I seemed to have ruffled a few feathers, sorry. All I wanted to know was whether or not they needed to use PoE injectors. It wasn't clear to me in the unifi literature. Adding unnecessary wiring from a PoE injector isn't what I was looking for however those in-line adapters look ideal. Sorry again for any confusion.

YouTube for EDU - how to share schools playlist?

I would have thought the school name. Google does however like to know everything about you and may try and force you to use your name like they did a while ago and its something that isn't reversible. Just enter the school name, its what I did. They shouldn't need a personal name for anything like that. -
That doesn't really answer my question. I've already read that and the only thing I can conclude from that PDF is that you NEED to use the PoE injector on the low end APs unless you buy the PRO AP.
-
Do Unifi APs need to use the PoE injectors they come with them or can an 802.11af PoE switch be used. The AP I'm looking at is the UAP-LR

That could well work as I also encountered that problem but it later started working. Here is a link to my post on Googles forum. https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/google-education/BjyMMnRP2Q4/IrUXidMT49oJ -
During the day.

lol To be fair, it should be a straight forward proccess. Sign up for YouTube for schools Enable header modification on content filter/proxy Verify header modification is working by navigating to youtube.com you should get redirected to youtube.com/education (or such like link) Sign into YouTube for schools (on an account not effected by the header modification) account and add a playlist for the channel View channel and shout hurrah. -

DERP! I think I'm running out of ideas then. How about trying a different link to the channel, http://www.youtube.com/(channelname) OR http://www.youtube.com/user/(channelname) I did experience it where youtube.com/(channelname) was blocked, but /user/(channelname) worked but I think they have fixed that since. That is however clutching at straws. -
Its kids being kids. He should probably come in wearing the t-shirt. The only one that doesn't laugh is the guilty one as they will be more shocked than the rest lol. Don't actually try that^ At least you have the time the email was sent so you could send an email to the parents to check their computer history around the time. They also probably used Google to do the search so looking at the history on Google too just in case they deleted the browser cache.

No students (in fact any user) aren't allowed to log in as that could potentially let them disable any features to let them access all of YouTube, that is a feature of YouTube edu it disables logging on and its why you need to also have unrestricted access to add videos. The link in favourites is setup in GP via Internet Explorer Maintenance but I can't find the path as I think an update (IE11) removed it in favour of GPP. The link will then appear in their favourites of their browser. The way that students will view your channel will have to be via a link of some sort as as far as I know they cannot search for the channel. For staff you can add trusted staff members to add videos via "youtube.com/account_school" -

OK I've just re-enabled it here to refresh my understanding of how it works. I've got a laptop next to me with a student level account. When I (student acc) open youtube I get redirected to Bildung - YouTube I can browse all the edu videos and via a link in favourites go to our channel and click on the playlists and view the videos I (administrator) have allowed the users to view. When I sign into YouTube from my pc with an admin account that isn't restricted to YouTube edu and I login with with the channel info at first it logs me in with the email address I then have to go to "Switch account" (and choose the channel account) that will then let me access "youtube.com/account_school" from that point I know I'm in the right account and I can go to the channel and add videos/playlists etc etc So there are two ways i know its setup correctly. 1: When restricted to YouTube edu its not possible to log into YouTube using any account. 2: When not restricted to YouTube edu its possible to log into YouTube using any account. (access to youtube.com/account_school possible) -

You shouldn't be able to login to YouTube with a personal account that is a feature of YouTube edu as it stops users logging into their own account. You should however be able to log in using your channel account. You can login using any account at home because its not doing the header modification. -

They go to the YouTube channel where the playlist resides and click on the playlist and if they cant get to that then there is a misconfiguration somewhere. It sounds like you are doing it right but there is some simple problem somewhere. The redirect error you mention is quite strange and seems to be related to Google Chrome. Have you tried other browsers? -

You create them on your schools YouTube Channel. Top right hand corner > click the drop down menu > Video Manager > Left side bar > Playlists > + New playlist Sorry that reply took so long our internet has been down since 10:00am -

Ugh I blame Google+ That sounds like its setup correctly. The account that lets you view http://www.youtube.com/account_school is the account that you need to use to make the playlists on that channel. I fear the playlist you have created was done so using the Google+ YouTube account. Its such a shame that there isn't any official support from Google and I get the impression that they aren't actually developing it and its just something one of their code monkeys made while drunk. -

What I was saying is that you should be able to view this page http://www.youtube.com/account_school if you cant then you may be using the wrong account. It was a problem that I encountered when I first set it up Can your users view the YouTube channel? and view the playlist from there. -

If you can't see step 1 located here: http://www.youtube.com/account_school then you have a misconfiguration somewhere. -
lol. Well going off the old posts it looks like its going to be horrendous.

I have been told today that for functional skills we will need to install some software from Edexcel called Promisor. So the first thing I did was to Google what the software was and I was greeted with some results from Edugeek dating back to 2009 and there wasn't a single post that had something good to say about it. Have I got a nightmare ahead of me or has it gotten better?

As far as I know you will need to navigate to the channel manually. There is no way to browse for it (i've tried) What I've done is add the channel as a favourite in GP so they can just click on Favourites > channel in internet explorer. Having said that its more trouble than its worth in a college and its now open and I just moderate it when I can.
