Not sure that rings true. I recently went to the JRRT exhibition in Oxford and seem to recall the his father did them very early on in the writing process. Maybe it was a re-draw job, but I'm not convinced! BBC pedalling fake news again?

My weather station is recording 60kph gust at the moment. AND.... We have a vast new PE "tent"; a temporary structure for the duration of the build of a new gym/pool/whatever happens over there. Tent opened for business a week ago, and is now closed due to leaks.

Efficiency is how much heat you get out for how much power you put in. An electric heater, of any sort, is darn near 100% efficient. There is nowhere else for the heat to go. Hell, an old fashioned light bulb is an efficient heater (rubbish light bulb as only about 15% of the energy is turned into light) as 100% of the electricity eventually heats your room.

but your daytime usage is charged at a higher rate. They really aren't that flexible. Only good in well sealed, well insulated modern homes. Otherwise bordering terrible.

Intended to say in my post above - gas heaters ALSO require holes in wall for air, and create vast amounts of water vapour that will condense on the walls & ceiling. Lining the walls and ceiling with something like this is easy (ish) and will make it SO much easier to keep warm.

Log Burner = hole in wall for air inlet. It is a trade off...

Damp, wet and cold - yep, that sums up a typical English winter. I don't have stats here, but I can fine in/out figures for work once this cold let's me get back! Currently 52% indoors at home, but a nice bright sunny day. You are right in your description of the theory. I put mine in instead of an extract above an internal clothesline. I also fitted an extract above the shower on a photocell switch. We only get a little condensation on windows.

So, trust us, and make sure you have a good book to hand.
