Hi I am trying to use the second version of the file stream exe from here but staff receive an error saying: The application installed fine and they are windows 7 sp1 32bit machines. It works fine on my Windows 10 64bit machine. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi is there an ETA on this. Would be very interested to hear where you are up to? Thanks

We have started using GSuite in a big way and have a number of Chromebook Trolleys which are a mix of Acer R11's and Acer N16's for students and Acer R13's for staff. Are there any newer models that people would recommend to look at purchasing in the next few months. They can't be the most expensive models but we want them to be reliable. 11" screens should be fine for what we need. Thanks

Has anyone ordered a replacement macbook battery before? Or know of a reputable supplier? All the ones on Amazon and ebay seem to be a little hit and miss and I'm wary of ordering them. Preferably an official battery. It is a A1322 10.95v, 63.5Wh battery needed. Thanks

We are soon going to be migrating over to Netsweeper with schools broadband. I was wondering if there are any other schools that have already made the switch and use a Ruckus controller. With the new setup it appears we need to get our BYOD users to install a certificate before they can use the wireless. I am intrigued to find out how people have got this set up? Is it working well? To help me get ours set back up after the migration. We were using the RADIUS server on Lightspeed to authenticate but I don't believe we can do this anymore? Thanks

We are getting this set up now. Can anyone who is using it tell me (as we have already got subject choices from students) can sims options allow us to input the choices for the students then help us to build the options blocks, so the most students get their first choices? Otherwise does anyone have any snazzy ways of doing this as I have been tasked to help and no one seems to know how it was done before. Cheers

Myself and a couple of staff went to a GDPR training day provided by a consultancy company via our LEA. In it they stated that for staff training you can run it in house. He suggested using material from the ICO website to create our own staff training and deliver it ourselves. Has anyone else been told this too? From what I have found on the ICO website it states I have been asked if I would help deliver it, which I don't mind to be honest as it gives a good platform to enforce the ICT changes too. But I wanted to double check this was correct. Anyone have any slide shows or thigns they have used for staff training? Cheers

This is why we are looking into it. Instead of banning staff from using personal devices say they can only use them to use our RDS keeping things on our network and not on their computer. Is setting up and working our licencing for RDS easy? Never looked into it before. Any useful guides / videos? Thanks

Is anyone using RM CC4 Access for remote access for their staff? Looking at a cost effective way of remote access for staff. Cheers

Data Processing Agreement - What Is Required?
tj2419 replied to DavR's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I had a query today that I wondered if anyone could advise what they would do. Girls are due to get their HPV vaccination and the NHS employee doing the admin for it contacted us to ask for girls names, dob and addresses. Do we just send them to them via email or would you want a data processing agreement in place or at least confirmation for why they require dob and addresses? I'm guessing to update their medical records but wasn't sure what "recommended" advice would be. Spent so long looking at systems we have in place where it's easier to get a contract or data processing agreement in place. I know this isn't strictly IT related but interested to see what other people would advise. Our privacy policy does state we may share data with relevant healthcare providers. Thanks -
For those of us without a DPO yet...

How is everyone getting on? We have a working group of Myself (NM), business manager, data manager, clerk to governors, HR. Not much is getting done with ours so I was wondering how everyone is delegating the different jobs? I have taken lead on our working party organising the data mapping and having sit down meetings with each of the other working party members on a one to one basis to get it complete. I have organised another meeting but feel like we need to take action on things now e.g. make definitive decisions on retention periods, start updating the privacy policies etc. Has anyone got either examples of how the work / jobs are being delegated out and any examples of your retention periods for the different types of data e.g. financial, student records, photos of students, student work areas, assessment files like excel tracking sheets. We look like we are going to buy into an SLA with the LEA but I feel by the time that is in place we need to have a lot of the ground work done. Thanks -
Right to delete from backups
tj2419 replied to enjay's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I attended a GDPR training event recently and re-asked the question regarding deleting files from backups and again was told that yes this would be expected. When I asked what do we do if our backup provider cannot do this he said: "then you have a problem". He queried why we needed to keep backups going back 1-2 months, saying surely you just need to be able to restore from the most recent backup so just keep a weeks worth of backups. Has anyone had any further luck clarifying what will be expected of us? How long do you/will you be keeping your backups for? I've contacted our backup software provider and they said -
Maybe worth thinking about what types of attachments may be sent on to the helpdesk in terms of GDPR. Where are the cloud ones hosted etc? This is what I am trying to get my head around with Freshdesk.

Up against the same thing and not found a way around it yet. Really annoying and makes android apps almost unusable for us.

Does anyone know if we can class HAP as GDPR compliant? All the data resides on our own servers but are the levels of encryption / security enough to satisfy the GDPR? Also with it no longer being updated / actively worked on I'm guessing it will at some point be out of date / security risks may occur. Wanted to check before I tell staff to use it instead of USBs.
