  1. I've been quoted £10,000 for gigabit wireless but I'm not really a fan of wireless. Been quoted £7000 for gigabit laser but I'm sceptical about bad weather performance. Saying that the wireless will certainly be cheaper than directional drilling, but I'd be interested in the costs never the less. I think I'll give one or two of these companies a call and see what they say. Cheers.
  2. Yeah I assumed, I'd have to get permission from the local government or some such body. There is a telegraph pole that goes from each building and it would be perfect but I don't think it would fly with BT. I didn't think about underground tunneling. Do you know of any such companies that do such a service? I'm even struggling for google search terms. Cheers.
  3. Does anyone know if Fiber optic cable can be placed building to building at roof height. We have two buildings ~100 meters apart and I would like to link them via fiber. There is side road between the two buildings. Digging up the road would be too costly I assume. So the other option is roof to roof. Probably a long shot I know, but I'd just like to know if its possible and if it is, look into prices. Cheers.
  4. Thanks for replying, it has now changed back to saying Professional Edition. It was under "About" in the main ActivInspire program.
  5. Sounds very much like a problem we had with a 300 board, turned out the motherboard in the Promethean needed replacing.
  6. Sorry to hijack the thread but its kinda related. I uninstalled ActivInspire (professional) and reinstalled it but its now saying that it is the personal edition and I cant find anywhere to use my professional edition license key. How do I upgrade from the personal to the professional license
  7. Anyone? I'll even accept answers in the form of a song or riddle.
  8. Thanks for replying. Thats good news, I'm sure it will be a very useful feature. Being able to set the save interval would be handy like in MS Word.
  9. What a muppet lol, can some kind soul move this to the Promethean forum. EDIT: Thankyou!
  10. Hello! We have some promethean activeboard 300's but their resolution seems to be off. When we draw circle on the board it is eliptical. What resolution does the PC and projector need to be? I.e. the projector has setting such as Fill, Letterbox, 16:9 and 4:3
  11. I guess thats a no then. Its OK to reply saying so.
  12. Is there an option anywhere to autosave slides/pages? A teachers PC crashed and he lost the work he was doing on the board. It would be great if it would autosave at a time that I can set.
  13. Thank you for your replies. This is the kinda info I need.
  14. We are getting some Promethean 387+378 pro can someone enlighten me as to how these "smart boards" work How do they interface with the computer? / projector? Does it work via Capacitance? As you can probably guess I've never used these boards before but I'll have to be administering them. Cheers.
  15. Why dont you want them to right click on the desktop? Are you trying to prohibit access to display properties?
  16. I can find out how it works later, I just want to get it working first. I've already read that but it doesn't actually tell you how to set it up, just how it all works. Cheers.
  17. Hi all, I'm Gaz and I work for a private teaching company as their IT guy. One of the worlds largest aerospace/defence contractors being our main client. I've been working on computers since I left school, but only in the last 5 years got into the education industry and really started playing with networks. I found edugeek after researching content filters I came across Smoothwall and I'm now a customer of theirs thanks to the support on this forum. I'm sure this forum will be a great resource for help with working in the education industry.
  18. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've got 2 networks in different buildings. The buildings aren't connected by any means other than the internet. I need to sync the AD/users passwords on both servers, so if a user on network A changes their password it'll get changed on network B and vice versa. One network is running Server 2003 R2 Enterprise the other Server 2008 R2 Standard After a bit of googling I need to setup sites and services? But I've no idea what I need to do. I've got a VPN connection between the two so I'm hoping to use that to securely sync it. Cheers.
  19. +1 managed! Whats your budget for a replacement?
  20. I've just skimmed over some of the 13 pages and I have to say out of my 4 of these printers In over a year I've only had 1 paper jam on one of them and thats with daily use. I got lucky I guess?
  21. Excellent, thank you sukh.
  22. I have just setup shadow copies using How to Use the Shadow Copy Client as a guide But it mentions needing a client application in order to access shadow copies or something. However I have logged into a desktop with my test account and when I right click on the shared folder (users home directory) I have access to the "previous versions" tab and I am able to restore the folder to a previous version. So my question is do I need the client application? what does it do? Server is 2003 Enterprise Edition R2 SP2 Desktops are XP Pro SP3 Cheers.
  23. kath I think that was free870's attempt at humour, saying that the problem is Vista SP2.
