How did you prove it / disprove it for laptops? (not an answer more a question back) its that same magic pot like the other devices. I guess you could look at apps and when you see the HSBC Banking app go personal use? or when they have gmail setup on it and its there personal that would be personal use? We just made them sign a disclaimer that said no personal use unless you tell the bursar who will then tell the LA to garnish your celery for taxable benefit, apparently no-one used the laptop for personal use yet amazing how many came in with itunes, malware etc....

Showpoint add-on for powerpoint did for us with some old PCs running PowerPoint connected to the screens tucked away in broom cupboards etc....

The pulling sock will hold and you can rag on that without problems as its usually got the Kevlar from the cable attached to it and heat-shrunk onto the cable so its a bugger to get off needing a VERY sharp knife and / or Kevlar snips just watch as it vanishes into the ground it doesn't jump from the drunk and kink at that point As for the comment about 10 gig going into the rear, my Juniper ones went into the front and the 10G and 1G modules were interchangeable in the card that took them just a few more 0's on the 10 over the 1

Correct just like Laptops are, smart phones etc... but only if they take them home and use them for personal use

More picking up others comments about 10Gbe. I would spec OM3 fibre / single Mode if its a long long run for all jobs given it will do 10Gbe but a lot of people on here of late are running to 10Gbe and I don't think they realise just how much traffic they are doing they would be surprised.

For 15 users do you really need 10Gbe? It sounds huge. Campus links for hundreds of users yes but 15 users if they are editing and streaming HD Video solidly all day then I could see the need but if its just general use then 1 or 2Gb would be fine

When you delete the profile you have nothing to load thus it goes I have no profile so it doesn't load anything hence being instant. After bouncing the idea with @Ric_ if your profile is 220 meg and its taking 20 minutes you need to be looking at other Issues as well as this as that transfer rate is really bad. Is it over wired or wifi? Short of disk space on the server? Is there a long wait time for the disk as the server is being hammered to death so struggling to perform? As has been said Cookies can be excluded which will help Is it save to exclude the directories AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\PowerPoint from uploading to the roaming profile? might be the answer for your Office problem, although I have never noticed that before, the autosaves would only be there if Powerpoint is having issues such as crashing / network access etc.. which would point to my earlier point of that transfer speed is poor so sounding like some networking issue and thus why its making autosaves and they are not being removed etc... I used Roaming Profiles for all users (so thats 700 or so) and had odd corruptions, re-directed everything BAR appdata as that broke Adobe software in my experience, and we were having no issues logging on or the autosave and media students with HUGE, say 10x the size of your profiles, were on within 10 minutes. Most users on modern PCs were on within a couple of minutes which was perfectly acceptable to users.

If your EQ was badly setup / faulty it would have screwed the sounds so you would get poor sound.

Ahh it would as I assumed that wrongly (or my licensing provider told me rubbish). EES only allows the students to use pool computers EG Laptop Trolleys, IT rooms etc... Once you assign a device to a specific student you are no longer covered by the EES and have to buy a specific license for that device as its not a shared device anymore.

Can beat that 24 was run by a firm I know the other year was impressive to watch they pulled 24 through this corridor and then split it into chunk inside the area they were doing was great

I don't know if the US has much difference in agreements but MS and 1:1 is not well thought through at all, school owned laptops are fine but as soon as you do the 1:1 assignment the rules change as does the licensing. It is something Microsoft need to get to grips with going forth as its not well thought out. So that is what you have found that 1:1 is very expensive the solution is don't 1:1 it general pool laptops cost nothing to sort out under EES as they are general computers thus covered by the usual EES FTE count. You could use OpenOffice or another open-source office program on the 1:1?

I think that is called common sense does the PC manual tell you to take it to bits and take all the filth from the CPU vents and the air vents in the case and chassis fan.... No it doesn't but you do it as it can cause over-heating / fire etc... you are using common sense to do that as you know it improves life and stability. Also remember projectors are still assumed to be Professional fit items (yes I know lots of people fit them now) but they assume the fitters will tell you to use common sense if its got 2" of dust all over it and its vents are block its going to over-heat and may strike fire..... Has been mentioned on here many times RE the Casios which are "filterless" which is true no removable filters however they stuck dust in and the vents get clogged so need dusting out regularly just like any other item that pulls air through it.

Agree on the two box trick much easier to do that even if you only (for some strange reason) need a single point you can pull a bit more on the other to the next one As for sizing quick room measure and then work backwards I only ever work in full meters always rounding up usually taking 1M off each set of points the closer it gets to the cab / add 1 on for the further away when working within the room as I have usually established a distance for the cab to room entry point Never been too far out either or had a disaster

As its something significantly more than just a firewall and has a license cost for them as its using technology brought in from a 3rd party like the replacement AV with Vipre did and the Anti-Spam module etc.... I am still very impressed with what you get for the system

20 mins to logon with that size of profile sounds bad, in terms of size and growing you need to treesize the profile and see what it is that is huge and work out what it is and fix it, for example we always had issues with non-media people playing in Premier Pro and getting huge profiles from that as they were not educated in the qwerks of that so you probably have a piece of software / update that has made them balloon. If its sitting applying personal settings worth ensuring you have verbos logging on in the group policy settings so you can see which policy is taking its time to do anything as 20 minutes to load 200 meg sounds really bad as if its waiting for something to time out a script perhaps

Just normal NECs in our and they have been fine and the same in catering although the fact that grease holds the projector onto the mount when screws are removed for the projector cleaning is worrying but it still keeps working

Must admit I used to have a set of 802s and never had a controller, fine those that are audio-geeks can hear the difference and you need to be a bit smarter on the settings and how you drive them but they work without.
