  1. Yep. Nothing happens :S I am looking into buying some decent lamps now. Recommendations welcome!
  2. Had a good play and I am loving the new Android app. Layout is much better and the whole thing is so much quicker. A few things to note: In the list of threads, some of the the threads have a picture with it (a picture that appears in the thread) but its not always the picture that goes with the latest post text which is previewed below it. Just looks a bit wrong. You still can't remove thanks in the app. Cheers for the hard work @ZeroHour
  3. Mmm that would make sense, but no, once I select A001, press enter, press + or - it moves on to A002 or A512
  4. Me, what of it? I was late, it was my daughters bedtime, I stopped at Sainsburys and grabbed a packet of ready made and they were flippin' 'ansom!
  5. Nope there's no sub-menu for that, it just moves on to A002
  6. Yikes! Off to the Premises Manager they go! Recommendation back to member of staff: "Buy decent equipment"
  7. @twin--turbo Thanks for your help So I did as suggested and all 4 lights work with the 'Soud' setting. I plugged 1 light into the controller, set the lamp to A002 then A001, hit 'Manual RGB' on the controller and... nothing. I have tried all 4 lamps and 4 different DMX cables. Oddly though, taking out and inserting the dmx cable into the lamp has an effect such that when its connected or disconnected to the controller it implements what the sliders are set to on the controller (if that makes sense). So it seems the lamps are getting the signal but only changing when the lamps are connected or disconnected!?!?!
  8. You can cycle through different manual setups. There are two dmx options, 3 channel where the display says A001 and 7 channel where the display says d001
  9. Here are some pics
  10. Well, I have 1 lamp plugged into the controller and set to A001 but nothing appears to be happening. *sigh* Not much else to try I don't think.
  11. So.... If I plug in 1 lamp, then I should set the lamp address to A001? Sorry if these are dumb questions.
  12. No idea. They have no identification at all on them or the box. The instructions are indecipherable Chinglish. They have an LED display to cycle through the options. As far as I can work out, to use 3 channel DMX you need to select an option called A001. Though when I select that nothing happens. But I can cycle from A001 to A512 if that means anything? Showtec LED Operator 1 4. But I just want to get one working first! It seems that you daisy chain them and set the lamps following the first ones as slaves? Whattittywhatnows? I really know nothing about this
  13. So, someone has ordered one of these: and a bunch of unbranded lights that this unit is supposed to control. Said person has no idea how to operate them so naturally its landed on my desk to sort out and I know nothing about this kind of thing I have read the manual: http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1518635.pdf and it seems that the controller has 3 DMX channels and the lights have the ability to set the DMX channel for them to operate on. However, I can't work out how to find out what channels the controller is using. There's nothing on the unit or in the manual except a bit that says you need to make sure that the unit and lights are on the same channel. Help! :S
  14. We use Bitlocker on Windows 8.1 and 10 machines and use a password to unlock. Had an absolute 'mare with Sophos Safeguard on Win 7 and getting bcd boot errors and was glad to see the back of it. As said above, from 8.1 onwards Safeguard just manages Bitlocker so can really see the point of it? Also, not sure what kind of reporting you are after?
  15. Heh still got some of those somewhere I think. Good times.
  16. Haha so true! I wonder what the pay is for a police e-fitter...

  18. Awesome work. Classic Shell really is great.
  19. Thanks for the replies, some things to think about. We are a fairly large primary, this switch will handoff to three other buildings with about 200 devices on network so the power question is a good one.
  20. Remember the prices of OVS-ES go up every year. You may be getting the same discount but that discount is on a higher price.

Megadrive - Streets of Rage II (best scrolling beat-em-up ever made) SNES - Street Fighter II Turbo (turn it up to 10 for maximum craziness!) Gameboy Gameboy Colour - Both Gameboys = Zelda N64 - Mario 64 right!? DS - Professor Layton Gamecube - mmmm can't really remember much about the Cube tbh Wii - Guitar Hero
  23. I think it leaves wiggle room for drawing up future agreements. As I said above, we don't actually know the original price of academic licences or the discount applied. It leaves room for MS to either massively hike prices and say "now you are playing full price" or make a moderate increase and say "we've removed the discount but they weren't that expensive to begin with"
  24. Agreed! The way I am looking at it is we can renew this year for three years, over that time we can watch what develops and plan accordingly. I can't see the need to start panicking just yet. If that is indeed true about the 25% then we won't lose too much sleep
