1. I am just about to start getting quotes for our EES renewal and looking at ours we buy the Windows OS and Office licences seperately but I remember reading on here a lot of people buy a 'pack' with both licences in. Basically this is what we buy into: Office for desktops - 2FJ-00005 MicrosoftOfficeProPlusEducation AllLng License/SoftwareAssurancePack Academic OLV 1License LevelE Enterprise 1Year OS for each Server - P73-05566 MicrosoftWindowsServerStandard AllLng License/SoftwareAssurancePack Academic OLV 1License LevelE AdditionalProduct 2Proc 1Year Server CALs - R18-03499 MicrosoftWindowsServerCAL AllLng License/SoftwareAssurancePack Academic OLV 1License LevelE Enterprise UsrCAL 1Year OS for desktops - KW5-00359 MicrosoftWINEDUE3 AllLng Upgrade/SoftwareAssurancePack Academic OLV 1License LevelE Enterprise 1Year ProPlus Student - S2Y-00002 MicrosoftO365ProPlusOpenforStudents ShrdSvr AllLng MonthlySubscriptions-VolumeLicense Academic OLV 1License NoLevel Student withFaculty 1Month ProPlus staff - S3Y-00004 MicrosoftO365ProPlusOpenforFaculty ShrdSvr AllLng MonthlySubscriptions-VL Academic OLV 1LicenseLevelE AdditionalProduct AddOn toOPP 1Month Does anyone know if this is the most cost effective way or should I be looking into the 'packs' of licences? Bit lost with MS licensing. Thanks
2. We have 3 aging macbook pros and iMac and was wondering if anyone has used a company to trade in apple products to get money off a new macbook? I see if it was a personal device i could trade the macbook in for £194 but not sure how that would work through a school.
3. I have managed to get it installed on a test windows 7 machine but if I log in with a teacher account or student account it allows me to run the software and sign in, click allow to the permissions and then stops and doesn't sign me in. Anyone know what this could be? Can't see anything in filtering but wondered if it could be because it is mapping a drive possibly? Anyone had similar issues?
4. Is it possible to have access to a windows based shared drive on Chromebooks? Something that is configured centrally or has only a tiny amount of setup as they would be shared devices. Thanks
5. I take it there's no way to edit where this is saved? Do you know which file stores it?
6. I don't use SAML but willing to give it a try if you can give me some pointers as to how you think it should be setup?
7. From my testing works fine on a shared machine. If you log back into the shared machine it remembers your login details and maps the drive automatically. But as soon as you log into a different computer it doesn't remember the login details and you would have to re-enter them everytime you changed machines, which I can see as a stumbling block for us at the moment. Anyone have a way around this?
8. From digging a little deeper looks like it requires windows update kb3033929 installed. But windows update is running chronically slowly [emoji30] Now windows update says it's already installed [emoji30]
9. Has anyone installed this on a 32bit machine? or is it 64bit only? Thanks
10. I keep getting an error 1603 message when I try to install it windows 7 32bit. Worked fine on windows 10. Anyone else had this?
11. Can parents and students access the info too with that? Obviously not the registers and marksheets. Cheers
12. We are looking at options for parental reporting and allowing staff to access some sections of sims online and therefore from home. We have seen Overnet Data's option which looks promising. I wondered what else other people used or would recommend? It needs to do the following: Allow staff to take registers Allow staff to enter data into marksheets from sims Behaviour Attainment Attendance House Points Timetable Assessments from sims Exam dates
13. Is there anymore news on how this was started? Email, website, attachment etc?
14. When I check our server this option is ticked but greyed out so I can't untick it. Anyone know why that would be and how to get round it? We're a CC4 network if that makes any difference.
15. "The Tories cut security support for the NHS’s outdated computer system a year ago, despite warnings it would leave hospitals open to hackers , it was claimed. The Government Digital Service, set up by David Cameron , decided not to extend a £5.5million one-year support deal with Microsoft for Windows XP." http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tories-cut-security-support-outdated-10413160 🤦♂️ when will they learn? We don't point out risks and request money to update things for no reason?!!
16. We have two and I have it installed on both. I have reinstalled the latest version now as we were slightly behind. In the logs this line looks to be showing the error: 2017-05-11T15:22:48.501+01:00 dbcc E:Network password_sync_service!WinHttp::ExecuteHttpRequestIStreamResponse @ 794 (student/[email protected])> HttpRequest output. PUT https://www.googleapis.com/admin/directory/v1/users/[email protected]?quotaUser=26e7a06fa8468f584c871caa7ad74356 HTTP/1.1 HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Anyone any ideas what this could be? It successfully finds the user and the mail attribute
17. I've tried changing it directly in AD but no luck there either
18. We have GAPS up and running and all says fine but when I change a users password it is not updating on their google account. How long does this change take to be reflected in your domains? Would changing the password in RMMC cause an issue or have people got GAPS working fine on a RM network? Cheers
19. Anyone managed to test this on a shared domain computer yet to see if it could work as an option across a network for lots of users?
20. I have been asked to look into android tablets for our school. One member of staff has recommended Kindle Fire tablets but as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) these cannot be managed centrally easily? Anyone using cheap android tablets that can be managed by chrome management? Are they reliable? Would you recommend a specific model? Many thanks
21. I think it's a separate cost, or that's how I interpreted it. Found this on their blog post "Free trial of Microsoft Intune for Education"
22. still waiting
23. It's called School Asset Manager https://schoolassetmanager.co.uk/
24. We use school asset manager for our asset register. As part of this it has a facility for staff to sign out using a mouse or touch screen device and emails them a receipt and us a receipt. Same happens when it's returned. Think it was designed for 1:1 device schools in the USA but works well for us. No more disputes of "I bought it back", "where's your receipt then?"
25. No we have disk to disk at two ends of the school. This is just if there was a complete burn down of the site for example. It might be that we back everything up but some suppliers have implied this is not what most schools do.
