So - National Lockdown again school working remotely only Extremely vulnerable to go back to shielding reading between the lines at least 6 weeks Dept of Edu to liaise with Ofqual to come up with a decent system to replace the summer exams - I suppsoe this may involve soem stuff people here need to know about - talking to each other may be necessary Good Luck to everyone out there - I would look to help out locally but wife now shielding again - so I'm going nowhere until she has the vaccine - and she will probably nail my foot to the floor until I have to as well won't see the kids for ages either - even the new one when he finally comes home - whenever that is TLDR - back on your heads people (to quote the old joke)

Just had a go with the calcuoator Did it based on me and my wife It seemed to give dates that were a few months later than estimates from the NHS yesterday on the telly That may be due to the telly being based on the first shot - the second is clearly about 12 weeks later based on current plans

Currently re-watching Torchwood Finished Series 1 - awesome - many great lines delivered with perfection from an unexpected angle - often by Jack Now on Series 2 - still great - not awesome - less great lines seem to remember that series 3 was also lower and series 4 I was originally disappointed in - but will give it a go - seem to remember something about US influence in it

As I worked in central Liverpool for 20 years the song was wrecked for me - and most of Liverpool - by being EVERYWHERE especially at Pier Head whenever the Ferry came in totally over played Great song though now - when sung properly - which means by the Kop in full voice THAT is a totally different matter Great loss of a true Son of the City

I think a lot of 'bosses' have a lack of trust when it comes to people working from home. Based on what I have seen here this seems to maybe be especially pronounced for non teachers - hence the 'teacher work from home' but 'other staff must be in school' situations And I do wonder how many teacher have done very little in terms of hours over the last year - compared with normal. I know my granddaughter has been sent very little work to do and has had one catch up with her teacher I would imagine it is better in secondary than primary - but

I presume that they have a twisty lane leading to it if you go directly 'as the crow flies' you get an automatic positive (I'm sure there was a better version of that in there - just couldn't think of it!)

OK - new phone now working - only took a day!!! it would have helped if most of the apps that claim to be able to transfer Contacts actually transferred contacts and also it Android 4.something had the export contacts button in a place you could finding without sacrificing 17 goats and 3 frogs (if anyone is missing - sorry!!!) anyway - also time lost due to all sorts of charging problems anyway - turns out the whenever a message came up asking anything about Google 'someone' always said 'no' due to security reasons hence every possible backup or sync possibility had been blocked including - for some reason - Good Drive had been uninstalled which didn't help! still - all done now - once I realised the problem Whatsapp was easy - just found the setting to allow backup - added the gmail account - and it worked Then just needed to uninstall Whatsapp on the new phone and re-install it - apparently this is the only way it can restore from a backup just need to copy the photos across now

Hello from Tier 3 (Liverpool City Region) for those that are confused - it was announced that Liverpool was moving to Tier 3 - when he meant Liverpool City Region - which is different - and is also different to Merseyside - how that makes it clear anyway - we are tier 3 - but my normal bike ride goes near Warrington - which is in Tier 4 - so that is out which is OK because last time I rode along that towpath I would have kept drier cycling IN the canal I will have to check where the boundaries are and not venture too far East On a similar note a Geography Teacher I used to know pointed out something important You know you sometime see signs saying something like "You are leaving $county" - then a bit further up the road, maybe 100 yards, there is another one saying "Welcome to $othercounty" or, round her, "Welcome to Wales" then " and sign saying you are in Flintshire later on Well - the Geography teacher reckoned that the gap between the 2 signs is deliberate - the official map has the official line defining the legal boundary - and the gap between the 2 signs if the width of the line of the map The land between the 2 signs is not officially in either county - and if a house happens to be there the 2 counties just come to a decision of who gets it - but legally it is not in either county he MAY not have been serious

OK - update - based on urgency only reasonable thingy I could get today - which gives me a day to get everything sorted was the Motorola from Tesco Mobile which is OK - looks good sooooooo firstly - everything SHOULD be backed up to Google check - OF COURSE it isn't - somehow it has become disabled so I re-enabled it and watched the sync run for ages so - next - move SIM to new phone - which involves snapping off the different size thingys down to nano and putting the SIM into new phone all looks good - phobe works as a phone - connects to wifi OK connects to the google account by the application of a miracle Mrs mikeprice remembers her Google password first time - Never been known before!!! all sorted left it for ages because it decided to apply a load of updates and had a bath when finished all updates done restore from Google not so much no contacts installed WhatsApp no backup on Google Drive so couldn't restore its settings Oh FFS contact with her son is important overnight so I fiddled the nano SIM back into its bigger bits and I'll try to find out about why the Google backups are not done tomorrow before she gets up or just cheat and stuff everything onto an SD card somehow how hard can it be???? when I did mine it kinda just worked

Hi all Mrs mikeprice has just found out that her phone will not support WhatsApp after 1st Jan Thing is - she has only just started using the app but now relies on it for communication with family - especially about the new grandson who is still in hospital Sooooo now she needs a new phone quickly - not enough time to check things out properly - and anyway I am no phone expert as I only use them for mapping cycle rides and as phones so the basics she uses no apps at all - except WhatsApp - and basically just uses the phone as a phone, for text messages and occasionally as a camera (about 3 photos a year!!!) and I am pretty sure she will not be happy with a physically large phone - the smaller the better Are Nokia still good??? Currys (yes - I know) have one for £80 which comes with Android 10?????? Thanks - need to get it and have it set up by 31st Dec - so bit of a rush!!! Probably need something I can pick up from a shop as delivery will take too long

Just got back from a friend's funeral who drowned last week. I got a lot of abuse from his relatives about my floral tribute in the shape of a life-jacket. But as I told everyone 'It's what he would've wanted'.

Merry Christmas Everyone Mrs mikeprice's son and his partner came round this morning with kids 1 and 2 so we could 'do presents' quickly then they left the kids with us so they could go and see kid 3 in hospital (3.5 weeks old etc etc as documented elsewhere) Then - when they got to the hospital - they asked and were told the other 2 could come and see their baby brother for the very first time - up to now only Mum and Dad have been allowed to. 8 year old girl was excited, then worried, then something else - 4 year old boy (probably more like 2.5 - 3 in his development) just looked and then carried on playing but when we got to the hospital and we went to go to the door he just dropped his dirty sticks and grass with no fuss - which he never does - so he clearly understood more then we thought So - all 3 grand kids together for the first time - if only for a few minutes hopefully kid 3 might come home in 3-4 weeks and we will finally be able to see him so - basically - good day turkey in oven sprouts peeled presents opened best day of this year by a long way Have a good one everyone
