The loft is full of old laptops, desktops, CRT monitors, a PowerBook G5 and tons of software. Pretty much just use phone and iPad though as I can do pretty much anything on those for home or work [emoji3]

Its just a PITA right? To use SketchUp for Schools you need a GSuite setup, which we don't have. To use mySketchUp you need an account which is irritating with primary age kids. Currently we just click the icon and get working. *sigh*

Yeah this. All our ratified policies have ratification date, review date, owner and change tracking. Every ratification is recorded in the minutes We also have a master document that tracks all the polices and related info (version, dates etc).

The native start menu has worked flawlessly for us in 1703 http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/187278-successfully-deploying-start-menus-windows-10-v1703.html The missing tile problem was solved for us by using the DesktopApplicationID attribute in the xml.

Yeah I am wondering this too. I have seen a few templates that are this broad but I would have thought we needed more detail?

That could be your problem. We moved to 10 at v1511 which, IMO was good but needed CSM. v1607 didn't work well for us so we waited and v1703 has been great. Yeah after v1511 CSM didn't work well at all for us. Last time I looked the maintainer of CSM stated he wouldn't be keeping development up and was working on other stuff. As v1703 gave us working start menus we dropped it.

I know that you have experienced issues with Win 10, but just for balance, there are plenty of people using it successfully in an enterprise environment: Updates: we had one issue in v1511 with a borked update but it had no impact on end user experience (just work for me) but then every version of windows has had its moments with updates Printers: used GPPs for printers for a long time and still works flawlessly in Win 10 Logins: First login can be a bit lengthy (30 secs) but anything after that is lightening quick (SSDs make a hell of a difference here) Start menus: v1703 start menu xml works brilliantly (before this it was just awful)

I'm not entirely sure that's true. The way I see it is that initially the DPO will have a lot of involvement reviewing what the school has in place, and putting a procedure in place for the school to become compliant. Once the right procedures are in place, the school *should* be able to proceed down the right path following those procedures. If you procure a new system in the correct way then you should be ok. Down the line I see the DPO reviewing things every so often and being there for to advice on particular situations. The DPO is a supervisory role and not an operational one. I agree with the budget comment. But regardless, currently, there will be a requirement to have a DPO that conforms to the statutory requirements so its not an option to not do it :/ Its not really tricky, the rules, as they stand, are pretty clear.
