I am looking at whether we can get a bit of control over our printing. We use the free papercut but looking to buy into the NF licence for it. We still currently just buy printers one by one in each of the rooms that need them. Departments buy their own toners. But our IT department don't like that they buy the toners but other departments print in their classrooms. We also have 5 photocopiers around the school (3 in reprographics, 1 in staffroom and 1 in library). The photocopier prints are charged. I am currently using an iPhone but starting to like the look of android. I use Google for all my e-mails etc. Just wondering what people think is the best android phone out there. I like the look of the one plus 3 but the screen is too big. I don't want anything any bigger than 4.7" (current size). Any recommendations? Do you have any documents of plans, strategy etc you would be willing to share. How has it gone? Have you got chromebooks? If so any particular brand? Do parents have logins? Have you got it linked to your MIS to create groups, accounts etc?

I have two questions as my Microsoft EES agreement is due for renewal. With the iminent changes to Microsoft's EES licensing and the removal of discounts would i be better renewing on a 1 year or 3 year agreement? Previously to get proplus for our staff and students we had to buy MS Office on our EES agreement. Now i noticed a new licence appear in our Office 365 tenant called "Office 365 Education Plus for faculty" would that remain for example if we cancelled our MS Office SKU? Thanks

When you say you removed office do you mean completely from all computers? What about things like ms access for ICT courses or linking with sims? Do you know is there a way to find Google schools or is it just a case of posting on sites like this? Cheers

I am looking at trying to reduce costs for our school as we are currently financially struggling. We currently use office 365 but mainly for email and calendars. I have been looking more and more at GAFE as email will work well, google classroom looks like it could be a nice simple VLE for us as Moodle is getting a lot of complaints. There is also the side of being able to use chromebooks and purchase them for £180 each ish rather than paying £300-400 for laptops. Is there anyone that has recently 'gone google'. Is there a way to see which companies are working with microsoft on sds offerings?

I have a question about the schools that do not have a VLE or moved to sharepoint or google classroom. Do you have parent logins? e.g. parents access assessment and attendance information. As i cannot see a way to integrate that with google or microsoft classroom. That's the main thing that holds us back moving away from moodle as we have it linked with sims for timetables etc.

I've managed to download and install this now but just keep getting an error "Cannot map drive, contact your network manager". Only tried on admin accounts first. Has anyone got it working? Cheers

Hi I am trying to set up Azure active directory connect but when I run the final part I get the following error. Some research said it might be to do with connection but I cannot see where as we do not use a proxy and my lightspeed has set this server to allow all. Any ideas? Thanks

When i try log in I just get the message "Your IT administrator has not yet enabled Microsoft Classroom for you. Please try signing-in again later. " Does anyone know how you enable it? Thanks

I'm still waiting for impero to get back to me. Was told I had been escalated nearly 2 weeks ago Not heard anything else. Which folders should I copy to keep all my settings. Is it just the data folder in the Impero Server and client folder?

Can you remote log in a classroom of computers? e.g. select 10 computers and log them all in at the same time. This feature hasn't ever worked for us but we were assured it would be fixed in version 5.3

Sadly we bought into this software recently can I can say that we haven't had a single week without issues so far! Incredibly frustrating considering the price!

Hi I am currently looking at our backup procedure. I have to replace it but been given hardly any budget so looking at using backup assist and two QNAP 32TB Nas servers at different ends of the school. First question, are there any legal requirements about storage of data and length of time it needs to be kept that I need to look out for? E.g. with tapes it was easy to archive data as we just did an end of year backup and keep a set of the tapes. We wouldn't be able to do this with the above solution. Second question, is there an easy way to get around 4TB of backups uploaded to google drive or onedrive to take advantage of the free storage on there as a last ditch offsite backup? Have looked at proper cloud backups with azure etc but all outside of our budget. Would be looking to automate the backup once a week or incrementals each night if possible. Have tried the cloud drive sync app for qnap but it freezes when I go back onto it saying 'loading, please wait...' and never loads. It could be something off the original server if that makes things easier or from the QNAP. Cheers

Have you ever had the issue where when you open cloud drive sync it just gets stuck on Loading, please wait...

@rogerdnixon Is there a way to configure insync to sync different folders? e.g. sync the whole of the H drive and D Drive? Cheers

Long term aim is to move everyone vanilla but at the moment have a lot on so getting everyone on the same network is a starting point.

Just got it running now to see how long it takes etc but looks ideal for our qnap. Do you know does it do the equivalent of differentials backups each time you schedule it or does it backup everything every night? Cheers

I have to say, as the person that started this thread. It was frustrating when the issues were happening. But I feel schoolsbroadband could have done very little more to try and mitigate it. They have been very honest with us, they have been working on various solutions, they came out to see us onsite and explain the issues and what has been put in place. Companies that will go to that extent and go out to schools willingly where they know they will face a lot of anger takes a lot. We all have times in work where things go wrong and it is how you deal with it that matters. Yes it was a massive issue but I think they have dealt with it well and at the end of the day they don't want to be in this position as much as we don't. Plus things seem to be back to normal for us. We bought into this service so we don't have to deal with issues like this and I can only imagine it would have gone on much longer and been more expensive if I had, had to deal with this issue with onsite equipment for my own school. At times like this I am grateful I can say "it's not me and they are working on it".

So just create a standard account in GAFE and have the software point at their drive? easy as? Ah that's the next dream. Moving everyone onto onedrive. Might pick your brains about how you have done it at some point if you don't mind? Cheers

Thanks. How much do you have backing up to there? Does it just cover documents or can you set systemstates etc
