I sync our core switch to the regional broadband time server. Servers are sync'd from the core switch, PCs for the servers. Everything else - switches, APs, CCTV cameras, telephone system etc., are all sync'd from the core switch.

Have you used http://remote.schoolname.co.uk/extranet ?

The band around the middle has some writing on it, what does it say? It also appears to be mounted on feet, can you see under it?

I think we had this recently, I think the serial prompt was fixed by adding some of the files adobe creates in the users profile to the default user profile.

I got burned by scan along time ago - mid 1990's when they were first starting out. Non deliveries / wrong parts sent. Ended up paying them a visit to get it sorted. Since then I have refused to use them for personal or business purchases. Which means they've lost out on the opportunity of hundreds of thousands of pounds of potential business. Surprised they are still going to be honest, I've seen many more better suppliers go to the wall.

6.3 onward padding file uploads with extra NULLs
steve replied to AngryTechnician's topic in Home Access Plus+
After testing of this yesterday, we too are experincing this issue -
It is an issue on XP and can't be fixed. Think there was a thread on here somewhere about it. I can confirm it does work on Win7/2008.

My initial thoughts are DHCP too. Have you tired the 64-bit PCs with static IPs? Do these machines have IPv6 installed? If so maybe try disabling that. If booting a 64-bit PC with the network unplugged then plugged back in after a successful boot - what happens? You could try using wireshark to monitor the network connection process.

There is a setting in folder redirection for downloads in GPO but I found that didn't work. So I have a registry setting via GPP: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default Download Directory = (My docs locations) REG_SZ

@kcymer You can just create another template for the size you want and apply it to those specific users folders, this over rides the folder on the parent folder.

Tried the suggestions without success. However I latched on to your suggestion the mouse isn't being controlled. So I had a look through the 118 programs installed on the image. Removed ABTutor - no difference As the PC was initially built as a Windows Virtual PC, it had Virtual PC Intergration Componenets installed. Removing these and a reboot later - Success!! Tried on another computer to confirm and yes thats whats causing the issue. So for anyone else having this problem in the future - go to control panel, uninstall a program and uninstall Virtual PC Intergration Componenets

[sims] "InTouch Services not compatible..." error message - RM network [Solved]
steve replied to Quatermass's topic in MIS Systems
We had this message for all users after the summer update - I'd installed the updates with admin rights instead of the pre-defined capita user setup at install. Fixed by capita changing the service user details. Might be something to check. -
I think what you're after is what we've just done - super mandatory profiles. These delete themselves after logoff so any changes a student makes are not shown at next login. The super mandatory profile can be kept on a share, then when each user logs in they take a copy to form there local profile. Any changes made to this shared profile then come into affect at the users next login. You could implement the shared local store via a shortcut on the start menu. One thing to note about super mandatory profiles is they can't be cached - so if the share isn't there, you can't login.

Spent all afternoon disabling various processes and removing all GPOs but to no avail, the issue still remains. So I've monitored the calibration process and the values written to the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ACTIVhidmini\Parameters\Calibration] are pretty similar for the laptop that works and the desktop that doesn't. Only a few of the larger numbers arn't the same. Does this indicate that the software is correctly identifying on the board where I'm clicking when calibrating?

@TRobinson thanks for the reply. I've checked another PC from same image and it doesn't have that folder, or that process running. I also tried attaching the board to this machine and it doesn't identify the drivers for the board. Both the USB drivers show in the image above show the 5.7.22 driver version. What I mean by manualy installing the driver is running the exe from the promethean site.

More info - Tested one of the boards via a Win7 laptop with same driver version and it works fine. Only difference I've seen between the laptop and new imaged desktop is that the desktop has also picked up a second USB driver. The Promethean USB Board Driver isn't present when connecting via the laptop, but on the desktop (screen shot below) does have this.

We have just deployed our new Windows 7 image to all our student computers and are having problems getting our Promethean boards to work. The ActivDriver has not been deployed as part of our image and is being installed manually on PCs with the board attached. On the 3 PCs / boards we have tried so far the board is recognised but none of them will successfully calibrate the board. On each board the cursor will stay in the bottom right of the screen (over the Show desktop button). We have tried various versions of the driver (5.7.22, 5.7, 5.5) and none of them work. I've also tried one of the machines in safe mode but the same error occurs. Anyone seen this before? I'll be trying a different computer on these boards in the morning.

No mention yet on servers / storage / printers / network equipment. IBM kept its server manufacturing for a while after selling its PC manufacturing to Lenovo. Hopefully HP will keep it's enterprise / backend manufacturing for a long while.

In the web interface on many HP colour lasers you can disable local printing. Failing that, fill the port with hot glue? Would it be possible to SNMP monitor the printer for usage via USB (I'm not an SNMP expert so not sure).
