  1. 3M stuff is fine for general purpose. If you want to tune your choice - Le Marke do a variety of different tack / strength / colours.
  2. Send OH out for the night. It is really quite good, and I don't much like the telly box.
  3. Hundreds of miles of motorway have been converted to Smart Motorways and still no one moves over to the left! Utter waste of money and effort.
  4. You miss my point; many people have LEFT THE CITIES to live in the countryside and work in the city. Unless we can all get an Tesla* to commute in, maybe we should be moving BACK to the cities. * SEE? On topic!
  5. EVs will become affordable, especially favourable when all houses have solar panels. Will this happen before we all have to take jobs within a walk/tram ride of home? That was what life was like just over a hundred years ago, maybe we should be encouraging a reverse of the migration out of the cities that the car enabled. ETA - I think that's on-topic for EVs....
  6. The elephant in the room - there are too many people, and most of those would dearly like the opportunity to have a car of any sort. And drinking water. Trivial things like that. We are tinkering, needs doing, but it is just tinkering. Spread the cuts evenly? Yeah right. Tax air travel or ICE cars at punitive levels; the rich will just pay up, and you and I will be walking.
  7. In the boot of your DeLorean? Now that's one car I'd buy!
  8. I can't help but wonder if this is down to Trumpolini having shares in Apple/Samsung/some other manufacturer?
  9. Doesn't help much if there's someone sat on it (or queued) when you need a charge and are on a deadline. A better long term fix (I think) would be to sort out the railways for long distance travel, buses/trams for local, and accessible and affordable electric hire available if you need to move stuff or are off routes. This could be glorified golf buggies around towns. That however, would need central control and funding. It ain't going to happen with the tories in govt, or if we are going cap-in-hand to the US for trade deals.
  10. I think the reason (most?) many people aren't changing is that few of us buy new cars. If I were rich enough, I would certainly consider it; but for now, I'll be buying used ICE until there is a pool of second hand battery jobs driving the prices down. No, it wouldn't pay for itself. Not with battery rental at a lot more than my fuel costs.
  11. 5000? That is only the direct hit; there are +20k jobs dependant on them.
  12. Across a pavement? That isn't going to work out "free" once you've tripped someone and get sued.
  13. I can do that in a much shorter tweet- Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
  14. How smart are dragons? Did it "understand" what was going on?
  15. Anyone else seeing "Triumph of the Will" at that point? Or, a bit earlier, a vision of Hiroshima* with someone standing in the foreground and burned building behind? *I can't place where I'm remembering this from - may have been Nagasaki, might have been a film...
  16. TL:DR Been avoiding he thread up to today for fear of inadvertent spoilers
  17. Too much battle footage, not enough story. Still, I did read that a prequel is being filmed...
  18. I think the op is more interested in the stand in the background. The really low one.
  19. Just wait until you forget to put the loo seat down... Congtats anyway; I dimly remember a day like that.
  20. The "right" answer is almost certainly Unicol - but I know how much that stuff costs!
  21. I could have done that with an etch-a-sketch! And failed to turn up 5 times, late 3, failed to do any work because I didn't have the right pole climbing kit twice.... I'd have only charged 'em £100k too.
  22. Godwin's Law was suspended on the election of Trump. I thought everyone knew that?
  23. Tory austerity: Thousands of suicides - get re-elected.
  24. I think it is a David Bailey quote - he wasn't thinking of something with a 5meg sensor, but a <5mm lens though.
  25. I had one of them until I upgraded last month and passed it on to MrsC. Went for the Sony XA2 as a replacement. OK so far, but not pushing any boundaries. If I want to take a picture, I'd much rather use a camera.
