Well to be honest its one or the other if they want to go ahead with this. They can't put systems in to manage your network but then absolve themselves of blame if they do something to mess it up. And we're talking serious mess up here.

@localzuk would be a good person to get input from as I believe he has a multi site sccm setup. However, off the top of my head I don't think what you are proposing regarding using their installation to take control of your existing tools is possible or desirable. Sccm is installed first and then things like MDT and WSUS are integrated post install. It is important not to configure WSUS before sccm else you can get some funky results. To be honest I would be extremely nervous about being part of an LA sccm hierarchy. It's not at all difficult to cause a serious amount of damage with a couple of errant clicks in sccm. Also I wouldn't like to hand over responsibility for deploying updates. Have they been tested etc?

After a fair bit if digging and irritating people at our LA I was told that they wouldn't be providing any support or guidance for schools at all, let alone funding

I can highly recommend PaperCut too. We have had literally no issues with it in the 5 years that we had it. It runs, does its job quietly and just works [emoji3]

I would start by looking at the UpdatesDeployment.log in C:\Windows\CCM\Logs\ That might give you are more meaningful error message.

Yeah ours shows both. I'll take a better look in the morning but I thought that was normal and your own policy took precedence.

Sccm is best as it gives you the most control over the deployment. Mmm makes sense from that perspective, but people are saying things like "its the death of sccm" which doesn't seem remotely sensible.

Am I missing something? As it stands, when a staff member gets a new device I hand over a fully configured device that they can log on to and get working without any extra steps. With Autopilot they have to start the setup process and wait while everything is configured, downloaded and installed (assuming that it can manage to push out full software programs). "Please wait while Adobe Creative Suite is installed" As far as I can see this degrades the end user experience and makes life tougher for IT departments

Yeah its tricky, I guess its personal preference and there's no 'right way' (though some people will tell you otherwise ) I like to keep things as separate as possible as, in my opinion, it makes troubleshooting easier. So I do the following: Apply image from source wim, only alteration is to strip Windows 10 modern apps out Apply updates (though with Windows 10 and cumulative updates its easy to keep the image up to date) Install all applicable software Reboot so GPOs apply.

I'm gunner have to report you for that.
