Was this the hosted version or on-site? We use offce365 so I am quite confident with sharepoint but if it is slow/clunky that will be a major problem as that's the reason past VLEs have failed

Hello, Our Principal is looking at getting SLG for our school to cut back on printing reports and issuing students with planners timetables etc. We have had this in the past on site (although this was before I started) but moved away from it to other VLE packages. Flash forward a few years and now looking at re activating it but have Capita host it rather than a sever on-site. I don't know much about it apart from the generic documentation they send. I am hoping that someone can provide me with their experience on using SLG and if the hosted solution is better than having it on site? Here are a few thoughts currently going through my head. Hosted vs on-site? Worth getting profiles? (what do they do?) Network stores, can students/staff access network drives (will this work with hosted option) Administration (easy to use, configure) If we do get it I want it to work and not become another clunky file store that about 5% people use. Also if anyone can provide their roll-out of it? Any info will be great. Thank you, William

Just done a test with having Company and State/Province which retuned 0 members Looks like I might have to change certain attributes at Half term. Does seem crazy that you cant use a CC rule for distribution groups though. Thank you for help mb2k01

Thank you for the reply mb2k01. The company attribute for the staff member is used for another distribution group so I have added "Safeguarding" to the Stage/Province attribute. If I edit the rule for the Year 7 to have Company = Intake 2014 then have another rule saying State / Province = Safeguarding will this still work?

Hello, We have recently had our safeguarding officer request to be CCd into emails sent to certain 'dynamic' distribution groups. They are dynamic based on attributes in active directory. For example IF 'Company' IS 'Intake 2014' which is used for Year 7's. This is the same for each year group. As they all use the same attribute 'Company' the safeguarding officer could only be added to one year group. I have had a look at creating a global rule under mail flow where the recipient is the year groups cc the safeguarding officer but get an error error SentTo predicate does not allow distribution groups. Does anyone know a way I can attach a single user to multiple dynamic distribution groups? Thank you, William

Have you tried GPO > Computer Configuration > Polices > Windows Settings > Security Settings >Local Policies > Security Options and set Accounts: Block Microsoft Accounts to Users can't add or log on with Microsoft accounts?

Hello, once again I find myself saying I hate printers!!! So Just updated some drivers for some OKi printers from PCL 5/PCL 6 to PostScript. This is to help with compatibility with our print management solution. This seems to have worked fine but getting a couple of reports of printers printing additional copies. I tested myself and got an extra two copies of the same document. The print management solution only shows the correct number of pages printed but when I go to the printer three copies are waiting for me. it prints Page 1, Page 1, Page 1 , Page 2, Page 2, Page 2, Page 3, Page 3, Page 3 etc so cant even just take one copy so teachers are left sorting through pages. I know they work fine on PCL driver type but want to stop compatibility issues with our Print management solution. Some (possibly) useful information Print Server running 2012 R2 Standard Papercut NG for management Printer OKi 2632 PostScript Driver Prints additional two copies Happens on both 32 and 64bit Very Annoying!! Logged into the web control panel for the printer and there is an option under Printer > Print Menu > Print Method called "Copies" and this was set to 3.

Thank you for the replies. Yes we intend to have guest accounts but need to know how you take payment. We have reval machines on site but need to know the best way to take payment. For example... An external cover teacher is in all day do they put money on when they come in (informed about cashless and given a pin number) do we do a lend and then get payment at end of day if they use the revals and don't use all the money do you do refunds? Looking for ideas and solutions to the following... We have recently become cashless! So staff/students have biometric/pin access to buy lunch. This works fine however when we have agency staff/cover staff that sometimes wish to have lunch and causes quite an issue as they have no account. How do you deal with external guests and cashless? Any ideas welcome 😊 William

Right. It's now in the staff room and staff emailed about 'testing'. Our Sysprep for Windows 8.1 works on this so that's good. Applied all the GPOs without problems so glad about that I will keep you updated.

If yo go to User start menu %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs OR Computer start menu %programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs you should see some shortcuts to the modern apps. Just make sure these are copied into the same folder as where your folder redirection for student start menu is

Thanks ultriumrw, however this only shows print jobs (not copier jobs). We use papercut to log print jobs. is there another command for copier logs? Thank you, William

Hello, We have had two new Richo MF machines (set up with department codes). We can easily get the counts for each department and export the information to CSV which is ideal. However I would like to be able to export the jobs (meta data). You can see the job history when you log into the device and see "job history" but doesn't seem to be a way to export the jobs. I was wondering if anyone has come across this and how you can do it? Thank you, Will

Do you have a GPO for Start Menu redirection? I found that you need to make sure the shortcuts for tiles need to be in the same place as the start menu. For example we have the Start Menu folder set to C:\Shortcuts\Students\programs so need to make sure everything you want on the start screen is also in the folder. Hope that makes sense?

Hello, I have a very strange problem with Virtual desktops on HP t410 All in Ones. By default I have set the cursor scheme settings to "Windows Standard (extra large) (system scheme)" on teacher and student desktops. This works fine when using the virtual desktops, however there seems to be a bug with certain sized cursor that the cursor changes and then a black square appears behind the cursor (see pictures below) Set up Windows 8.1 Ent (64bit) Citrix XenDesktop 7.5 HP t410 AiO Wondering if anyone else has come across this? No the best way but I have about 6 images saved on the client computer..each with a different resolution. When we do the builds I will specify one of the images in the GPO (Most of the different builds have the same monitor sizes eg 1280x1024) manually.. Do you have roaming profiles? We had an issue where staff would log into Windows 8 machines where the profile linked to their AD account was created in Windows 7. This caused errors when logging in as well as no access.

Thank you Alex, I was looking at single libraries for each department but wanted to make it as easy as possible for teachers (for obvious reasons ). Hopefully I wont run out of mapped drives on my test machine. Thank you, William
