  1. Will it work OK on its own? or does it require the whole program to be fully functional? The students login to the website and then launch a program from the website a .ICA file, I assumed it would be just the web plugin that was needed for it to work.
  2. This? Citrix - Receiver for Windows 3.4 EDIT: ICAWebWrapper.msi does that sound like it?
  3. I've searched high and low but I cant seem to find an msi file for the Citrix XenApp web plugin in an msi format, as I need to install it on a load of machines. Its needed for accessing our partnered college's VLE I tried the extracted .exe and it contains 3 .msi files and a load of other files but it would be nice if I could just use a single msi to deploy this over the network.
  4. If its all setup locally on the client machines theres virtually nothing to go wrong (printers not mapping or mapping to wrong room) but using a print server does have some benefits, such as being able to to centrally manage printers, view printers with problems, view printer queues, assign printers to users or computers etc etc etc. When I setup my first network way back when I used locally mapped printers but as I learned more about print servers the benefits outweigh the cons.
  5. Sorry for the confusion, the drives are mapped via the home path variable in the profile tab. The net use stuff was while testing to see if the map still worked and the commands were executed using the test accounts. I've just tried mapping it via the home profle using the FQDN and it works. Its just I've been using it the other way without any problems for years. Then suddenly a few weeks ago it starts acting up. Where might I find sync centre? Or how can I clear out the cache?
  6. This may or may not be related to DNS. I've just tried mapping it via an IP address. net use /delete h: net use h: \\192.168.10.1\students\%username% <---works net use /delete h: net use h: \\ltc.ltc.local\students\%username% <---works net use /delete h: net use h: \\ltc\students\%username% <---does not work The DNS records look fine. This guy is having similar problems. http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/164782-weird-shared-drive-behavior-location-is-not-available
  7. We very rarely use the cameras which is why I've gave up on it but if its been fixed I'll get them all updated. Cheers.
  8. After a bit of investigating this watermark is related to some software that Promethean is using hopefully under licence. I gave up trying to get rid of the watermark for my users but today a message popped up that I've not seen before saying about not licenced and a link at the bottom to hxxp://www.montivision.com if you notice the watermark is montivisions logo. DirectShow (DirectX) Video Capture and Imaging Software for Windows 2000/XP. Comprehensive Library of DirectShow Filters. I'll try and get a screen shot of the message.
  9. Doesn't pFsense have a module that can do country blocking? Perhaps the IP's could be extracted from it. So does PeerGuardian, now developed as PeerBlock for windows.
  10. Arh I see. Yes H:\ is their home folder. Oh how much easier this would have been if I could have just typed "mkdir c:\students\*\newfolder" where * is the random folder/username. It works on files, why not folders too.
  11. for /f "TOKENS=1,2,*" %%a in ('tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq explorer.exe" /FO LIST /V') do if /i "%%a %%b"=="User Name:" set _currdomain_user=%%c for /f "TOKENS=1,2 DELIMS=\" %%a in ("%_currdomain_user%") do set _currdomain=%%a & set _curruser=%%b Just the kinda stuff I was hoping to avoid. The .bat file sounds promising. If its to run at logon though I'd would need the network map so set name=h:\domaincontroller\students\%username%\newfolder md %name%\%username%\nameoffolder Sould that work?
  12. Arh yes I could but I've not got GPP on my 2003 R2 server.
  13. I hate writing scripts or batch files because I always break things. Can anybody help me make a script that makes a folder inside users home directories. For example. The students home folder is C:\students\username on the server. What I need to make is a folder inside the \username folder so, C:\students\username\newfolder I have over 500 accounts to do so I was hoping that I could use some sort of %username% type command or wildcard. I've Googled but im all out of Google Fu today.
  14. It only seems to be student accounts that are effected and its only this machine. I just created another student account and it didn't map. I also don't use roaming profiles so I may try deleting the local profile of my test accounts. The symptoms are similar but I'd like to know the cause. If more computers were effected then I'd probably go the imaging route. Imaging is a last resort.
  15. OK I think this may be related. I've no idea how this has happened or even how its possible. If you look at the attached image you can see there are loads of "My Documents" folders but they are shared with the students username. This may be related to the problem. I think My Documents folder redirection has gone horribly wrong somewhere. I tested with two accounts: student1 (a temp student account) and testacc (my student testing account) student1 wasn't renamed to "My Documents" but testacc was, however they were both still effected.
  16. Piece of gaffer tape over the switch? Is there any setting in the BIOS?
  17. Thank you! But it would be great if these files were available from the Promethean website.
  18. Can some kind soul please provide me with a link for ActivInspire 1.6.5464 update file only NOT THE FULL SUITE. I've had a good look on PrometheanPlanet but its not on there by any viewable form. Cheers.
  19. Sorry for the late reply I just assumed no one had replied because I didn't get an email notification. Only student accounts seem to be effected. Teacher accounts arent even though they are both limited accounts. Yes its in the correct OU. No other drive letters taking over the drive letter. They have read access to the share. This is a real noggin scratcher. I've tried everything I can think of but the student home drive still isn't mapping and its only this computer. :/ I've tried taking it out of the domain and adding it back in and still no joy.
  20. Cheers Keith that does make sense. It does have a LAN > LAN direction option though which I assumed was for anything goes through the LAN was checked. I'm using the MAC filter on the device which works a treat.
  21. For some reason today a computer (Win7 Pro 64bit) has decided it wont map the home drive for any user that logs on, however it does map a drive thats mapped via a script and another that is mapped via "map network drive" in my computer All other parts of the network appear to be working fine. The Event log says: Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon because the group policy logon optimization is in effect. Also for My Docs redirect Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Music" to "\\LTC\Students\testacc\My Music". Redirection options=0x9001. The following error occurred: "Can not create folder "\\LTC\Students\testacc\My Music"". Error details: "Access is denied.
  22. Delving deep into the config it has a mac address filter on the receiver to limit access, better than nothing I suppose. Will still try firewall way as it will be interesting to get it working.
  23. Its a 2820Vn which I assume has the same firewall features. Any clue as to what I would need to enter into the data filter?
  24. Does anyone else here use Draytek routers? I've got one at home and I need to disallow access to an IP address on my LAN from other computers on the lan to the device. I've just bought a Yamaha AV receiver that has network connectivity but zero security. Its got a web admin panel that allows for firmware update and changing of the IP/DNS, but because you don't need to enter a password in to change such details theres nothing to stop someone (twisted brother) on the LAN changing such details. Its unlikely they would but it gets worse when they could also use the phone app and play havoc wirelessly by playing music, turning the unit on and off etc etc. Anyway is it possible to set a firewall rule to only allow data from my PC's IP and my Phones IP and nothing else.
  25. Now these are my kind of letters! Thank you!
