  1. Hi Just asking on the off chance that any of you are aware if your school sports kits are sponsored by a company? Our marketing team have been asked to look into it but were talking to me asking if i knew of any schools who did it. So thought I would ask the EduGeek community as you usually come through for me Their questions were: - What did the school charge? (Just enough to cover the cost of the kits or a little extra?) - Was there a fixed time length that the kits would be used for? - How many kits do you have with it on? - Do your kits just have one sponsor? - Did you do every school team or just certain ones? If anyone could ask at their schools I would be very grateful Thanks
  2. Does anyone have any staff salary sacrifice schemes running where they can buy ICT equipment via their wage for cheaper than would cost in a shop? If so: Does it save your school much money in contributions to National Insurance tax etc? Do they really handle everything? Or did it increase work for your staff e.g. finance/admin team? Would you recommend the schemes? Any particular company? Thanks
  3. Ah, you've got my attention again Any update on a release date for Google Drive Mapping, will it support just personal drives or a facility similar to the sharepoint shared drives using team drives? Thanks
  4. Would also be interested in this. I think there is a minimum contract price of £1500. We were looking at the system last year before the minimum price was introduced but now cannot afford it
  5. Damn it. Trying to work out best route forwards to starting using more cloud services between o365 and gsuite as we are currently using both to some degree. Have looked at unify, salamander, iamcloud but can't find one solution that does everything I want it too [emoji30] gets too pricey looking at getting a few of them. Cheers anyway
  6. I am looking at RM unify and notice that it can now sync MIS groups into G Suite, which is a big selling point for me. Can it sync student's and teacher timetables to their Google Calendar? I have been looking at Salamander software as my alternative but sticking with an RM system for our RM network maybe best in the long run. I would want it so the following happens automatically: User created in SIMS > Created in AD > Creates G Suite Account > Adds them to their Google classroom classes automatically > Updates distribution lists for staff and students and syncs their timetable with their G Suite Calendar. Does anyone using RM Unify know if it would do all of the above? Also what does the parent part of RM Unify do? On a side note, anyone know if RM are going to release a drive mapper product for Google Drive? Cheers
  7. bump. Anyone know of any other alternatives?
  8. We have GCDS set up syncing our local AD accounts up to G Suite. We sometimes have the need to just create an account via the G Suite admin console via the browser. But each time GCDS syncs it disables these accounts as they aren't in our AD. Is there a way to stop this? Thanks
  9. Can I revisit and bump this to hear from any schools that have working solutions what you have done / used? Or an update on the guys that have commented? I would love to just offer our new year 7's a cloud hosted documents folder using google drive but map it in someway to them. Cheers
  10. I was just about to post the same thread. We have 4 trolleys and the laptops are constantly having keys removed, screens broken, chargers go missing and have even had doors removed from the trolleys!! We have a log book and ask staff to sign the laptops out to students but this never happens I am watching closely for any advice on minimising damage!
  11. I am in the process of writing a new ICT Strategy for the school. This is something I have only ever done with our Deputy Head but I have been tasked to do it independently this time. Are any of you able to share with me your ICT Strategy? Or at least your approach to writing / updating it? It will basically be our plan for how the network and ICT resources will develop over the next 3-5 years. Including hardware, VLE, taking advantage of 'the cloud' etc. I already have a plan for hardware like for like replacement that will form part of this. Any examples will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. Hi Where do people buy replacement RJ45 wall socket/modules from? We have a few that have broken from wear and tear but seen prices varying massively for the same thing. Cheers
  13. I am looking at automating a number of account creation services and came across Salamander Software. It looks like it does almost everything we want apart from map the users google drive as a drive letter. Salamander Software Sync users from SIMS to AD Create email account automatically on O365 or G-Suite Sync timetable from SIMS Sync mailing lists from SIMS to O365 or G-Suite Create classrooms and enrol teachers and students Auto-Licensing Does anyone know of a company that does all of the above and map the users google drive as a drive letter or know of a company that does the google drive mapping? I have looked at iamcloud but they do not seem to do the timetable syncing, classroom syncing or mail list syncing. Cheers
  14. It's not bad 100mb on a 1gb bearer and we rarely go over 45% usage.
  15. On site is an option and it's what we currently have. Their hosted was the prices you indicated which worked out about £3600pa which is cheaper than what we pay for our annual on site sims licence and it would mean staff could access it anywhere and it comes with the teacher app for ios and android devices so was a tempting offer. We also wouldn't need to renew the physical server it sits on. Just wouldn't feel fight about making the jump without hearing from people actually using it. They assured us they use azure servers which expand automatically for extra demand and on busy days like results and census they increase the resources in advance.
  16. Can I ask what was wrong with it? What is making you move back to onsite? Thanks - - - Updated - - - Just a bump on this for anyone else using it to share their experience? We have received rough pricing and it seems cheaper than what we pay currently for our SIMS licence via our LEA. Is it working well for anyone? Anyone got experience of it? For SIMS and FMS?
  17. I know salamander can auto create AD accounts from sims but will these accounts show in the RMMC? Is anyone using salamander's AD software with an RM network? Thanks
  18. Have any of you had an external company come in and do a promotional video to "show off your school"? Interviews with staff and kids etc Been asked to look into them but just wondered if anyone could give me ideas on costs? Thanks

  20. We've just had another outage now. Due to lightspeed by the looks of it.
  21. I'd like to join. Questions Do they have any plans to release anything like SIS (School Information Sync) for Office 365?
  22. We number all ours e.g. R01 for red trolley 01. We also, as a failsafe, write on the bottom in a silver pen the name so we can still identify if the students peel the labels off.
  23. The problem I am finding is that the downtime recently it for a few minutes or less than an hour. Which is still half or a whole lesson disrupted but not long enough to trigger the SLA compensation. Like most said it's not even the compensation that is important it is the disruption! We need a service that is reliable as it is holding us back roling out G-Suite.
  24. Can you get this on education or is it business customers only?
  25. Can anyone recommend any good truancy calling software? So far have found SIMS - Truancy Call, Keep Kids Safe and Truancy Call by the contact group Just after any recommendations. Cheers
