  1. The DHCP server? I thought 66 was supposed to be the IP of the WDS Server?
  2. I dont think it can be MAC auth as it will literally work on any device connected to that 1 port in the office. I just tried setting the DHCP settings and will check again in the morning. The other ports in the office give the same error, no DHCP or ProxyDHCP offering
  3. It gets stranger....theres only 1 port in our office that works with WDS and i have checked the tagging on the port and its exactly the same as the other ports in our office which dont work. Am i right in thinking something must have been configured on just that port that does work on the switch?
  4. I have indeed but thanks for the link
  5. Nope, its a dedicated WDS Server.
  6. The vlan im trying it on is vlan 10 ip helper addresses are: 192.168.0.10 192.168.0.217 (wds server)
  7. Thanks! It says record already exists so it must have saved when i did it from the code above. Just to confirm i have Option 60 = PXECLIENT Option 66 = WDS IP Address Option 67=boot\x86\wdsnbp.com Ip Helper Address on VLAN = WDS Server IP Is this correct?
  8. my code above added an iphelper address but just tried a machine and still no DHCP offering
  9. No worries. Would this be it? Example to configure the "ip helper-address" on vlan 10: ProCurve# configure ProCurve(config)# vlan 10 ip helper-address 1.1.1.1 Trying on the core at the moment which is a HP 8212 zl Switch
  10. Any ideas how to do that on an HP Switch?
  11. Hi Guys, Just started in a new school and at the moment WDS only works from the ports in the ICT office and the technician has to bring the PC down and build them in the office!!! I had a look in DCHP and can't see the scope options for WDS configured on any VLAN's including the one that the ICT office sit on. The error i get when trying to network boot is no DHCP offering or Proxy DHCP. Any ideas? I want WDS to work on all VLAN's, theres no way im bringing every pc down into the office! I can ping the WDS server from the PC's
  12. Just had a call from Redstor and they want £10,000 a year!!! I don't think so somehow....
  13. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys The only thing i can see being an issue is the SIMS data going offsite and how management / governors will view that.
  14. Hi, Does anyone here use a cloud backup system rather than backing up to tape? I have just taken over as Network Manager in a school and they have SCDPM 2010 which is failing to backup to tape and no-one has sorted it for well over a year. There are so many errors id rather just scrap it and start fresh. I want to backup to disk locally and then do a offsite cloud backup to replace tapes. Anyone using a similar service? If so who do you recommend and how much is it likely to cost?
  15. Hi Guys, A few heads of department and LT have asked me where they can buy the office package cheap for home use, however we have a EES agreement in place. Am i able to give them a copy of office under our agreement? Will only be a select few so i can keep tabs on it if allowed. I seen mentions of 'Work at home rights' as long as the device is used for work? Many thanks
  16. Hi Guys, Just taken over as network manager in a school which uses Hyper-V on Server 2008 and im have a few problems with it. When i try and create a vhd, it just says creating disk...i have left it all weekend and its just stuck on the same stage. Its only a 80GB drive i'm trying to make. I then created a virtual machine without a vhd, it created instantly, then used the vhd tool to make a quick drive, went into the settings of the vm and pointed it to the vhd i created with the tool and it just locked up hyper-v manager. I then came out of everything, went back into it and it seems to have worked as i managed to get server 2012 on the vm. Why is it crashing so much and why can't i create a vhd in the normal way? I have left it for 48hrs + with no joy. I can only make quick drives with the tool. I am used to vmware, not liking Hyper-V very much. Might have to switch when funds are available. Daryl
  17. Thanks guys, LT are trying it out at the moment then i will look to get everyone on it if they want to go ahead with it. Good to hear i don't have to come away from exchange just yet. Many thanks
  18. Hi Guys, I have been asked to create accounts so that everyone can use Google Docs and calendars, however i want to keep our exchange server for email. Is this possible and if so what do i need to do? I have applied for an Education account and its asking me to verify our domain but i don't want to go any further if it's going to effect mail or other services. We simply want to use it for sharing and collaborating on documents, sharing calendars but nothing else. Many thanks
  19. Where do I find the server options please? We have added a new unauthorised VLAN and now cant build machines with PXE Boot. Many thanks
  20. Hi Guys, Up until now, when a client dropped into an unauthorised VLAN, it used to drop onto our student network and PXE boot worked fine. HOWEVER, Now we have a new scope for the unauthorised VLAN and PXE boot is not working on certain machines picking up an address on that range. If you remove dot1x from the port on the switch and manually untag the student VLAN, PXE boot works again. I believe something needs to be changed on the DHCP scope / server to allow the new range to work with PXE Boot....please can someone let me know how and where in Server 2008. Many thanks
  21. This worked perfectly, thank-you! I'm sure I tried this before but obviously I didn't!
  22. Hi, I have been asked to give someone a list of all staff email addresses and I believe there is a way to export them from exchange 2010 to a csv file. I have managed to export all users to a CSV using PowerShell, but how do I do it from a specific database only (staff)? Going through 1500+ users to pick staff out is going to be a nightmare. I need a way of extracting them from a specific database or organisational title. Is this possible? I tried this but it didn't work It returns an error relating to the database line (is not a valid value for the identity)
  23. thanks! Yeah tried that, user logs on now but with a tempory profile everytime. The reason given in event viewer is that the registry is already in use?
  24. thanks! Yeah tried that, user logs on now but with a tempory profile everytime.
  25. Hi, We have a few users who's roaming profiles have been corrupted one way or another, so we are wanting to give them a clean profile. Our profiles are stored on a file server. We have tried changing to 'Profile Path' in AD for the relevant users, however it still logs on with their old profile and problems still remain. We have also removed local profiles on the machines. Any ideas how we get a clean profile working without having to create a new user and profile?
