  1. Cheers all. Knew this place would crack it. :-P
  2. It's a scene at night, in a city. Person hiding/running away. They end up one side of high metal railings or a gate. Someone on the other side of the railings maybe you're lead to believe they are going to help them. Then the first person is stabbed by the second person. A bridge might feature in the scene. Please help! It's driving me insane what film this is from....
  3. 100% Just quickly setup three laptops from our library batch - offline account. Bypass smoothwall. Boom. Done.
  4. Thanks all. Switch now configured, in situ and two attached Meraki AP's showing online.
  5. Without knowing the specifics the answer is yes. We have a designated server for Applications. It has a shared D:\ drive which the staff see as the N:\ drive. On to this D:\ drive on the server we install APPS that can run over the network...
  6. Yes and could be. Can't spend anymore time on it. We've only got 3 students doing it for two sessions so just going to use some laptops with offline admin accounts - they will be supervised under exam conditions and I can set the offline account to bypass the smoothwall.
  7. Switch still had the old IP Think I forgot the command wr me !
  8. Connected up OK. Ran the commands to change the IP address from the one given by DHCP to the static one I need. Verified from the switch console using the command "show ip" that it was correct. Turned the switch off, moved it to the final location (correct vLAN) and now cannot connect to it again via a browser or ping it What am I doing wrong?
  9. OK. So we've raided some boxes and found what looks like a serial to RJ45 console cable. AND An older serial card which we're sticking in an old PC. Once installed and switch connected I presume I just fire up PUTTY and choose the correct SERIAL connection and away I go
  10. Interesting. So you use a RJ45 - DB9 plugged in to the switch console port - then the adapter to convert DB9 to USB - then plug USB in to laptop.
  11. Is a console cable a "special" cable? Unlikely to be anything I've got lying around? I've only ever managed switches before from the IP address using a browser !
  12. I'm trying to change the IP address on an Aruba 2530 switch from it's DHCP given one to a different one. When I try and change, just the last number from 18 to 207 I get a switch configuration error. Any ideas?
  13. I'm thinking it might just be easier to set up a few laptops with admin privileges for these sessions rather than struggle on trying to get it working with restricted accounts. I can bypass the smoothwall then too
  14. I'm now stuck on this screen...
  15. As I understand it there is Virtual School and there is Virtual School - Shared Campus. I've red the blurb on both and Virtual School would definitely not work for us, whereas the Shared Campus option looks like it might...
  16. Does anyone have any experience of the Bromcom Virtual School : Shared Campus option? We're having to house a cohort of year 7's next year from another school (yet to be built) on our site, they will use our facilities and network etc It's a temporary solution for one year only. The ideas is to "incorporate" them in to our current Bromcom in such a way that our third party products see all students as one "school" - eg cashless catering, but from a reporting point of view for census etc they would still be classed as two schools. Complicated stuff! They would then physically move to the newly built school for year 8 and disappear from our current MIS!
  17. Hmmmm That just seems to go against their recommendations: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/9982578?hl=en&ref_topic=9023448
  18. Noticing multiple copies of GoogleUpdater.exe open on our Windows 10 Edu build. Seems to be preventing Google Chrome from updating to latest version. Error is "An error occurred while checking for updates: The updater is currently running. Refresh in a minute to check again." You have to End Task all the running GoogleUpdaters then reopen Chrome and it then updates. Annoying. How is everyone handling Google Chrome updates - letting it do it's own thing like this or more controlled with only rolling out certain versions via GPO?
  19. Three years ago we put in 51 Meraki AP's and got the subs cost down to £98 per AP for 5 years. I require an additional two AP's to give us some better coverage in part of the school, the latest quote is £100 per AP for ONE YEAR! I think when our full renewal is up in 2 years time we may be ripping out all the Meraki AP's!
  20. I agree, but the flexibility of being able to room any teacher in to any space and know they have the hardware and software from their normal teaching room is very advantageous.
  21. We instigated and they acted - all good !
  22. This was sent out by one of our Deputies... To Staff, In an effort to keep everyone safe and minimise risk, the IT Support team have clarified some procedures. Please could you read through the message below and make sure you are familiar with the protocols. I would be good if departments did an audit of their IT room early this week and check everything is working. Pleaser can everyone check that they are able to: Change a pupil's password To protect the school's IT Support team from COVID-19 and ensure there is always IT support available please adhere to the following advice: Each morning check your room to ensure your computer, projector, sound systems and IWB's etc are fully operational so that any faults can be rectified before students arrive at school. If you require a loan of items from IT Support please give enough notice so that they can be left in your pigeon hole or collected the day before they are needed. Do not send students to the IT Support Office unless absolutely necessary Passwords can be changed by using the shortcut on your desktop Printer credits can be topped up remotely Ensure any IT rooms are checked regularly for missing keyboards and mice so that replacements can be installed before students arrive. When returning any items loaned from IT Support please ensure they are fully wiped down with antiviral wipes For all support requests try telephoning or email first, rather than turning up at the door. Whenever possible, visits to classrooms to fix and repair IT hardware etc will be scheduled when lessons are not taking place. If it's not possible to rectify any IT support issues by email or telephone then please use the door off the Science corridor for the technicians or the external door to IT Support if you need to speak to the Network Manager. Shortly a screen will be installed to partition the IT Support Office between the technicians and the IT Manager to reduce the risk of the whole team needing to self-isolate. We will, as always, continue do our very best to support you all with your IT needs.
  23. Does anyone SYNC their AD groups to ABTutor? We've had issues where it does n't always pick up PC's and it can be random from day to day when it sycns which ones might be missing - we've ended up setting the SYNC time to 0 minutes once it's right to stop confusion. Also we SYNC our Users and this is also failing with an error "Error: C:/ProgramData/ABTutor/Server/state/database/core.sqlite3: FOREIGN KEY constraint failed Unable to fetch row" which apparently is because there is a user it's previously sycn'd who is no longer in AD - but this is not the case...so that's also annoying!
