Anyone else set to try out the new wow expansion when it arrives 25th September? I will be playing Horde on Ragnaros, either a Feral Druid or a Warrior (tanking most likely)

I think the standard thing with any M$ operating system is never adopt it early, most places I know with IT that have changed, didnt use windows 7 until well after the SP1 was released for it, that being said, 8 is another "vista/millenium" operating system in the making I feel from what I have seen, but only time will tell here.

The Thing is one of my fave films ever, had a hell of an atmosphere in it I thought Alien - This was terrifying when I watched that at about 10 years old Watership Down - Another horrifying film from childhood and I am glad someone else wonders why that ever got a U rating, I am not the only one When the Wind Blows - Another awfully bad and traumatic cartoon film that I remember from good old Channel 4 The Labyrinth - Another seriously scary film I recall from when I was about 12, David Bowie was scary in that film

I have had an issue with Kaspersky very similar to this too, the "Anti-Hacker" feature if enabled also acts as a firewall and stops the program registering with the AV Server, we found this out when we went initially from Symantec to them, after the grace period, certain machines wouldnt register the correct product key, this was usually because that feature was enabled on the AV software, our network, we have windows firewall disabled as default on the workstations and found that this feature if enabled (which it was by default by our initial LEA installation script) would also act as a firewall. Check by removing the feature on a machine and seeing if it will work. -Rich

Wine is the ever dependant alternative for windows based programs on Linux, I play WoW and Diablo 3 on my fedora machine fine using it, Direct X stuff has been spoken about a fair bit lately with windows 8 offing and how it's very bloated comparative to OpenGL and developers are again evaluating it over alternatives. Thats the retail costs of these cards, the manufacturing and supply side of it would probably not be comparable costs wise when supplying in bulk on an industrial scale I would think there That being said I cannot wait to see where they go with this project, I hope they port the HL2 stuff over soon, might make me swing back to Ubuntu then :-)

That's the trouble at the moment I think with the mess we are in as a country and it just is not going to get any better anytime soon, regardless of leadership with this current format of politics, if Labour come in, their just too similar nowadays because of this "big party" politics system we have, The lib dems will get obliterated in the next general election I think for selling their voters out and rightly so, they didnt need to make/join a coalition at all, a minority government would have been fine to proceed. I also just don't see the viable alternative with Ed Miliband and I dont think the labour party are destined to anything great with him there, I myself dont see him as a legitimate candidate either after being voted into leadership by the unions, shows his own party did not think him up to it and he lacks charisma and finesse I think comparatively to some of his peers. Sad as it is, I am going towards thinking that voting any of the mainstream parties nowadays, is maintaining the status quo really and not a lot else, where the bottom of the ladder gets squeezed a bit more each time, rather than the top in times of difficulty.

I only hope so here, Dave and the cronying gang need to go, only Ed Milliband is in no way a credible alternative as a PM imo

Shows how bad ea are at maintaining their online games to me, mmos are very cutthroat and you have to put no end of effort into them to succeed, typical ea really getting the product out and then thinking that the work stops there. Same as they have done with the majority of their online games, battlefield series being similar, star wars tor is pretty much dead in the water looking at a lot of this, most people I knew who left wow for it have already returned, especially with mists of pandaria in the offing and it was destined to be a filler game

This looks like a bit of a spam/trolling post to me, but might I suggest you try whatever game you are playings website and get the appropriate version for your windows operating system, the website for that game appears to be working from a quick search in google, so I suggest thats what you do.

Windows Live Movie Maker - free and does a job quite well I think whenever I have used it here, its gone and done whats needed without problems (installation is a bit of a pain though on a network)

This thread brought back a memory, when my mate came back from america on his hols about 4 years ago, he brought with him a load of these disgusting things too for a bit of a laugh on his part, he said that they smelt like sick when handing them out to us which none of us believed until we opened them up, they were not even nice chocolate to eat when you can get past the smell, peanut butter M+Ms were nice though which we cant get over here without going through a mail order company of some sorts. Looking at Wikipedia, its not even suprising their chocolate bars are disgusting :-

I installed Linux on my main PC and laptop in the house a while back, after an initial period of adjustment (same when I was using a mac for a while) it all went well I thought (I now have an issue with dual monitors thats frustrating me a little), but fair play to linux, it installs flawlessly alongside existing OS like win7 making trialling it far easier. It has quirks which take a bit of getting used to, simple things in windows can be a little drawn out, like when I had to setup a VPN, that took a good while of forum reading to get the jist of it, but its well worth it. I think Windows 8 should be renamed Vista 2 the way its going, it seems more destined to be that sort of OS in being unloved and uninspired from what I have seen so far for me.

Good sign showing decent integration is in the offing unlike a certain cupertino based computer company, all it needs to develop now is decent dual monitor support for gnome/x server and im sold, (had massive issues getting it right for about three different distros at home here, spent about 20 hours total on help/support forums) Richard

Sales of Goods Act applies in the UK no matter if its supplying to "trade" or "consumer", providing that you are purchasing the item through a business, at least as I remember being taught. The manufacturer deem the unit to be faulty (its a Lacie NAS), it wouldnt join the domain with us initially, (its a windows XP embedded based NAS), it then was unable to allow us access to the RUN command (you need to basically configure everything on the device through RDP on the unit), several rebuilds later with different issues each time and its basically not repaired once following their steps to any decent satisfaction, once it came back without the run command, once then you couldnt rename the device, again then no run command, now it appears that the disks in the unit are completely faulty, as it wont detect any volumes at all in the device. To make matters worse now the supplier is trying to wriggle out of returning the device, despite us raising these issues with them shortly after taking delivery of the device.
