OK so it looks like it was the static route entry that was at fault, I thought it needed to go to the server but upon initial inspection it appears to be working.

OK So I'm trying to create some VLANs to put the wireless clients on another IP range. Basically wired connections on 192.168.10.0/24 and wireless on 192.168.20.0/24 Server IP:192.168.10.1 GW: 192.168.10.3 Router IP: 192.168.10.3 Switch - Cisco SG300 Layer 3 mode VLAN 10 192.168.10.254 VLAN 20 192.168.20.254 Smoothwall IP:192.168.10.7 GW: 192.168.10.3 I've got two PC's setup on VLAN 20 for testing and they can only get an IP address via DHCP when the server has its default gateway set to 192.168.10.254 The problem with that is the server and VLAN 10 then lose internet connectivity, but VLAN 20 will have internet connectivity. I think I've got the static routes setup correctly on the switch (Cisco SG300 Layer 3 mode) [ATTACH=CONFIG]25829[/ATTACH] Smoothwall route [ATTACH=CONFIG]25830[/ATTACH] On the DHCP server (192.168.10.1) There are the following scopes Workstations 192.168.10.0 - Router option is 192.168.10.7 (Smoothwall) vlan 20 192.168.20.0 - Router option is 192.168.10.254 (vlan 20) So how do I get internet and DHCP working on both ranges? Sorry that its probably not explained very well but If I can elaborate anywhere just ask. Thanks.

I'm using a Meraki MR18 access point. I think I've sorted it out, I need a holiday or something! On the laptop I was using it had admin credentials but it wasn't on the domain, naturally that shouldn't matter so it let the user browse the network regardless of who authed over radius. Yes I'm a complete muppet and I should be banned from computers. :doh:

Perhaps its the NAP that I need to configure then. I didn't realise that it would give anyone that auths over 802.1x full access, I thought that NTFS permissions would still apply. The Radius will be used for students/staff and a guest portal will be used for guest access, which is sorted.

I'm setting up Radius for a wireless Trial and It appears to be working OK but its not authenticating correctly. The client can connect and in the WAP I can see that they are connected via 802.1x with the username they used but they can also browse areas of the network that they really shouldn't be able to. I am using a laptop to test this out and the laptop isn't on the domain and it is appearing as though it were a BYOD device. I added the AP into radius as a client and followed the wizard for creating an 802.1x server and that is about as much as I have done. Any help would be appreciated.

Only just got it today and I've not had a chance to play with it yet as I've been running Functional Skills tests all day. I also need to run a cable to where I'll be using the access point before I can use it, then I'll feed back as to what its like. I followed this link from broadbandbuyer. FREE Meraki MR18 access point - after a live webinar I don't know if the MR18 is a promotional free AP using the BBB referral code, or if all webinars now qualify for the MR18 but its a £430 AP with a 3 year licence thats worth £200 for free.

I also ignored the warnings about the screen size being too big some are 1920x1080 and some are 1680x1050 there was something strange when a user dragged the calculator to the side where there is a large white space it disappeared but not a massive hindrance.

We allow it for both and police it. Anyone caught abusing it will be denied access. I have tried YouTube edu but it was more trouble than it was worth resulting in a lot of support requests for videos to be added.

Ignore the warning. The software is some of the most poorly coded software that I've ever seen. We've just done a test today and we are using 11 and 12 in that room and it worked fine. I do need to get around to updating them at some point but thats another story.

Yeah offline files / syncing does not play nice with folder redirection at all. It caused me a few headaches before I disabled it.

Where are you buying it from that only allows 146Gb SAS drives? Have you considered SSD's?

They probably don't want you to know. Do you have any network traffic monitoring software? Wireshark would work but its probably a bit overkill, however you could monitor that PC while it tries to update and see where it connects to.

Looking at their prices for paid for storage dropbox is currently $9.99 pm for 100GB and copy is $9.99 pm for 250GB pretty good value for money, however I know more people that use dropbox and we share large files together so moving to another service might be problematic if they don't want to move.

I use dropbox and I have paid for the 100GB I recently bought a new phone (GS4) and it came with 50gb of dropbox storage for 2 years, so now i've got at least 150GB of storage for 2 years however I doubt I'll come close to using the extra 50GB as I'm at about 25GB now. For me dropbox is convenient and its likely to stick around for a while.

Can you not block the applications from running? Do you use Impero or such like classroom management software?

How are they for heat dissipation? there doesn't look like there are any visible vents.

Well its setup and after some initial problems which were my fault its working and its very fast and the quality on general office mode is very good. We got it for £298.80 inc VAT from Viking Direct its now gone up to its full price but you can still claim £100 cash back.

I have experienced some strange problems with printer driver language versions when printing from Office documents. PCL5c would work fine where PCL6 would error out and it appears to be due to some images on the page. You can normally install multiple versions of drivers but its probably not best practice. HP are doing some cashback offers at the minute and also a try before you buy with certain retailers.

We went for the Officejet Pro X551dw and it should arrive later today. I'll post back when its setup and tested.

It randomly prints junk when connected via ethernet, like its getting signals from the network, this is not a driver or a firmware issue as I have experienced the same with brother printers. Its connected at the minute via USB into a USB print server on our router. That however also causes problems because its slow, unreliable and its now started to put little dots on the page, I would run a cleaning cycle but it doesn't appear to have the option to do so. It wasn't my choice, like I said I was off sick and instead of phoning me up which I would have preferred them to do because of the hassle its caused, they bought it from Viking Direct. I've always bought HP and never had a bad one yet
