It cant hurt to try a different router, it may even improve things. I don't use an ISP supplied router, I use a Draytek 2820vn, but I'm on ADSL2+ I don't know if you need a special router for FTTC. I'd avoid the likes of Belkin and Netgear like the plague, I've had moderately good experiences with D-Link and good experiences with ZyXEL, 3com (now HP) and Draytek.

I used a program called Ad Infinitum to do this. You could also do it by writing a script I believe, but I couldn't script my way out of a wet paper bag. We're in need of a PDF Editor Which is the best one to go for? I'd ideally not like to get Adobe bloatware. Some research leads me to Nitro PDF or Foxit PDF we use Foxit on the machines here. What is everyone else using?

It states that you can't download but it also states that you can't stream videos for commercial use. A college (what we are) is fee based so is that classed as commercial?

I guessing thats just because of the adverts they want you to click on which are blocked anyway. The way those terms are written implys that streaming isn't allowed in schools, however there is a youtube edu....

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this or not. Is it OK to download youtube videos for the purpose of displaying in lessons. I personally don't see whats wrong as they are free to stream online, why not make them available offline too.

I have experienced this before but it was on a printer that was connected via USB to a router. A firmware upgrade of the router sorted it. I'd go down the route of diagnostics, trying via USB or install ethernet driver onto pc locally and trying that way. I'm not entirely certain its a driver issue although the bands on the page would indicate it. The back log of printing is the weird part. Like its not clearing the ram out of what was previously sent. Also check the event log for errors. How is the printer connected? What driver are you using? Does it do it from a cold boot? Is the ram OK? (left hand side panel)

We use solidworks and Prodesktop, we have a 3 year contract with NT CADCAM. We've got the dongle version but it only uses it for initial licensing and after that it uses the server to run x amount of sessions. As has been said, you can install it on as many as you like but you can't exceed the amount of licence sessions. Just make sure your machines are capable of running it. We have Core2Duo E7400's 2.8Ghz 2GB ram and its pretty poor. Its wanting for 4GB min and a fast quad core.

It's my understanding that this is caused by the network setup. I have 4 of these printers and they all work flawlessly. They are attached manually to each computer though, so no scripting involved. Perhaps the issue is in the way they are networked.

How do these two operating systems work together. We will be upgrading our CAD suite and the server is currently Server 2003 R2 but the desktops will be Windows 7 64bit I just want to know if there is any major issues with them there will also be XP machines on the network. We just need to upgrade our aging CAD pcs to something with more RAM.

Nope that didn't sort it. Any more solutions? It works fine under the administrator account i guess its just user accounts effected.

It always amazes me with how much bad press Netgear stuff gets, yet people still buy it. We had a Zyxel router that failed last summer due to the heat it produced. Now using Draytek without any problems yet.

Cheers Templar I'll give that a try. Our Promethean provider was in today and he said that he has never experienced anything like that before.

Some lecturers have reported a watermark on the ActiView screen. I have seen this for myself and I have taken a screen shot. (see attached) This didn't happen under the administrator account. The watermark (or whatever it is) is at the top left on this account, but on another account it was near the middle of the screen.

Worked like a charm. I can only assume that newer Cisco switches require a straight cable instead of a crossover cable. Cheers.

I just assumed as the cable came with a Cisco switch (brand new) that it would be the same technology accross the board. I'll buy a crossover type and see if that has any effect. Cheers for the help.

Managed to find some decent probes in the electronics lab. It appears to be a straight cable as all the pins matched their corrisponding numbers. Does this mean I need a (ethernet crossover equivelent) cable? If its not working with this straight cable.
