Users "phoning" to complain of the email not working.... Yea I'll just fix Microsoft then!

In the new school we're building which is due to open for September 2022 we had proposed 75" Smart Panels in 37 rooms but in the Art and Science labs we'd decided that Casio 4000 ansi lumens projectors would be sufficient. We're now designing in the necessary infrastructure so that these projectors (displaying on to pull down screens over dry wipe boards) could be replaced with 86" panels in due course. I'm now wondering whether we should just not bother with the projectors at all and just install the Smart Panels from day 1. Do others have interactive panels in their Art and Science Labs rather than just standard projectors?

We allow staff to join zoom meetings but not instigate them. We use Teams generally.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
kennysarmy replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
I work in a relatively long thin office. I'm at one end (1/4) with an external door behind my desk at the other end (3/4) there are two technicians with a door leading to a passage off the science corridor. It's been decided to build a Perspex barrier between us so we can effectively be isolated from each other so that if either I or they have to self isolate there is no need for us all to be off. They have the kettle but I have the heater and the window! -

[bromcom] BROMCOM and 2 Factor Authentication 2FA
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in MIS Systems
Maybe I'm confused then. We'd like staff away from school to have to authenticate using a pin sent to their mobile phone as well as their usual username & password, BUT at school we'd just like them to logon with their username and password. We use Office 365 so some staff will have also linked their accounts. -
Hi, We've recently migrated from SIMS to BROMCOM. Is it correct that you can either have 2FA ON or OFF and you can't whitelist the school's IP addresses? Teachers and Admin staff can't be getting out their phones all the time....

Are there any schools out there running Firefly linked to Bromcom via the third party provider WONDE? Be good to see if you're having the same issue we are! 1) Year 7 and new Year 12 students to the school, do not have any parent information showing in Firefly. Parents with a student in Year 7 or new Year 12 parents do not have their child appearing on their parent account. 2) Classes are not showing in the planner. Only subject and rooming information is being shown. 3) The attendance information (bar graph) on a student profile is no longer showing. No changes have been made by us to the plug-in. 4) Group profiles have changed so that year groups are now known by a single number and for a group to appear as an options when you send a message you need to be able to type in a few characters. E.g Year 9 students were in a group called 'Year 9' they are known labelled as '9' and therefore can't be sent a year group message easily from the dashboard.

[1903, au] A number of my Win10 devices are restarting after a BUG CHECK!
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
No. Thanks. The issue seems to be resolved by updating the firmware on the IWB's and putting on the latest drivers for the boards. -
Named users is coming out at about £6,500 per year! Great use of public money! They do realise we're training kids up in their applications and not making any money out of it!!!

[1903, au] Windows 10 - random NO INTERNET issue!
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
We're on 1903 and it's affecting us. It's not prevalent but annoying when it does affect a user who think we can fix it!!! -
Is there a way to parse a CSV file to Bromcom to update all new students with their school email address? Thanks.

How do you get Windows 10 Support from Microsoft?
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
Thanks - it may be me but it's not clear how we actually sign up for the support from that link. :/ -

To complicate it further on our site, it appears some users on an affecting PC are fine and others are not fine! On the whole it's OK, it's just those random times and it's obviously a massive inconvenience for staff or students if they can't sign in to Office 365! -

kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
I've read online some have had success by setting "EnableActiveProbing" to 1 and others to 0 ! We've got two Art rooms with one setting and two with another to see if any is more reliable this week! Both have "MinimumInternetHopCount" set to 1 They also have "Do not show the "local access only" network icon" & "Turn off Windows Network Connectivity Status Indicator active tests" ENABLED, set by GPO. I've not set this but have read this can/maybe also help: >> "Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Network Connectivity Status Indicator", enable the Specify Global DNS setting. It's certainly a game with MS these days! -

We still had crashed with just the driver so are rolling out the firmware on the boards too which seems to make things stable. Firmware does have some strange behaviour where the board drops off the PC's radar after sleep or logoff etc so teachers are getting into the habit of turning board off and on again at start of lessons. -
After contacting TrustMarque (Part of Capita) who we purchase our MS licences through and asking how we purchase Microsoft Windows 10 Support, this was their reply: Unfortunately it appears Microsoft support plans are not available to schools through OVS-ES as plan or as a Software Assurance benefit only via what Microsoft term their CSP offering (which would basically mean you moving your current licensing across to a CSP partner which is a more expensive than your current OVSES and tends to be billed monthly) . What does this mean?

kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
Just rolled out 6 new PC's to an Art room. Teacher phoned up an hour later - half of the students could not get on Office Apps as the PC's were reporting no Internet connectivity. All the PC's are identical! All are on the latest LAN drivers. All have the reg tweaks set as detailed in this thread. All have "Do not show the "local access only" network icon" AND "Turn off Windows Network Connectivity Status Indicator active tests" set via Group Policy. It's got to be a bug surely.... Can't see a way to get any Microsoft support either! Filled in a form online for support and it stated "Microsoft Professional Support (pay-per-incident) support plans are not available for Azure Active Directory accounts." -

We're still occasionally getting this issue even though all the fixes have been applied I'm at the point of paying Microsoft a support call cost to look in to this and fix it!
