other items setup and test FOG (seems to be a comon theme!) migrate SEN from macs to PCs migrate science from macs to PCs Tidy 4 other IT suites build and test new images for all it suites and laptops + staff laptops with new software packages some work on our vle new skin to come into line with our new corparate image. Finalise new website for luanch when staff return for trainging day. Look at training materials for IT Team + finalise IT Team Handbook of policies and procedures create trainign materials for staff on various opensource packages. Ensure all documentation is updated with new corperate look APPOINT ATLEAST 1 APPRENTICE!!! migrate CMIS to SQL 2008. look at our filtering situation again. Get Joe from CPLTD to buy me a few drinks that he owes me Take my current IT Tech out for Lunch as a big thanks for his hard work in the past year. He came in for 1 day in the last week of last summer to help me and got offered a job the next day by our new head. few 8 hour meetings with IT Consultants. take up to 16 days holiday booked 8 off already but most are on fridays which are half days anyway although i'll end up rolling over 5! Almost forgot get ready for new intake and support our data manager on download day!

Annoying thing is you could do this in mac os 9! Was great untill we upgraded to os x. And would love to find a solution for good old windows!

im starting to come around to the idea of Frog 3.0. but some people have some really god aweful frog 3 layouts, but then again same can be said about moodle! or google apps education version is another option Staff use docs and calendar heavily here and we are looking at moving towards using mail next! ofcourse we dont rely on a RBC so have alot more control over out net connection choice so reliability hasn't been and issues for us!
