Met Office have been delaying the promised snow hour by hour they have now withdrawn it totally still feels damn cold!!

I scuppered all chance of any snow round here 2 years ago I bought a sledge - for the grandkids to use - clearly!!!

everything was frosty here this morning with a light scattering of very small snow flakes on top and when I was riding home on my bike at about 10 a.m. there was a very light snow shower must get my crampons out!!! p.s. Merseyrail have said the don't expect to 'be able to run a service' tomorrow so potentially 7 or 8 more snow flakes expected overnight!

I would presume that this should be something the Head (or VERY similar) should be getting full and proper advise on from qualified sources the Dept of Ed or Health would be a good starting point anything less would seem to be potentially problematic????

I am very proud. I have converted my diesel car to electric to become more environmentally friendly. It wasn't as hard as I thought. I used an old tumble drier motor. I did struggle to get it to start at first, until I realised I hadn't closed the door properly.

I used to help in a local Museum that did Science and Tech lessons for Primary school I helped them get a couple of Ultimaker 3d printer working and set up They seemed pretty good - but again were expensive What I did discover was a free web site called TinkerCAD - very simple but with some effort you could make most things except complex curves lots of premade stuff as well - which saved a lot

Slightly off topic - for New Year's eve Mrs mikeprice always likes to have a "Cottams Hot Pot" Cottams is a bakery/meat processing place round here that does wonderful sausages and pies and stuff - but only sells though proper butchers The hot pot is not a hot pot but is a pie where the inside is the same as a hot pot Anyway - it came uncooked so I asked the butcher how long it took to cook He looked puzzled and asked the owner - who said "that's a damn good question that no-one has ever asked before - dunno" there followed a quick Q&A of everyone in the shop - which was about 5 people - 3 behind the counter plus 2 shoppers because the shop is tiny and social distancing and all that result - try 45 minutes and see so basically it was cooked to my Grandad's recipe "when it is brown it is done - when it is black it is b******d" seemed to work (p.s. the only time I ever heard my Mum utter a rude word was when she quoted this - clearly it could be a rude word because her Dad had said it and he was above all criticism)

On the point about Science techs (and IT Techs) looking after kids - does anyone know about the legal implications after all teacher and TAs have specific training in looking after kids Naturally we have to do a safety training thingy - but last time I got a job in a school it was via an agency and I just had to do a thing online Personally I did what it said - but I could have just scrolled to the end and clicked on a tick box what happens if an accusation is made and they is no teacher or TA in charge??? sorry if this is obvious - as I am officially a trained teacher maybe I get a pass on stuff - but I don't recall anything other IT Techs have done and I do recall training sessions about asthma, allergies and stuff that were 'classroom staff only'

Still not very goo forward thinking teaching my thought were always that I should be teaching the kids to pass the exams - AND have useful skills and knowledge for the real world teaching them to make flash based systems is not really looking at what will help the kids in the future or maybe I am just too idealistic and should be more cynical???

If only there was some way they could have known!!!!!! when they say 'taught modules' -is there an exam board board that insists on this or is this by any chance their own choice just askin'

Oh - and a buzzard (probably) flew across a track just in front of me this morning - then settled on a small tree got phone out and got camera working - just as it flew off to another tree did get a photo - but it is on an old phone from a distance through a wire fence - so basically a blob on some bare branches - so I'm not posting it to avoid ridicule
