  1. Mumsnet give Nicky Morgan what for: http://www.theguardian.com/education/2016/mar/21/nicky-morgan-under-fire-over-mumsnet-post-on-academisation
  2. GPPs with item level targeting work well for us
  3. Me too. Windows will evolve and I think the editions will grow apart. I don't want to have to change version down the line and Education deploys nicely with a bit of tweaking.
  4. Mmm it definitely used to but I think that changed. @Arthur will be able to set us straight
  5. Gah! I even searched "boaty mcboatface"!

  7. Like this: Its gone all "software as a service"-ey so rather than big releases it will just be updated version numbers now.
  8. Ideally I would do the upgrade during the holidays, but or LA always seem to release the updates at the start of term and require to have them done in a couple of weeks :/ Therefore for each upgrade we agree an afternoon where everyone is happy to not use SIMS so the upgrade can take place. Everyone is logged out of SIMS and the machines are all on. Updates seem to go well that way. Though not using SIMS for an afternoon is a bit annoying.
  9. Oh yes @witch watch out for your Funny Feet.
  10. Urgh I hate boasters.
  11. @elsiegee40 out of interest, your school converted and you continued with IT support right? Edit: am I thinking of someone else? :s
  12. Thanks, that drives me nuts!
  13. Another thing. Did they actually announce that schools had to join MATs as rumoured?
  14. Fair point. But don't you think that the market place is about to change? With thousands of schools about to start looking at MATs who is going to want to be dictatorial, schools won't join them. I predict that there will be lots of local MATs appearing that will more collaborative than prescriptive. There are talks around here to do just that.
  15. Just saw this. It's so bad.
  16. Yeah that's the cynical way of looking at. Perhaps knowing the school and management I trust them to be square with me, they always have been in the past.
  17. I hope that schools don't leave it last minute :S Was talking it over with management and they said there's no way IT support is leaving the school which is quite reassuring.
  18. Did you poach that pun from somewhere else?
  19. Glad its not just me that has trouble with getting devices into DEP. So, for those that have recommended GMB, do they get the devices enrolled in a timely fashion?
  20. Also, do you need one provider to do it all? Thought about procuring things like filtering and firewall separately?
  21. Frankly, it depends. Some schools join MATs and carry on as they are, some use the MATs IT support. Some are pretty much forced to. It really depends on the school and the MAT they join.
  22. Don't worry it will all be ovum soon.
  23. That's one for the family albumen.
  24. Exactly, the answer lies at what level of the organisation the licences were purchased and who they apply to.
