  1. Landlords been OK, he has waived our last months rent for the trouble which he didnt have to do.
  2. Not sure about legal cover. My question is, shall I tell the insurance man when he comes around what the builders told me, or shall I just say "I dont know why it happened, all I know is that its not my fault". I just want my stuff replaced and then move.
  3. Hey guys. So it was raining pretty hard on Sunday I came home from work to be confronted with this. http://i.imgur.com/9TTirl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mdy2Yl.jpg TV is ruined, PS3 and a few other bits. The house is uninhabitable as there is no power. I was going to move in a few weeks, so I guess this just speeds the process up. The builders have come in and brought the rest of the ceiling down. So their investigation has found... Next door neighbours liked opening their skylight to smoke and drink and apparantly to take off clothes, when they were done, they would throw cigerette butts, beer cans and clothing into our gutter. With the heavy rain on Sunday it caused a massive build up which is what caused the ceiling to cave in. Anyway, I have our contents insurance man coming out on Tuesday. Shall I tell him exactly what happened and we'll be covered? (I dont want to be fobbed off by being told its next door neighbours responsibility. I also hear they like to try and tell people that it was "Wear and tear" of course I had no idea this would happen and was caused by the actions of someone else. Any advice in dealing with them when they inspect stuff? I havent plugged anything in yet and dont intend to. Rob.
  4. Hey Lewis, It's Rob Quick, we both had an interview at Ridings high, I guess you didnt get the position either! Theres been nothing advertised in Bristol for months. I had to go elseware and I have been accepted for a position at ST Josephs catholic college in Swindon. Good luck mate.
  5. MAJOR UPDATE I GOT THE JOB! Total surprised, I AM FLOORED. Swindon here I come!
  6. AV tech eh? Which school was that? I cant remember seeing that advertised (Blind you see)
  7. *Update* Well I just got back from the interview at St Joseph's. Assessment task went reasonably well, with a couple of questions I couldnt answer. I think I screwed the interview up. I dont think I gave a good impression, said alot of wrong things and got pretty nervous. I dont think I got the job. Its a real shame because the building is fantastic, all one block it seems, no temporary buildings at all! (Well consider my current school is 1/4 derelict.) The students are really well behaved, very quiet. I would love to work there. Either way, I just got back home and have an E-mail from Churchfields school wanting an interview a week Friday, so not all bad! Rob.
  8. My ex Lodger was brought up in Stroud and hes told me about the "hippy" way of life. Not sure if I could stand trustafarians either...
  9. It was for Marling School. Seems quite nice. Only problem is I cant drive and is a bit far out of a few places. In my recent past I have applied for 5 jobs in Birmingham, 3 in Swindon, 1 in Stroud and 1 in Swansea. All waiting to hear back from.
  10. Ah my apologies! Well I have an interview for one of the jobs in Swindon! My Uncle lives there which is good! Sippo. I will PM you regarding the flat.
  11. Well I have a Fiance and cats, I have no other responsibilities, I would be looking for a rental flat/house.
  12. Righto, i'll get my app in asap, though I would be relocating.
  13. Excellent, expect my application soon! Whats the starting date?
  14. Any of you work at or know much about St joseph's or Churchfields? (Though I doubt i'll get even an interview on that one!)
  15. My school are currently going the opposite way. We have been a staunch RM all-in-one buyer for years, most of our desktops are the older non wide screen RMones. They are very secure I admit. The hard glass screens are nearly indestructable. However its still very possible for students to tug USB cables out of the back, though if you wrap them up inside along with the power cable it makes it much harder to tug out. (Though with a very determined student they could cause more problems then prevent) Customer service is reasonable and next day warranty service is pretty awesome with freindly engineers around here. However, we have been moving to Dell recently for cost reasons. It cost us about 800 to buy in an all in one, whereas a standard desktop unit was about £400 and thats for the same spec. We currently have 2 dell suites, which are reasonably managable when it comes to mouse/keyboard replacement. We put the dells in rooms that specifically dont get hammered or are under constant watch. PS: Replacing and installing VGA cables and Optical drives are a BIG pain, expect an opticial drive installation to take at LEAST half an hour.
  16. I cant move anywhere until I have job there! Thats the point, i'll be moving specifically for a job. I cant just up and move to Swindon just because there are two jobs going in Swindon! I am sure I can find a place with 4 weeks notice.
  17. Hey guys and gals. Well after these two threads and experiences... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/74325-ict-technician-advice.html http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/74886-assessment-task-new-technician.html ...I am looking farther afield. I now have less then 2 months to go until my contract is up, still no real chance of it getting extended. So myself and the Mrs have decided to leave Bristol as there are little in the way of School job oppurtunities here. I have applied to a few jobs in, Stroud, Swansea, 2X Swindon and Birmingham. We want to keep to the south if possible! I look at it as a career move even though I am only after a lowly Tech position. What are your experiences with moving away from your hometown? Was it worth it? How do interviewers look at prospective employees who are willing to relocate? Would it be favourable? (It shows commitment?) I am worried that if I did get a job but couldnt find a new place in 4 weeks I would be stuck! Cheers! Rob.
  18. Hmm i'll be going for this I think! Cheers for posting.

  21. Went to a party in Malmesbury once, was the worst party full of underage drunken kids.
  22. Righto! Got a 2.8ghz for £3! Now I need a small aftermarket cooler...
  23. Darn. In which case, the P4 3.0ghz Northwood runs at 400mhz FSB, whilst the 2.8ghz Northwood runs at 533mhz FSB. Which would give me the better performance overall?
  24. Thats the wrong PDF, thats for the P4 533A not the 533. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Barebone/Terminator-P4-533/Manual/e1125_terminator_p4_533.pdf Anyway, now I have to make a choice. A Northwood P4 3ghz or a Northwood P4 3.06, problem is, the 3.06 supports HT BUT it does run at 533mhz.
  25. Yup, its a Asus Terminator 533/ID3. I have updated to the latest BIOS though there are no release notes to let me know what sort of CPU support it has, I have downloaded all the latest drivers from the Asus site.
