[ipad] Help making a .PAC File to include HTTPS Proxy
Darylrese replied to Darylrese's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Its a total nightmare, the school has bought lots of ipads and we can't use them effectively at the moment -
Hi guys, We are having terrible troubles with a lot of services not working across our proxy server (council owned) on ipad devices. We can't get mail application to work for any provider, cant stream videos etc I believe this might be due to the fact ipads don't support HTTPS proxy details without creating a .pac file Has anyone overcome the above by creating a .pac file? If so how do I go about making one? Many thanks

exchange asking for credentials every time its opened
Darylrese replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Enterprise Software
hotfix says its already installed! I will give the users a new profile which should rebuild their appdata folders and see if that resolves the issue -
Our problem is strange, only currently effecting 4 users, it doesn't come up straight away when opening outlook, it just comes up at random point during the day. User enters their password and it goes away again for a few hours before returning. On average coming up about 4 times a day. I will give the hotfix a go and report back. If that doesn't work, I will delete the users app data folder or give them a new profile and see how they get on with that.

Will do thank-you. Will store.exe just continue to use all the memory given to it or does it reach a point where it doesn't need anymore? Out of 24GB it seems to have stopped at 20.2GB for some time. What about CPU cores?

The pop-up is still coming up for the same users and it is also cropping up for a few more users now too. I have tried changing the PC's they use to a different switch, deleting the mail account and recreating it on their user, deleting any settings in the credential manager relating to outlook, turned Protected Mode in IE off, rebooted exchange. Still the messages pop up for a handful of users.

Yes and no. Mail was slow to send / receive sometimes and outlook was showing a notication saying it was communicating with the server and hung. No such issues yet, could be coincidence.

sorry should have said, the logs and mail store do go to a separate partition, the windows updates are what filled the C drive over the weekend. Store.exe is now using 14.6GB memory, with a total useage of 20.2GB, its slowly creeping up. I suspect this will keep on doing so until all memory is used up again and then bottlenecks. Any idea if setting a limit on store.exe is a good idea or not?

Hi guys, We have had our exchange box running for almost a year now and the company that put it in seems to have allocated a low amount of resources to the machine Intel Xeon X5650 @ 2.67ghz (only 2 cores) 8GB Memory 60GB C drive Store.exe used all of the available system memory, so I doubled it to 16GB and same thing happened again. I understand it uses whatever memory it has. At the weekend I increased it again to 24GB memory, and also allocated 2 more CPU cores. Total memory is now sitting at 19GB used and everything is working well so far. As the machine is responsible for all roles (edge, transport, exchange) what spec should the VM have? I have read some documentation which suggests a large amount of CPU cores and upto 64GB memory is required when running all services from one box. Also, I have read on a few places you can cap the store.exe size so that is only uses a certain amount of memory, however I cant find the option in ASCI manager as per the guides. Some windows updates went on at the weekend causing C: to have less than 2GB spare, this caused transport service to refuse incoming mail so increased it by 20GB and all is working again. We have around 1000 mailboxes varying in size. What should the spec of the machine be and should I cap the store.exe database size?

One of the two users with this problem had an entry under 'Generic Credentials' relating to outlook, I have deleted this entry and asked him to keep us posted. The other one gets prompted to login everytime he uses the 'Save and Send' feature in any of the Office 2010 products (word, excel, powerpoint) and then an error saying the server is offline, retry or work offline. Any ideas how to correct this?

Users are typing their network username / password, I watched them do it, yet the pop up still comes back. Going to try wilsons registry tweak and if not, move the pcs in question to a different switch to see if network connectivity is an issue although they have not complained of losing any services other than the pop-up

Hi Guys, For the last few days, we have had a couple of users report pop-ups asking for them to enter usernames and passwords to use email. If they cancel the box or ignore it, everything still works as it should. If they enter the details, its still pops back up at random intervals. The users are not doing anything specific to trigger this although it does seem to happen more often when using the Send and Save feature in office applications. Any suggestions? Proxy exceptions are in IE for our domain, Hotfix KB2553248 & KB 2553406 have been removed (google search suggests this) without luck. Users receive this warning: Followed by: Many thanks

That worked, thank-you. What next?

Many thanks, will post in there about HAP

Hi guys, New to HAP, just setting up ISS and I have this error when trying to access MIME types: Also i'm unsure where to do next as the videos for configuring seem out of date? Anyone able to link me to more upto date documentation? Many thanks
-
Thanks guys, Getting further with the install of Home Access Plus, just having problems opening MIME types in ISS now, its giving error, any ideas?
-
I'm giving HAP a go, the installation instructions are pretty out of date though so having trouble setting it up in ISS, the latest tutorial doesn't tally up with what i'm seeing in ISS. Authentication ONLY HAS anonymous authentication and MIME Types gives error cannot add duplicate collection entry We were hoping to go for terminal server, however licensing never happened due to the academy status falling through.

I believe SSL Explorer has been abandoned and I have very little knowledge of Linux. SonicWall looks good but at £1000+ the school wont be able to afford it

They will need access to their user account (documents), Sims, Pars, shared areas, everything they can on site really.

Hi Guys, We are still relying on products such as GoToMyPC and Logmein for our users to have remote access and its a total pain because our firewall is controlled via the local council and also the PC's keep getting turned off by cleaners which makes for some rather angry staff members! What is the best way for us to give remote access to a desktop for our users? We were waiting for a Terminal Server to be setup and licensed by an Academy we were going to join but that has fallen through. We have a VSphere setup and 120 staff who may need access but not all at the same time. Something cheap / free is always preferred! Cheers
