Sir Michael Wilshaw criticises MAT exec pay and administration
sparkeh replied to sparkeh's topic in General Chat
Is anyone really that surprised? -
That is interesting. Would be nice to run the same software over switches from different vendors. Here is a working link: here
-
I hazard a guess that is a full backup right? Can't you take advantage of incremental -> synthetic full backup? Backup Exec 2014 does this I believe?
-
If I remember correctly there are a few extra steps for 7 but nothing too onerous.
-
Depends when you looked at it. DA has been massively simplified, I implemented with Server 2012r2 and Win 10 Education and it works a treat.
-
Totally agree with @Michael Don't have a source for this but I do remember MS discussing the Education version potentially having its own API hooks for education specific software in the future (was in an MS blog post if I remember correctly).
-
What an odd response. Seems like the perfect place to discuss Windows 10 experiences, consumer or enterprise.
-
I rather meant MATs approaching good schools and using these rumours to scare them into jumping onboard.
-
Heh yeah, or scare everyone with rumours. Its interesting how some MATs\chains are now sniffing around because 'you want to make your own decision before you are forced' :/ Unfortunately it does seem to be working in some schools.

There isn't anything beyond news articles, speculation and conference speeches. Nothing has been officially stated as policy intention.

How do YOU calculate staff FTE for OVS-ES?
sparkeh replied to minature_hero's topic in Licensing Questions
^ This is how I, and everyone I have ever spoken to about it, counts it. -
Ok so I'll decrypt that thread title: basically, if I download the latest version of Reader DC and extract the files, it comes with a patch to take it to version 2015.010.20056 (which is the latest version avaibale from the updates page: Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows) but if I let it auto update it finds a patch to take it to 2015.010.20059. Is it normal for the patches to be released for download so long after they are available to the auto updater?!

Primary's have been struggling with this for years, same response from Government "Everything is ok and the system is working". A few years ago a primary in our local group was closed, despite the other heads protesting loudly that it would cause huge issues. No one listened and it was shut and knocked down. Guess what, we had huge issue with getting pupils into school which resulted in the LA funding transport to ship pupils to other areas. And now there is going to be an academy opening on the old school site. Sheer madness!

Logged a support ticket too. Turns out we just needed to enable scehduled sync with Set-ADSyncScheduler -SyncCycleEnabled $true Then, optionally, change the sync time to Delta so that it didn't perform a full sync on its first run Set-ADSyncScheduler -NextSyncCyclePolicyType Delta

Yeah I always remove the agent before reimaging and redeploy after reimaging. It's not difficult for S3 to get itself in a mess.

Make sure your DNS is spot on else you are in for some pain. Make sure that you understand the UI, it's really, really awful.

sparkeh replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
Wait what are education plus licences!? Argh I hate MS licensing :s -
When you say that that actions are present, are the right services listed as 'enabled' or just 'installed'? Edit: sorry not 'actions' I meant another tab, is it called services or something.

sparkeh replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
Heh we use Millgate too ... We'll see, perhaps they just love you a bit more than me[emoji14] Still, I feel a few quid is worth it after all the stupid licencing questions I throw their way, poor Kate must be sick of me -
Office 365 ProPlus free for staff from 1st dec 2014
sparkeh replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
I am totally confused now. Our reseller says that can only be added for a penny a licence in mid term as ms won't let let them submit an order for 0p. But at renewal time we can add as many as we like?? I have no idea what's going on :s -
Leicestershire people - EIS + RM smartcache problems?
sparkeh replied to mats's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Maybe not onsite, but you will be going through Exa-network's proxy, do you use their filtering? You will probably have to contact them to sort this out. -
Leicestershire people - EIS + RM smartcache problems?
sparkeh replied to mats's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yes the solution is to bypass the proxy. Its seems after investigation by smoothwall that its an issue with the website, but no one at capita is prepared to listen/do anything about it. -
Office 365 ProPlus free for staff from 1st dec 2014
sparkeh replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks, I thought that's how it was but you know when you read MS licencing over and over it turns your brain to mush. The request has been made, just waiting to hear back -
Office 365 ProPlus free for staff from 1st dec 2014
sparkeh replied to Marshall_IT's topic in Cloud Services
Can I just clarify something. We have an OVS-ES agreement for Office. We use 365 with the free student and faculty licences. Should we be entitled to get the ProPlus licences added to our 365 tenant for free?
