Just tested and myself and I can see the graphic images you mention, I fear this may be a google problem though. Safe search is enabled as I can see it in the URL but those images are slipping through. Even picsearch.co.uk isn't filtering those out.

HP doesn't half get raved about on Edugeek, what is a comparable HP model to say a SG300/500 series Cisco?

You could well be right. We got them second hand and they've been in service for 6 years and its only in the last year that they've been failing so its not too bad but they are also 10/100 so that is reason alone to replace them.

Perhaps that would be resolved with a firmware update. I know the Sx300 series had an issue where they would require a reboot every 50 days prior to a firmware update. I've currently got x1 SG300-52 and I'm about to buy x1 SG500-52 and x1 SG500-28 to replace some failing Allied Telesis switches.

I suspect those people have no hands on experience of the products and are just bad mouthing based on the Linksys name which was ditched ages ago from Cisco's lineup.

I had a Generation 1 WD Raptor 74GB that lasted 7 years before I retired it for an SSD. It still works but the SSD is much faster!

We use a Cisco SG300-52 and its been faultless for about ~3 years now. It is on a small network though with about 30 concurrent users (excluding devices) on it.

With Windows XP coming to its End of Life are any of you replacing any of your XP machines before the April 8th deadline or are you waiting until after? I'm asking because I'm currently reimaging the Promethean board PC's that came with Win7 but are currently running XP, I am reimaging them with Win7. I've got some more in the Library that are still on XP but not sure If I'll be able to replace them before the April deadline.

Thats what I was using at home but its not as fast as a cheapo d-link over PPPoE, now its just a glorified WAP.

Normally I'd get a Draytek as thats what we currently use and its faultless but I was just wondering if there were any other other options out there. The 2920 doesnt support VDSL so you you use the Openreach modem as well? Ideally I'd like to avoid that as I've got one at home and it runs pretty hot and thats with just 4 users. What higher end product would you look at? pFsense while seeming like a good idea would still require new hardware as I don't want to stick it on an old PC as that just looks ulgy in the server cabinet.

We're no where near big enough to warrant a leased line hence the FTTC. How has the customer service been? It'll be serving 30 concurrent and possilby more when we decide to implement BYOD. For now however I just want an idea of what routers people use for an FTTC solution.

We are hopefully soon moving to an FTTC solution, I think with Zen although I've not fully decided yet. What routers/modems are people using on their school connection. Has anyone got FTTC with Zen for either home or work?

Arh, no worries. It seems that most of the articles at the moment are focusing on the user details such as passwords that were taken but they seem to forget that the source code for some of their programs was taken and that is more serious in my mind.

In light of the recent Adobe breach you should be asking yourself do you really want Photoshop. Its a shame that something that is probably considered "industry standard" comes from such a shoddy company.

I thought that the information in bad sectors was moved out by the OS to good areas of the HDD. Any information in a bad sector is likely to be corrupt beond usable recovery anyway, hence why its a bad sector.

I'd like to see the NSA recover that data. Regarding DBAN, I use it here but due to it not being certified or whatever is it an acceptable method of wiping a hard drive as far as the DPA is concerned? I use the DoD short method for quickness to secure ratio.

We've got a promethean board that appears to be vibrating by about half a pixel which belive it or not is noticeable. I've tried various refresh rates but they are all effected. Tried a different cable too. I believe the projector is at fault. This makes reading text very nauseous.
