We have one calendar setup for the school calendar staff, they do not have access to the account it is setup on, they just receive an invite to add to their list of calendars and are given the relevent permissions in the account on whether they can just view or edit. No other type of calendar is supported and they should use their own account calendar in GAFE and subsequently add the School calendar on invite. Keeps things simple.

Comes with an external PSU to supply the PC, they do get warm and they never move unless I move them, the advisory is not to use them which puts our small ITSuite out of use. I have thrown it back to Stone because it now means we either run the risk (which we won't) or buy replacments.

Hi All, Received an email from Stone Support of an advisory with their mini ITX PC's. We have 15 of these in a small ITsuit working very well still with SSD's in them. Not wishing to hold onto a potential problem especially as I only visit 1 day a week, I am looking at alternatives and was thinking of these: Gigabyte GB-BXBT-2807-250SSD/4GB RAM No OS Barebone PC and use the existing SSDs that we have in the Stone PC's. Anyone using these type of mini pc in their schools? Yes we get them at the school the staff all know the drill, I just have to keep reminding them by sending out an email so that new members of staff get the message as well and that is to pass the call onto me if I am in.

My Partner just messaged me and said that a nice mannered support rep had called and said they were going to cut our internet connection off because of illegal activities on our IP address. She then said she had given him all our details to keep us secure, passwords, bank account, hours of work etc. Its re-assuring and makes you feel safe doesn't it when your partner has your back.

As if this doesn't happen a lot anyway on first login: "The process would normally take 15 to 30 minutes but due to the numbers signing in at the same time it jammed the network. The issue was compounded when staff became "frustrated and gave up" which left the log-in process hanging."

Ours is due for renewal in January,we are already looking, but I have to admit their broadband has been reliable, can't say its the best price as we haven't compared yet but any sales rep that gets shirty will be given short shrift followed by a good whinge on twitter and facebook detailing full details of the call,time,date along with the fake name the the customer adviser has given that usually works with some better deals.

Photoshop maybe the benchmark that most photo editing apps like to aim for but i doubt very much school users will be using most of the features in many of the photo editing apps available on the market whether free or paid for. I have had students coming in requesting Photoshop for their lessons i just smile and say use paint.net or Gimp because that's what we can afford and I will happily install it for them.

Hi All, I have managed to create a new 2019 Virtual DC on our host which is also running Server 2019 and Hyper V. I left SYSVOL as the default but have read and seen that I should create a separate VHDX for SYSVOL Current Virtual Server Setup is: Virtual DC called DC001 4Cores 8GB RAM System Partition 200GB SYSVOL C:\windows\sysvol etc - Should change this? Have I allocated too much space for the server setup? I have not setup any accounts or allocated any file storage yet in the new VDC and was wondering should I copy all data so that files and shares are in the virtual environment or put them storage space on the host? The old server will be removed once I am happy that the new host and VDC are running ok and will be kept once fitted with new SSDs and used as a backup. Thanks

I have setup our new Server 2019 installed Hyper V and a virtual server 2019 within HyperV Our old Domain still running is called: WXYZ.school.council.sch.uk Current DC Server 2008 is called SERVER1 What should i call my new virtual server? should I just call it SERVER2 and link it to the current domain WXYZ.school.council.sch.uk Thanks

As its holiday pics time of year here some of my efforts taken on my phone. Jersey and a stopover in Liverpool this year, who knows where next? Been using hosted and local sims at my schools no issues just initial teething problems, looking to run the full web version side by side our existing hosted and local installations in October then let the schools decide if they are happy to jump on the full sims web bandwagon.

Going to speak to the head tomorrow and the teachers, haven't used the site myself or seen it in action, but if its similar to Google Classroom then that would be my preferred choice as its free. Unless they want to pay and opt for the UK option. Thanks
