Yes we are using HTTPS interception. I was sure this was related to smoothwall in some way or another but there are so many threads on the Internet on the subject with no real fix.

I have just finished a new Win7 install for our new CAD/CAM suite. When I log in with my student test account, I get a Security Alert saying "revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available" Issued to "javadl-esd.secure.oracle.com" Issued by "smoothwall.domain.local" A quick google gave hints to proxy settings but they are correct and manually configured and "automatically detect proxy" is unchecked. Anyone got any ideas?

Bloomin ek it worked! At least it appears to have. After I put the license key in it activated over the internet. A tip is, that if in "my computer > properties" the option to "change product key" isn't listed for whatever reason. At the start menu search for "SLUI 3" This will allow you to change the key and activate it.

That was my thought too but doesn't OEM only allow one activation even on a pro version? DELL have already activated them. If I can do that then I will, but I don't want to have to phone M$ everytime I want to reimage a PC.

Unfortunately I cant Image it yet. Due to the lovely licencing of Win7 VLK's don't exist like they used to with XP. So as we can't afford the VLK equivelent with Win7 these 14 PC's they have an OEM Win7 pro licence. So I can't just make a standard image as it wont play nice with the licence activation. Unless I've read it wrong...

We have just taken delivery of some shiny new DELL Precision T1600's to revamp our CAD Suite. They came installed with, amongst other bloatware with DELL data protection access DELL data protection access Middleware (say what now?) DELL data protection access Drivers Is it OK to uninstall this? I don't really see a need for it but don't want to break anything or remove it unnecessarily. Can someone advise me? ps They also came with Norton Internet Security! On a workstation!!!

It looks like an element isn't being displayed correctly or there is a another domain there being blocked. Check the smoothy logs. For me adverts are block so I don't see the top banner, the smoothy logs confimed this. The rest loads fine.

Perhaps their unsupervised access needs to be revised if they can't behave? Fortunately we've not had that problem but annother annoyance is that they unplug the keyboard and mouse and plug them into the front USB ports intsead! why for the love of all things fluffy why?!?!?!?!?!

We are just about to upgrade some 10 year old PC's with some shiny new ones. We are going to be running various CAD packages on them Camworks Solidworks Catia Autodesk Inventor I've got a quote for a PC but the graphics is an Nvidia NVS300 which I'm told by our CAD supplier isn't supported or recommended and various forum posts on the Solidworks site say it wont work, although I know that not to be true. The problem is Solidworks supports the Quadro 600 but its pushing out of our price range the Quadro 400 I suspect is within our price range but not supported (i'm waiting to hear back from my supplier about the cost of the 400's) The same goes for Autodesk Inventor and Catia they both support the 600 as a minimum. So am I fussing over nothing? I just don't want to get something that isn't going to work perfectly and then have everyone moan at me.

Yeah I've given them the quotes and they are going to go for the Canon Pixima due to the cost, even though the cartridges only yield less than 1000 pages each. It is going to be light use but I just know that its going to be used more and more as time goes on. I've already said "Well I'm getting my I told you so in now"

Yeah I noticed that which makes it very affordable and appealing. I just don't know if management are going to be pursuaded due to the the cost of the toners.

Hmm that certainly looks interesting and only £50 a cartridge for a 4000 page yield! So with it being Gel something I've not heard of before being used in a printer, what is the quality like? The printer bill be used for printing off CAD drawings some 3D parts and some just technical drawings. Its a shame that you can't try before you buy with printers.

There isn't a solid one unfortunately. I'd looking around the £800 mark for a laser and a lot less than that for Inkjet. The toners for the Oki are the cheapest I've found for a colour laser at £150 and £60 for black. The cheapest HP laser CP5225n is £980 with networking and the toners for that are £250!!!

Thanks for all the replys. I think I've narrowed it down to a Canon Pixima iX7000 which seems OK I'm also getting a quote for an Oki 801n just in case a laser is in the budget.

It seems this area is a mine field of crap. I'm a flatout HP fanboy when it comes to printers, but their A3 range seems to be totally pants judging by the reviews. So I'm looking elsewhere this time. Does anyone have any recommendations? It'll be used for printing off CAD drawings. Cheers.

We have Promethean Actiview camers and they really are just glorified webcamera on a stick You'd be best just getting a webcam and something like this to hold it. Clamp, Lab Equipment, Swivel Clamp, Buret Clamp

We use UTAX (Kyocera) photocopiers and they have been great even when abused by the photocopy whores.

I'm trying to install ActivOffice, but I'm getting nowhere. When I try to install it I've had errors from "You need to Powerpoint 2007 SP1 or higher to install" even though I had Powerpoint 2007 SP2 installed. So I uninstalled Office and reinstalled it and then reinstalled SP2 then installed ActivOffice and now I get the following error. (see attached) I've got the latest ActivInspire installed and the OS is XP Pro SP3

I'm afraid not, too many moons have passed. My draytek, while costing a small fortune, has been great and the ZyXEL and 3Com routers are still working and have been donated to my sisters.
