  1. A couple of other things - first you should really get best value, and not be selling it to the head or others in SMT so it's not seen as a perk for them. When I've done this any equipment was offered to all staff and sealed bids were submitted. The other is your WEEE obligations - is resale disposal or do you need to offer a recycling service as a reseller? What we chose to do was deal with a local WEEE recycling charity, they refurbished all the equipment we donated to them and in turn sold it back to the staff. I would ensure staff buying anything are fully aware of what it is they are getting - worn second hand, if a laptop does the battery work etc.
  2. PISQUARED is the closest I've got so far :-) Try using the LEN function in excel
  3. This is the SLA I had at my last place: ICT Service Level Agreement 2011v2.docx
  4. Interesting article from Stone here regarding the end of Windows 7 Starter, effectively adding £40+ to a netbook price.
  5. You could try the free Microsoft iSCSI software: Download: iSCSI Software Target - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
  6. As you have mentioned a phone system in another post, I'd second the Power over Ethernet requirement. This will allow the phones / wireless to be powered remotely - reducing the need for sockets around site. Good quality manages switches as other have said will do everything you want.
  7. I like to think of a phone system in 2 parts: Internal lines / phones (the stuff that goes to the desk) External lines / connectivity (ISDN / analogue / SIP) Internally you have 2 main options (you can do hybrid on some systems) - VOIP or Traditional Analogue/Digital VOIP means it can use your existing network - switches, network points, routers, PoE etc. A traditional system tends to use its own cabling (it can be structures CAT5/6) and distribution boxes. Hybrid systems can use some of each. Externally you have the incoming / outgoing calls. SIP sends calls via a gateway on the internet - pros - cheaper to run and expand, cons - all eggs in one basket - no internet no phone lines. ISDN - 2 lines per basic channel - pros - most systems can handle these, a well know solution - cons - not the cheapest solution. Analogue - the type of phone line you have at home typically - pros - basic, easy to understand, line works in a power cut - cons - not flexible You can on some systems mix and match the above, but the more you add the more it costs. My experience is that the desk phones tend to be the biggest cost of a system. While staff may say they don't want / envisage using computer integration (dialling, popups, etc.) we found it is now one of the most used and liked aspects. Getting the main system users involved in choosing the handsets will get you some good brownie points.
  8. Another webhelpdesk user here, it's good for most things with the exception of reporting - which is pretty poor (you can't report by client, you can't duplicate reports).
  9. On our Mitel system we use: CommsOffice Call Management Software Came as part of the system, so can't say how much it cost.
  10. If you unlink via the settings you can change the folder it links to.

I've watched games in vegas here: Las Vegas British Pub | Crown & Anchor and McMullan's Irish Pub Both reasonably close to the strip, so cheap enough taxi ride.

  14. I'm upgrading and I'd like to get users to use the MyFiles interface. I've changed the resources link but can't find where to change the link in the "I want to" box which is top right. Can this link be changed?
  15. After 11 years, I'm moving on to a new job at a local university (thanks witch for the CV help). So my position is now being advertised. It's being advertised at £31,754 - £34,549 which is the scale above what I get at present. The logic is they now want someone to also take on the vision setting too. 16. Maybe he didn't use the hard shoulder when he could have, maybe he pulled into the path of the lorry. Did he have the hazards on? Was the coach in good working order? Had the driver had the right amount of rest? Was the driver intoxicated? Should the coach passengers been off loaded - you should get out safely and wait on the verge. Many unanswered questions .....
  17. I'm reckoning a scam. Surely it would have been cheaper to email schools from Nigeria? Or given the spam that comes reportedly from Nigeria it would've been better to go through a reputable charity. Very bizarre
  18. Do you need time remove and dispose of current XP computers? Other things you may need - curriculum software (if not part of image), AV software - usually left off an image, MIS software? I'd be tempted to allow a bit more time for the GPO set up and the profile creation. Took me double that (a full week) to get it to my liking.
  19. We have this issue too. Only way we've found to use ie is with DOMAIN\username Firefox works with just username

  21. 2x APC UPS (SURT8000RMXLI) 4x APC PDUs (AP8858) - 2 from each UPS, spread across 3 cabs to allow short power cable runs. Similar setup as robknowles really - all dual PSU equipment split to have a connection to each UPS via a PDU Pretty much looking to all new server room kit having dual PSU now where ever possible. The PDUs can be connected to the network and monitored.
  22. Our school gives staff this at a discount (part time staff) or free (full time staff). Some say it's very good, but the only time I used it I was disappointed but can't grumble for free.
  23. I've done a few: T215 TM227 T155 T161 Now doing B628 which is more management, a bit of pain though.
  24. Puremessage gives some graphs on the number of emails scanned. Otherwise you could log all emails in exchange and do some analysis of them.
