I think that we need to accept that all our situations are different: different roles, responsibilities, expectations, pay grades. The answer to the OP is not "no you shouldn't have responsibilties for any of those" or "yes you should have responsibilities for those and more". We don't know the OPs employment conditions or what his workplace is like (or any other member really). We can only respond from our own perspective based on our own experience. We can only advise, not dictate. In my experience, its is my job to manage some of these policies. No one can argue with that. This is the way it is based on my job role, job spec, expectations from the school and pay grade. I keep abreast of developments that may affect these polices, feedback to and advise both the Governors and SLT. The issues are discussed and if required put to the wider staff. If changes are to be required I make the changes which are reviewed by SLT and the Governors for their approval. They are then responsible for enforcing these policies. It works here without the 'inevitable' negative consequences that have been asserted. But of course, your mileage may vary

Interesting, a DPO from the LA told us it had to be someone external. On reflection I think she might have meant that it would be very hard to find a staff member who wouldn't have a conflict of interest so in effect it would end up being someone external. Also finding someone amongst the staff who had the knowledge and expertise would be near impossible. I agree with the governor comment.

Under GDPR the DPO must be external to the school. Our LA is looking to setup a DPO service to buy into but if this kind of thing isn't available to you I think that primaries will have to look into grouping together with other school because it ain't gonna be cheap!

We don't know that for sure. I manage those kind of policies, some written in conjunction with other members of staff but yeah, its part of my job and I've never had any issue with it. Depends entirely on the responsibilities of your job. I would argue that the only policies that an ICT HoD should be managing are curriculum policies.

Calc is fine. 4) 365 SSO became much easier with a recent version of Azure AD sync so is worth a look

Agreed! In my experience they tend to be used well at primaries but not at secondary. I remember reading a few studies on this that backed that up as well. We trialed interactive touchscreens and loved them, however then the budget landed. Once we picked ourselves up we ordered some new IWB to replace the worst ones. They are significantly cheaper than they used to be

Ahh well that's a different kettle of fish Of course if it reaches the 5pm deadline before either deployment has run then that will should run. However... the dark art of which sccm clients run which deployments in which order is beyond my skills. I half suspect that you will find that some clients run one deployment first, and the others run the other one first. I haven't observed any discernible logic to this in all the years I have used sccm. :S

Just to clarify what you mean, is the scenario that you have 1 application, with 2 different Deployment Types with different settings, deployed to 2 collections and there is a device in both collections? If this is the case then the which Deployment gets in first won't matter as the same thing is going to happen either way (the same Deployment Type will run as Deployment Types are evaluated in priority order so the first Deployment Type that matches the requirements runs). When the second Deployment runs it will detect that the application is already installed. Or do you mean something different?
