    Been without water in Stroud for the last 4 days. Can't even flush a toilet, take a shower or even wash up a plate and fork.

    A quad core HP PC with a GT720 can run Solidworks for about that budget. Not super-fast or brand new, but available from plenty of suppliers.

    A bit of searching and I was able to generate a master password to unlock the drive; only worked if an admin bios password had previously been set though.

    There's year old laptops that do that also. Even let you set a HDD password.

    So. I'm using VMs in VirtualBox as immutable members in a virtual network that now spans the globe... Transparent proxy. Visual Studio 2017. Using CentOS, dnsmasq, iptables, nginx, arptables and... SOFTETHER Stay tuned for the exciting next chapter..

    I've had some success with thinstation - a Kiosk mode RDP shell direct to a terminal services server... Alas it's from... (sourceforge) and mostly in German.. but there's some VERY helpful documentation out there. Could give a new lease of life to some OLD laptops...
