  1. If you are virtualizing the 4x 2008 Server Standard 64bit OS licenses on one host you could buy 1 copy of enterprise instead as it allows 1 host + 4 virtual

  4. I should have said don't raise it until everything is working OK, then read up on exchange 2007 functional level support. Not sure if SP1 makes any changes to functional levels.
  5. My be write a script using something like Command Line SMTP Mailer for Windows
  6. Exchange should be ok as long as you don't raise your functional level. The SP1 thing won't be an issue - how would you do it any other way - upgrade all 3 at exactly the same time? :-)
  7. Have you tried the command prompt on the workstation? How are the drives mapped? Login script, group policy, local mapping, rm software? I'd try clearing the mappings "net use /del *" and re-mapping manually.

  10. When we recruit our assessment has several parts - multi choice questions (basic IT knowledge, basic maths / English, common sense), a help desk scenario (logging / dealing with a support call) and a practical test (find and resolve the issue). One thing I would suggest is that in any practical session, if you have someone present, don't be afraid to ask them questions if you need to. The number of candidates that fail to show that they can communicate is a bit worrying. Not many people know the answer to everything. Its like any exam where you have to show the working out, its as interesting knowing the process of how you came to the end result. In terms of revision, know your acronyms (AD, DC, DNS, DHCP, etc) Know basic troubleshooting techniques - is it plugged in, is the light on, can it see the network (ping / ipconfig)
  11. Used these last time: Laptop Screens | Laptop Screen | Replacement Laptop Screens They managed to source some screens when no one else could.
  12. YHGfL have been relocating their systems since last Friday. Been moving all the proxy / reverse proxy stuff from Pontefract to a new data center in Huddersfield. Most of our reverse proxy stuff is working again OK, just 1 system not running, which I will report Tuesday if its still not up.
  13. Any ideas when booking will open?
  14. Do you have to pay your RBC for connectivity this year? 2010-11 was £4000pa for 10mbps, 2011-14 is £11200 for 100mbps What RBC are you with? YHGfL How much are they asking? £11200pa What speed will you get for that? 100mbps to LA (contended from LA to grid - 1Gbps from LA to Grid) Are you considering leaving or staying with your RBC in the future because of its pricing? Will be reviewed at end of current 3 year contract (ends 2014) Have you already left your RBC and for what reasons? No
  15. I went once to watch England play. Its a nice enough place, the stadium is great if you like looking at those sort of things. A good video on it is: http://youtu.be/TTvKhr2A2sk
  16. Am I the only one sad enough to have tried scanning that to see if its a real product? (It isn't a valid barcode according to my phone)
  17. We've noticed speed issues when using PCs with Win 7 / Office 2010. If we revert back to an old laptop (lower spec) with XP and office 2003, the reports generate much faster.
  18. We're looking at the same thing, but I was going to go with: No more than 35 copies (allows a class set) No more than 30 pages per document No repeat within 180 seconds Also going to look into the papercut print scripting Tour - Advanced Scripting: Write print scripts to control routing, redirection and print workflow - PaperCut to route big jobs to a holding queue in repro department.

On the practical side - take a 4-way extension and 1 uk-usa converter - that way you can charge lots of things at a time. Make sure you change your phone to stop roaming before you land (no data use). The cost of mobile data is crazy. Some phone companies will put a cap on your use, worth checking. If you manage to get to the odd bar, they'll usually start you a tab. Every few drinks they should give you a drink free (comp). That's one reason tipping well is expected. Take ID with you if you're buying beer anywhere - even supermarkets. Supermarkets / shops will usually add a sales tax at the till on most goods. If you're renting a villa, pay for the pool heating.
  20. You can carry over more - I've got 135 point from previous study. I did a level 2 course last year T215, which was a lot of essay writing. Looking to do LINUX and maybe a couple of others this year.
  21. If the pics are all similar, try: Batch Picture Resize We've used it a few times for creating files for importing into SIMS.
  22. I've looked at this before: Mail Finder Don't have it but looks a nice system. Posting for info only - I don't know the company in anyway
  23. A nice little download from Microsoft: Download details: Windows Command Reference Its a help file (chm) with details on most Windows Vista / 7 / 2008(R2) command line programs and their syntax.
  24. Last time I did anything like this was on XP and I think I set the shell as iexplore instead of explorer. That way they couldn't run anything other than IE and if it was closed, it restarted itself.
  25. If you are running 2003R2 or above you could also do this with File Services Resource Management (FSRM). Install the role on the server with the share and create a file screen for the types of file you want to block.
