Need Help Please to Restrict Users from Running Specific Applications
steve replied to richrad_mills's topic in Windows
Software restriction policies via a GPO are the best way to go to permanently block an exe Alternatively do you have anything like AB tutor Control? You could get a single license for that and block stuff on all your clients plus lots of other benefits too. -
If you want the conversation to end, tell them you're a grave digger. There's not a lot more they can ask you after that.

Their registered address from Home and Garden Furniture Land ) is: Registered Office 109-110 Viglen House Alperton Lane Wembley HA0 1HD However this is just a mailing address: Services Available - Viglen House Business Centre "Home and Garden Furnitureland" is owned and managed by the directors of EP Exhibitions Ltd, who also operate from the same address.

The last I heard, there isn't one. Our Network Manager spent days trying to remove v9 from a PC to reinstall it. (Couldn't just re-image due to licensed software package)

Hi, We have the 4400 series controller to manage all our APs. It does all you want in terms of AP management automatically. There is a firmware version that will allow you to convert your APs to lightweight versions - this pretty much does away with any local config and the controller does everything.

Thanks teraknor - don't suppose anyone has a back issue of the article they are willing to share? Check the website but a subscription is needed.

[pics] Someone Somewhere Has [Apparently] Tied Keys To Importance
steve replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
I would have thought the number of keys you have is more a reflection on the quality of buildings management. We no longer have a single master key as our premises team has decided certain rooms need to be on a different key Plus there must be the exception of the super 'important' - how many keys does the queen or prime minister need to carry? Surely they have someone to carry keys and open doors for them -
One thing to note is each teacher will be better off having an individual SIMS login linked to their personnel record. That way when they logon to SIMS they can access registers directly from the SIMS Homepage.

New ICT Coordinator wants to set up course for Silver Surfers
steve replied to speckytecky's topic in How do you do....it?
It really depends what they intend to teach them. We use a secure dual boot system for evening classes, this allows the courses to do pretty much what they need in a unsecured OS. For staff training we've used laptops - you could try and get hold of a few spare hard drives and just swap them out when needed. The biggest hurdle you'll find is uptake, these courses have been done to death and there's very little interest in them any more - at least that's what we've found. Most people who want to use a computer have already learned the basics. Most of them now want to learn a skill - e.g. photo editing. edit: You could use a virtual machine -
I've used the libproxy and it works ok for us - only a couple of machines though. I'll try get some wireshark logs emailed to you.
-
We don't use the libproxy much - we tend to use proxy. I'll run a few tests tomorrow.

You could use the @PRODUCTTYPE macro. Something like: if instr(@producttype,"Windows 7") goto WIN7 else goto WINXP endif

No world cup for England... I blame the BBC personally!
steve replied to GREED's topic in General Chat
I'm gutted. Having been to South Africa this year for the world cup, its just a great thing to have in your country. The euros in '96 were fantastic for the mood of the country. Personally I feel Russia is a huge mistake, it's too big of a country for fans to travel around. -
