  1. Sorry that was a ham fisted attempt.
  2. You're right, I'm being a swine, this thread is a gilt edge chance for puns, sow carry on.
  3. This thread is such a boar.
  4. But it would hog all the bandwidth

  6. Yeah I had a think about this too. Lifetime warranty is great but how long are you really going to keep your switches for? Not your lifetime right? I took the gamble for the great specs/price vs warranty. Hope I made the right decision :S
  7. Lansweeper 6 has been released and it now contains a helpdesk. Only had a quick play but its looking pretty good and integrates with your inventory which is great. Network Inventory - Asset Management - Help Desk Software

  9. Yeah he made a bit of a GAFE there
  10. Update! As the location is now a teaching area the cab is being moved to a non-teaching area. So yeah, people considering the PoE switch should consider the noise factor.
  11. Well this is an interesting nugget from an article in The Guardian:
  12. Yeah, the director explains it as being a riff on the old Roger Moore style innuendo Bond Film endings. But it just doesn't work for me. 'Kingsman' director Matthew Vaughn answers burning questions | EW.com
  13. Mmm it was ok but was spoiled for me by that joke. Was weirdly out of place and quite jarring.
  14. You ain't kidding! So we have both of these installed now and whilst they weren't too bad when being configured on my desk, once they were installed in the cabs and the fans really kicked in, its like being in the middle of a hurricane! Unfortunately one cab is in a room that has just been changed into an intervention room so having lots of complaints. Might have to swap it out for a quieter model Other than that I love these switches
  15. If you have Netflix you need to watch "He never died" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QK2T7I5uUA Best film I have seen in a long time. Not sure the trailer does it justice as it makes a look a bit more like a dumb action film that it is. Henry Rollins is fantastic and the film feels fresh and interesting.
  16. To make it a hell of a lot more difficult to reverse the changes I should imagine.
  17. Hey I'm just responding to the thread title *computer brands* graveyard Today's Atari has nothing to do with the Atari that made the ST other than the brand name being sold around for a couple of decades. Amstrad as a computer brand is dead. Fair point in Compaq though, I thought HP had actually dropped the name, didn't realise it was still used on their bottom end kit.
  18. If offered, never accept an Ayr Biscuit.

  20. @Duranis post has made me think back to when I was a kid. 2 things stick out: Not scary just weird: when I was a teen I used to play D&D a lot with my brother and his mates in his bedroom. Weirdly a lot of pencils and erasers just vanished in a ridiculous fashion (ie write something, put pencil down, go to pick pencil up and its gone). It became a joke but we went through boxes and boxes of pencils and erasers. When my brother went off to uni I got his room and we joked about the number of pencils and erasers we would find when we cleared the room to decorate. We found...0. Just weird. When I had a bedroom next to my mum and dad's room I used to wake up quite regularly due to the "chink chink" noise of money being counted in the next room (my dad collected small change in big bottles in the room and every so often we would count it all out to see how much we had). I could hear the money being poured out, counted and put back in the glass bottles. Thought it a bit odd but never gave it any thought until I woke up, heard the noise, then heard my mum and dad chatting downstairs. Suddenly the noise was terrifying as I knew nobody was in that room. Next day I asked my dad if he ever counted the money at night and he said "No" :S

  22. Wandering through York one night with mrs sparkeh and we walked past a big old house that looked derelict and marked for demolition. I looked up at the top window and said "erm...is that someone standing in the window looking at at us?" mrs sparkeh peered up and said "..er..yes..shall we be going now...?" Our pace picked up significantly until we were well away from the house. Makes me shiver thinking about it.
  23. Probably posted this before but here goes: Our school is a super spooky Victorian building with things being reported quite regularly. Multiple cleaners have reported seeing a young girl wandering the corridors. According to one of the cleaners (she is in her 90s and been involved with the school one way or another for most of her life) its a girl who died here in the 50s. This had been reported by various people of the years who don't seem to have a connection with each other but could have heard the story I guess. People who are on the alarm call out have reported odd things happening in the night, which is understandable really, but seem to centre on the same area. One night the PO got a call while he was out with his wife and dog so they all popped in. The dog suddenly started whining and was desperate to get away from the 'haunted' area. The wife took a look, screamed and ran out. She said she saw someone coming down the corridor toward her. There are various stories like that, a couple of weeks ago the breakfast club staff came in early to prepare and heard a big crash from the kitchen. When they went to look a box of cutlery had been hurled across the room. I went to take a look and couldn't really explain why that could have happened. A resident across the road kept reporting contacting the police as he could see people in the school at night but they never found anyone. So things I have experienced: Quite often I hear chattering from the classrooms - just kinda got used to that now. Footsteps in the corridor - again kinda used to that now. Someone walked past my office and said hello, I got up to see who it was as I thought that I was locked in. I was locked in and nobody was there. Knocking on the windows. This is a regular thing and results in me and the PO searching the school in case kids have got in. There's never anyone there or anything on CCTV. Last occurrence was really spooky as it was accompanied by childrens' laughter. Was walking past the PO's office when a hand landed on my shoulder. I jumped and span round expecting to see the PO and have a go for making me jump but there was no one there. Probably the spookiest thing was when I walked past the stairs and heard a loud gasp and a huge crash and noises like chairs being thrown around. Surprising myself, I legged it up the stairs and checked the rooms but there was nothing there.
